WHAT IS A FUNPLEX? THE B-52S EXPOSE SEEDY SCENES ON TITLE TRACK OF NEW ALBUM ‘FUNPLEX’ (OUT 3/25 ON ASTRALWERKS)
30 years and a few blocks from the location of their first performance on Valentine’s Day 1977, The B-52s began recording a new album in their hometown of Athens, Georgia. The B-52s, always considered a band ahead of their time, deliver music on ‘Funplex’ (out 3/25 on Astralwerks) that fits in seamlessly with their high-spirited shows as well as any indie blog playlist. Songs like “Pump,” “Love in The Year 300,” “Dancing Now” and “Keep This Party Going On” and the propulsive title track and first single, “Funplex,” (set for digital release on January 29th) are instantly recognizable as prime, yet contemporary B-52s.
funplex:
1) a colloquial word used in the Southern part of the US meaning mall or shopping complex
2) forty nine minutes and fourteen second of electronic fused rock, fuzz guitars, dance inducing drum beats, pristine harmonies, raw energy and cutting and cunning lyrics
