RISING UK BAND THE HOURS MAKES OFFICIAL US DEBUT WITH 4-SONG “ALI IN THE JUNGLE” EP — AVAILABLE NOW ON iTUNES

The acclaimed UK band The Hours made its avidly awaited stateside debut on January 26 with the release of “Ali In The Jungle,” a four-song digital EP available on iTunes now.

Inspired by the historic 1974 world heavyweight bout between then-reigning champion George Foreman and former title-holder Muhammad Ali, “Ali In The Jungle” is a hard-hitting and hook-packed paean to the human spirit with an unforgettable litany of powerhouse triumph in the chorus.

An ideal introduction to The Hours for US music fans, the “Ali In The Jungle” EP includes “These Days,” “A Thousand Years” and a lush orchestral mix of “Ali In The Jungle.”

A video for “Ali In The Jungle,” a highly detailed stop-motion animation directed by Jonas Odell (U2, Goldfrapp, Madonna), will also be released.

The Hours came together when singer-songwriter-producer Antony Genn, whose resume includes stints with Elastica and Pulp, was inspired to write songs “that are honest blood and guts on the floor” after seeing a Patti Smith performance. Genn rang up keyboardist Martin Slattery, his previous bandmate in The Mescaleros, Joe Strummer’s post-Clash band, and The Hours formed shortly thereafter. After experiencing The Hours’ music, Genn’s good friend Damien Hirst, the controversial post-modern UK artist, threw his support behind the band, developing a clock’s-eyed skull “logo” for The Hours’ records and on-stage set.

A live force to be reckoned with, The Hours have toured with Oasis and Kasabian and and opened seven UK shows for U2 in 2009.
