HEDLEY is a force to be reckoned with in Canadian Pop/Rock music. In three short years, the band has earned two multi-Platinum albums, with seven #1 songs. Nielsen’s 2008 year end BDS Top 10 Artist Airplay revealed HEDLEY ranking #2 (88,000 detections)- just behind Rihanna with 91,000, and surpassing other Canadian superstars such as Nickelback and Avril Lavigne. Subequently, HEDLEY swept the 2009 Radio Music Awards, winning Song Of The Year, Chart Topper & Fan’s Choice Awards. Last year, HEDLEY was lauded with multiple Juno nominations, and won in all major categories at the Much Music Video Awards (Canada’s equivalent toThe MTV Video Music Awards). HEDLEY’s infectious songs have simply become part of the fabric of Canadian pop culture. Now with HEDLEY’s debut US release, NEVER TOO LATE, Canada is sharing a best-kept secret with music fans across the US.

Vocalist Jacob Hoggard possesses the presence of Anthony Keidis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), the unique vocal quality of Billie Joe (Green Day), the cheek of Tom DeLonge (blink-182 / Angels & Airwaves) and the songwriting chops of the most popular American artists you hear all over the radio. In fact, you may have heard about Hoggard’s stint on popular television, when, as a result of a bar bet with his bandmates, he entered Canadian Idol (American Idol’s northern cousin) -and then dropped out of the competition when he found himself in the final three. It’s been established: Hoggard and co. certainly have the gumption to take America by storm.

HEDLEY’s fanbase has taken to the web in force, loving every morsel about their heroes. The first single from NEVER TOO LATE, a rumination on growing up called ‘Old School,’ which is quickly becoming this year’s American prom and graduation anthem, was released and reached #1 without a music video. Fans have taken to YouTube, where a video scroll of the song’s lyrics have been viewed well over a million times. “’Old School’ is an important song to the band and to me, personally,” says Hoggard. “It really defines a generation of people that understand the value of ‘the good old days,’ whether you’re older and miss them or young and know that every second counts.” There are over two million plays of HEDLEY’s music on MySpace, a number that is growing exponentially as the US marketplace ignites. “I think it’s ‘cause we don’t have a lot of friends and enjoy spending time on the internet, but it has always been important for the band to bridge that gap between ourselves and our fans. Keeping them close to what’s going on is imperative. These are the people that WANT to hear about what we’re doing and what’s going on, so why shouldn’t they? I guess we could use a little less ‘bathroom break Flickr updates’ but I think that is subjective,” Hoggard jokes.

NEVER TOO LATE is a US exclusive release which includes the seven #1 songs from the band’s two Canadian releases: HEDLEY (2005) and FAMOUS LAST WORDS (2007). There’s the take-no-shit, barreling-rocker “She’s So Sorry,” the R&B/soul ballad “For The Nights I Can’t Remember,” the reggae nod “Never Too Late” and punk-spat twits’ tale “Narcissist” — all linked by the band’s tight musicianship and Hoggard’s distinct plaintive vocals. “In the past 5 years the band has really come into our own, as far as definition goes. We have a real understanding of how we all work and write together. We’ve tried in the past to pigeonhole ourselves and we just get too uncomfortable too fast. We really take pride in our ability to emulate all sorts of musical styles. THAT is what defines us. You will never listen to our record and mistake one song for another. Ever.”

NEVER TOO LATE’s “321,” “On My Own,” and “Trip” were produced by Brian Howes (Hinder, Daughtry), and “Gunnin’,” was produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against, Red Hot Chili Peppers). The rest of the songs on NEVER TOO LATE were produced by Greig Nori (Sum 41).

The band has been well road-tested, selling out headlining tours from coast-to-coast. They even landed the coveted opening spot for Bon Jovi’s national arena tour, putting them in front of 200,000 people. Hoggard explains “Being on tour is where the band feels the most at home – mainly because of our fans. We have always treated our fans like friends, and they in turn have made sure we always feel welcome wherever we are.”

The US is sure to welcome HEDLEY into its pantheon of certified hitmakers – a place that will certainly feel like home. NEVER TOO LATE arrives just in time to make Hoggard and crew the purveyors of pop anthems for all aspects of life for years to come!
