SLOW CLUB TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM YEAH, SO MARCH 30th (RELEASE TO INCLUDE BONUS DISK OF B-SIDES AND LIVE MATERIAL) PLAN US DATES AND APPEARANCE AT SXSW 2010

Moshi Moshi Records is proud to announce the March 30th release of Yeah, So, the debut album from the celebrated Sheffield, England duo Slow Club. The album, previously released in the UK, will include a second disk of bonus material comprised of B-Sides and live recordings. It marks not only the first proper North American release for the band, but also their label Moshi Moshi, a well respected decade old UK based indie with an internationally established reputation as a purveyor of exquisite taste and a stalwart supporter of the music community. In conjunction with the release of Yeah, So, Slow Club will play North American dates including an appearance at SXSW 2010.

The musicians behind the disarming folk-pop of Slow Club are Charles and Rebecca, and though they are few in number, they manage to generate an incredibly dynamic sound. “Simplicity,” as the BBC noted, “is something they clearly aren’t afraid of: the backbone of their debut album is a range of uncomplicated ideas executed brilliantly and brazenly by a band of two.” The NME were quite brazen themselves when taking issue with those who might not appreciate the well-crafted melodies on Yeah, So. “These people,” they said, “for argument’s sake we’ll call them ‘idiots’”.

To create their music Charles and Rebecca share responsibility on vocals, alternately taking the lead and constantly harmonizing to both chilling and heartwarming effects. On the instrumental side Rebecca takes up the roll of percussionist, banging out ebullient rhythms on the drums. Charles fills out their sound with full-bodied guitar work that slides the scale from rollicking rockabilly to sweetly swaying finger picked ballads.

This past summer a trip to SXSW and a jaunt across the country with Moshi Moshi label mates The Wave Pictures and Casio Kids gave North America their first exposure to Slow Club. A few years on the touring circuit in Europe while releasing multiple 7″ singles had melded them into a formidable live act, and their confidence and enthusiasm flooded from the stage nightly as they wooed audiences for the East to the West coast. Those performances and the cross Atlantic trading of music between friends has already begun to cultivate a growing US fan base for the UK duo, whom were recently featured as one of Paste Magazine’s “Best of What’s Next”. This year Slow Club eagerly await the opportunity to get back in front of American audiences to continue their journey towards the total domination of hearts and minds across the globe.
