Patrick Wolf, the UK-based multi-instrumentalist known for his masterfully orchestrated and emotive songs will release his fourth studio album The Bachelor this summer on NYLON Records. Patrick is the second signing to NYLON Records, the latest music extension for the influential magazine and brand that already publishes an annual Music Issue as well as a month-long summer music tour.
Editor-in-chief Marvin Scott Jarrett says on the signing: “We are absolutely psyched to welcome Patrick Wolf to NYLON Records! As an artist, he completely represents the creative, cutting edge spirit of what NYLON is about. Music has always been an intrinsic part of the our DNA, but now with the launch of the label and the second NYLON Summer Tour on the way, it’s at the absolute forefront of everything we do.”
The Bachelor’s release on NYLON Records will be released August 11th on CD, following its digital release June 2nd via iTunes. To bring his new opus to the masses, Patrick will headline the second annual NYLON Summer Music Tour this June alongside The Plastiscines and Living Things. Further details to be announced soon.
More info on The Bachelor:
Originally intended as a double-album, The Bachelor began its creation immediately following his tour for 2007’s critically acclaimed The Magic Position. Exploring his own doubts on ideas of love and marriage, Patrick found inspiration in experimentation with bleak electronic and industrial sounds, as well as finding solace in some of the classics of his teenage years like The Pixies and The Raincoats. Capturing Patrick’s outlook in life at that time, The Bachelor narrates a story of pessimism regarding love to be concluded with a forthcoming sequel album. Always expanding on his repertoire of different musical genres, Patrick’s command of baroque pop is taken to a new level with the addition of large choral and string sections, and collaborators such as Alec Empire, Tilda Swinton, Eliza Carthy, and Matthew Herbert.
Press on 2007’s The Magic Position:
“There’s nothing remotely not awesome about him.” – ROLLING STONE
“His pop romps seem like children’s dreams — all colors, twinkles, and buzzes.” — SPIN
“Impeccable pop songcraft.” – PITCHFORK
“His happiest and grandest pop work.” – MAGNET
