We The Kings SET TO RELEASE SMILE KID ON AUGUST 31st

Named after their hometown Bradenton, Florida’s King Middle School where they first made music together, members Travis Clark, Hunter Thomsen, Drew Thomsen, and Danny Duncan have grown into one of the most exciting and infectious bands on the pop-rock circuit. On August 31st, We the Kings will release their sophomore album, Smile Kid on S-curve Records/Awesome/EMI in Canada.

The band’s new album has been much anticipated after the success of their self-titled debut which hit #1 on Billboard’s New Alternative Album sales chart and has since sold over 2 million tracks. Their songs have had over 56 million plays on MySpace, and 15 million YouTube video plays (including the #1 most played music video for “Check Yes Juliet.”)

Produced by S*A*M & Sluggo (Boys Like Girls, Cobra Starship, Metro Station), the band already have a hit on their hands with the lead single, “We’ll Be A Dream” featuring American actress and singer-songwriter Demi Lovato (Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Sonny With A Chance). The track was just nominated for a Teen Choice Award and is currently heating up the radio charts here in Canada.

Since the release of their first album, We the Kings have toured extensively and have shared the stage with Metro Station, Valencia, All Time Low, Boys Like Girls and The Audition. In 2009 and 2010, the band gained further exposure with their performances at the Vans Warped Tour. Their music has been licensed for the CW, MTV, Rock Band, and more, and they have also made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, MTV’s TRL and Spring Break 2008.

The title of the new release, Smile Kid, sums up the band’s attitude. As Clark explains, “we are all about living life as happy as possible, and when you seem down, just remember to Smile Kid.” These infectious high spirits and camaraderie energize their on-the-road videos and live performances.
