Victoria, BC, September 24, 2009 – transmitTALKS, presented by Blackberry, wrapped up day one of inspirational presentations and dozens of roundtable discussions focused on emerging markets and intellectual property.
Respected individuals from the music business and other cultural industries gathered at the historic Crystal Gardens, in Victoria BC to share ideas and inspiration at this year’s transmitTALKS.
Day one of transmitTALKS focused on the present and future role of copyright in music, and the ascendance of emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China.
Featured speakers included Kevin Arnold, CEO and Founder of IODA, Dr Hannes Blum, CEO of Acebooks, Inc., Walter F. McDonough, General Counsel, Future of Music Coalition, Sandy Pearlman, mega band manager, producer and media professor, and Jim Rondinelli, SVP Strategic Development Slacker Inc.
“I come back to transmission because the intellectual discourse operates on a much higher level than your typical entertainment industry confab. Irrespective of their own biases, people actually think and collaborate here,” says Rondinelli.
This international event welcomed participants from Australia, Finland, China, United Kingdom, and the United States.
“transmission translates into open access,” says Alyssa Tisné, 7digital’s Director of Strategy & Business Affairs. “7digital is an open company with open APIs that is always in pursuit of the right partnerships and connections. transmission brings together the right creative people with an ambitious tick. The sociable setting facilitates honest consideration of the issues faced by the key players in the digital music value chain.”
transmitLIVE (Victoria BC, Sept 24 -27) kicks off tonight. The aim of the three night event is to showcase artists from across the continent and around the globe to buyers from around the world while Rifflandia focuses its energy on building a memorable audience experience for all artists in all venues.
