SoundLand Music Festival October 6, 2012 The Lawn at Riverfront Park | Nashville, TN

SoundLand Music Festival is less than a month away and it’s gearing up for the biggest year ever – this one-day outdoor extravaganza will provide international tastemakers, music industry leaders and fans with the best music, art, food and entertainment that Nashville has to offer. This year’s lineup, which can be viewed here, delivers yet another incredibly diverse range of talent, including My Morning Jacket, Young The Giant, Divine Fits, JD McPherson and many more. Taking place on the 6th of October, the festivities will commence for the first time ever at downtown Nashville’s new open green space, The Lawn at Riverfront Park, which has never before hosted a music festival. This breathtaking open space sets a refreshing new tone for SoundLand 2012, a welcomed change of pace that was initiated to ensure that all of the action was happening in a centralized location, creating a more enjoyable environment where fans can rest assured that they won’t miss a note.

Since it’s inception in 2006, SoundLand Music Festival has attracted the attention of the masses, creating a stellar reputation as a top tier music conference that gave industry insiders and music fans a taste of what Nashville’s diverse creative community had to offer. What began as a multi-day event called Next BIG Nashville in 2006 became SoundLand Festival in 2011. From the intimate showcases at Station Inn to the rowdy block parties on 12th avenue, SoundLand became an annual tradition, adapting each year in the constantly evolving world that is Music City. Every fall, music fans from around the globe head to the south, all with the hope of discovering fresh, emerging talent first, in genres ranging from rock, pop and hip hop to roots, soul and indie. And every year, SoundLand delivers exactly what they were hoping to find.

“SoundLand is vying to position the city and its diverse talent next to similar creative enclaves like Austin and L.A., shaking the world’s tired and inaccurate image of Nashville as solely honky-tonkin’ in the process. Each year, the scope of the festival gets more immense, as Nashville acts perform next to internationally renown artists at the height of their relevancy. This year, that strategy couldn’t be any more realized: Yeasayer, Washed Out, RJD2, Wavves, and Javelin are just a few of the artists that have descended on Nashville in recent days to open arms from the city’s creative, academic and business communities. In other words, while it’s still held in untouchable reverence, the Grand Ole’ Opry might not any longer be the hottest ticket in town.” Magnet Magazine

“Next Big Nashville (SoundLand), is the perfect showcase for Nashville’s talent. This year’s edition featured the biggest and best lineup yet – each year the fest continues to take more steps towards becoming a nationally recognized, top-tier music festival. Last year, they took an important step in attracting nationally recognized acts. This year, they stepped it up, bringing in the biggest names the fest has seen to date.” Consequence of Sound

“Best Music Scene In America” Rolling Stone

“The most electric spot in the South” GQ

“…like Silicon Valley’s broad reach across high-tech fields from hardward to software, biotech to green energy, Nashville has become the center for multiple musical genres from country and gospel to rock and pop, attracting top talent from across the United States and the globe.” Richard Florida, The Atlantic
