2008 CMJ Music Marathon Dates Announced
Rykodisc is pleased to announce a new artist signing with Nickel Eye (the solo project from Nikolai Fraiture, bass player of The Strokes) and forthcoming release of The Time of the Assassins. The album is due out on January 27th and marks the first Rykodisc release of 2009.
For the recording, Nikolai enlisted the support of London-based trio South along with some other special guests who lend their talent along the way. Nickel Eye plans to tour in support of the album and you can catch him live (with South as his backing band) later this month as they perform at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Wednesday, October 22nd at 9:00 PM and at Piano’s on October 24th at 1:00 AM as part of the 2008 CMJ Music Marathon.
Nikolai Fraiture comments, “Ryko is the perfect home for Nickel Eye. I am honored to be part of a company with a history of such great artists that I grew up listening to.”
Ruby Marchand, Head of A&R at Rykodisc adds, “Rykodisc is delighted to start 2009 with the release of Nickel Eye. Nikolai Fraiture has created an evocative solo album, filled with great songs and strong performances. We look forward to the worldwide launch.”
