Nettwerk Music Group would like to send a big congratulations to multi-platinum recording artist BARENAKED LADIES, who took home the JUNO for “Children’s Album of the Year” this past weekend for their debut original kid’s album Snacktime, which just achieved Gold status in Canada as well. To kick off the weekend activities, BNL played a special show at the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver on Friday for about 100 children and staff.

Says lead vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson of the win, “We are really proud of this JUNO. We put our hearts and souls into this record, and to be recognized for it is a great feeling.” Vocalist/keyboardist Kevin Hearn adds, “Between writing songs and providing drawings for the album artwork, I have never had so much fun making a record. We wanted to make a record that both kids and parents alike could enjoy, and I feel like we did that. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the win.”

Snacktime, which was produced and mixed by Michael Phillip Wojewoda (who also worked with the band on their debut Gordon), is composed of 24 tracks, including such titles as “Pollywog in Bog,” “Popcorn” and “Here Come The Geese.” With 11 children ranging from three months to 12 years old among them, the band was never at a lack of inspiration or imagination. Additionally, the title track includes guest appearances from celebrities/musicians like Geddy Lee, Lyle Lovett, Jason Priestly, Sarah McLachlan, Gordon Lightfoot and more.

Barenaked Ladies have started to work on their new album celebrating 20 years together. The band, who recently parted ways with band co-founder Steven Page, played their first show as a foursome in Orlando a few weeks ago. In the true BNL fashion of constantly keeping their fans connected, they made the live audio available for free download for 10 days on their website. In those 10 days, the performance was downloaded over 70,000 times (it is now available for purchase on the band’s website).
