Fox Jaws snap back with second full-length on Nevado Records

Toronto — A brief and busy two years after the independent release of their debut full-length Goodbye Doris, Fox Jaws are back with a new album At Odds (or, Exercises in Separation While United in the Fall). The Barrie, Ontario-based five-piece will release the album on Nevado Records on August 18th.

At Odds showcases DuMaurier-voiced chanteuse Carleigh Aikins as the broken heart to Dan Allen’s introverted lyrics and swelling delayed guitar; Brandyn Aikins lays out the percussive map; guitarist and keyboardist Andrew Shropshire adds the sparkle and shine; and bassist Evan Rosevear drives the songs forward with a raucous, sweaty energy. Together they have forged a sound that is equal parts wall of noise, experiment, pop, and rock and roll.

Fox Jaws are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in Canadian music. Beginning nearly seven years ago in the brains of Dan and Brandyn and others now lost to the far reaches of the nation, Fox Jaws have constantly evolved, never wanting to let the grass die beneath their feet. But, the vigorous passion and raw power of live performance remains the mainstay of Fox Jaws’ ethos.

“This is a little more of a rock album than our last project,” says Shropshire. “Everyone has left their personal touch on each song – it’s not a songwriter’s album by any means, it’s a cumulative work and a bit of a boozy drive down a back road at night with the headlights off…our shows make the album real, playing the songs and putting all that energy back out into the universe is the real reward after all is said and done. The touring process is icing on the cake, we’re so psyched about playing new towns and cities”

Over the past few years Fox Jaws has had the pleasure and privilege of being featured at North by North-East, Pop Montreal and Canadian Music Week. They have also had the good fortune of sharing the stage with the likes of Constantines, Wintersleep, Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, and Tokyo Police Club.

Nevado Records is a Canadian record label that is committed to helping Canadian artists get noticed and heard
