Animal Collective are set to release a new five track studio EP on November 23rd 2009 (digitally) and 15th December (physically).

Recorded by Ben Allen at Sweet Tea in Oxford, MS in February 2008 and at Mission Sound in Brooklyn, NY August 2009, Fall Be Kind includes recent live favorites Graze and What Would I Want? Sky (featuring the first ever licensed Grateful Dead sample). Fall be Kind will be available worldwide on CD, 12” vinyl and via digital download.

The EP comes less than one year after the band’s critically acclaimed album Merriweather Post Pavilion which wowed fans and critics across the globe. Merriweather has already been named one of the most important albums of the year by Q magazine and Spin in the US, and of the entire decade by Uncut and Pitchfork. Expect to see Merriweather Post Pavillion named one of the year’s best by fans and critics as the year comes to a close.

“Summertime Clothes”, the second single taken from Animal Collective’s universally acclaimed LP, Merriweather Post Pavilion, will be available July 7th in North America on 12” and digitally. “Summertime Clothes” is a deliriously warm and instantly infectious track. Pitchfork commented that the song “starts with an almost militaristic pomp, but soon reaches a place of pure sweetness with a simple chorus hook (”I want to walk around with you”) that could have come from any point in the last 100 years

Remixes are courtesy of Hyperdub’s elusive and spooky beatmaker, Zomby, LA’s ‘Ambassador of Boogie Funk’ Dam-Funk, and South London breakbeat and dubstep producer, LD

Animal Collective recently gave a stunning performance of Summertime Clothes on the David Letterman show in the US. The band was joined by Brooklyn dance troupe FLEX who will also be featured in the forthcoming Danny Perez directed video. Check out the Letterman performance here:

The album, available now on Domino Records, is Animal Collective’s ninth studio album and was recorded with Ben Allen in Oxford, Mississippi. Animal Collective is set to release Merriweather Post Pavilion, their 9th full-length album, January 20th, 2009 on Domino Records. By condensing a palate of swirling and innovative guitar voyages and a sweat-soaked baroque punk ethos that loses itself in carpet-crawling majesty, Gringo Star has emerged as Atlanta’s favorite rock and roll sons. Brothers Nick and Pete Furgiuele, along with Pete DeLorenzo and Matt McCalvin have continually built momentum, crisscrossing the country and honing their chops on rock and roll’s frontline.

Crafting an art-damaged and intense presence, the group’s sound falls somewhere between The Animals, Motown and The Kinks. In person, the group’s soft-spoken demeanor instills a sense of alluring mystery, but on stage, Gringo Star explode. Never ones to hang on to the same instruments for too long, each member of the group sprints and hurdles from station to station, swapping out guitar for bass for drums for voice, keyboard for accordion, kazoo for tambourine. As a result, the band’s multifaceted musicianship culminates in dense and cerebral rock mantras that are hard-wired to the head and heart.
