The nominees for the 2013 JUNO Awards were announced last week by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in Toronto with Japandroids picking up a nomination for “Alternative Album of the Year” for their sophomore full-length, Celebration Rock. Having already reached the Short List for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, Japandroids can celebrate another nod, this time from CARAS, capping an incredible past year. Response to Celebration Rock has been tremendous, not only in Canada, where first single, “The House That Heaven Built”, garnered airplay across the country, but worldwide. Japandroids wrapped up an incredible run of dates in Asia and Australia that night in Osaka, Japan, and will perform the second single off Celebration Rock “The Nights Of Wine And Roses”, tonight on “CONAN”, while the song again climbs the radio charts at home.

Japandroids released Celebration Rock last May, debuting at #37 on the Billboard U.S. charts. The album was produced by Jesse Gander and Japandroids and has been called “pedal to the metal rock” by Exclaim!and “a rock record for the ages” by Pitchfork and critics have unanimously agreed with that. Japandroids have a slew of festival performances already announced for 2013, including SXSW, Coachella, Sasquatch, Governors Island and Bonnaroo, with many more to be announced.
