ISLANDS TOUR WITH THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS AND HAPPY MONDAYS THIS FALL, ALONG WITH SELECT HEADLINING SHOWS FULL TOUR ACROSS NORTH AMERICA BEGINS 9/22 IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM VAPOURS ON ANTI- RECORDS

New York by-way-of Montreal’s Islands, the brainchild of front man Nick Diamonds, are hitting the road hard this fall, with dates stretching across most of North America, in support of their forthcoming opus, Vapours (Anti-, 9/22). They’ll be headlining most of the tour, but breaking from those dates briefly in the tour for 12 dates supporting the Psychedelic Furs and the reunited Happy Mondays.

Vapours, Islands’ latest, further solidifies Diamonds’ reputation as a class-A pop man, but also pushes their sound to the furthest edges of the skewed psychedelic frontiers forged by the band on their critically noted 2007 release, Arm’s Way. Utilizing synthesizers, drum machines, and atmospheric production techniques, the band, and new producer Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead, TV On The Radio, etc.), have delivered a record that lives up to the promise of their previous recorded output with an LP full of complex, swirling pop.

Also notable this time around is the return of former Islands member Jamie Thompson (Also a cohort with Nick Diamonds in The Unicorns), who departed from the group amicably prior to the recording of Arm’s Way. This reunited team is bringing a new touring group, and an all around new vision to Islands. These shows will be their first opportunity to fill audiences perceptions with Vapours….
