Western Canada’s largest music and arts festival Sled Island takes place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from June 20-23, 2012. The expanded festival lineup now includes The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, The Antlers, ambient experimental artist Tim Hecker, Canadian alt-country veterans The Sadies, How To Dress Well, legendary garage rockers Reigning Sound, Doldrums, Duchess Says, and many more. Sled Island features over 200 music acts plus comedy, film, and art in over 30 venues, including the outdoor main stage at Olympic Plaza with Feist, Timber Timbre and guests on Friday, June 22 and The Hold Steady, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks plus guests on Saturday, June 23. Due to popular demand, Sled Island’s Comedy Lineup has grown from two nights to four for the 2012 festival. This year’s impressive host of talent features classic stand up comedian Todd Barry, Tim Heidecker from Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show, Neil Hamburger making his triumphant return, jaywalking New Yorker Hannibal Burress, L.A. actress and comedian Natasha Leggero, and Vice Magazine co-founder Gavin McInnes. A limited amount of advance tickets for comedy and other select shows go on sale this Saturday, April 7 at 10am via sledisland.com
As previously announced, the lineup also includes Archers of Loaf, Grimes, Andrew W.K., Thurston Moore, Russian Circles, Trust, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN. Sled Island 2012 guest curators are Andrew W.K. and Danny Vacon of the Dudes. The full lineup, featuring over 200 music acts plus more comedy, film, and art, will be announced on May 1.
