GRAHAM GREER RELEASES SELF-TITLED, SOPHOMORE ALBUM JUNE 16! Summer Tour Dates Announced!

Popular Canadian singer-songwriter Graham Greer has been best known as the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for Barstool Prophets. Enjoying a successful solo career, Graham will be releasing his self-titled, sophomore album on June 16th! He’ll be touring in support of his new album with his new band – see dates below.

His former band, The Barstool Prophets achieved success with a string of rock radio hits in the mid-late 1990s off their albums – Deflowered (1993), Crank (1995) and Last of the Big Game Hunters (1997). Greer penned “Paranoia” (single off Crank) that was featured in Alliance/Atlantis major motion picture Never Talk to Strangers (starring Rebecca Demornay and Antonio Banderas in 1996). The band parted ways in 1999 and Graham took a break from the music business becoming a mechanic’s apprentice.

Greer found himself sending home recordings to his friend, veteran US producer Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Steve Earle, Tom Cochrane) to get some input and salvage his sanity. That effort would become his 2003, first solo CD Palookaville under the moniker Moonlight Graham which he co-produced with Joe.

On the new self-titled solo release, the production was shared between Graham, Joe Hardy and long-time friend and multi-instrumentalist Todd Huckabone. The new release sees Graham embracing and building on the strengths he has always displayed in the past while striking off in new directions musically. These new songs are a far cry from his alt-rock beginnings this time incorporating everything from the seething gypsy violin on “The Front” (a biting take on superficiality) to the haunting lap steel guitar on “Go” (written after the loss of a high school friend to cancer) to the alt-country swagger of “Buttercup” (a true story about a girl with a flower tattoo). The album features Graham’s signature phrase-turning wordplay which is evident in the seething anti-love anthem “Lovesong” (“This is a Lovesong because I love that you’re gone”). “Lovesong” will be hitting airwaves soon!

Graham Greer will be opening for Amanda Marshall at the Lift-Off Festival, and will be performing as part of the 1000 Islands Music Festival in Gananoque, ON. The line-up for the 1000 Island weekend includes Akon, Simple Plan, Pilot Speed, Ill Scarlet, Fefe Dobson, Faber Drive and Kardinal Offishall among many others. The purchase of a weekend pass gets you entered in a draw to win a new Chevy 2009 Cobalt LS Sedan. Come and see Graham and the new band = get a new car… hmmm… sounds like a plan!
