The festival producers also plan to build upon the success of last years greening initiative. In 2007, Treasure Island Music Festival implemented a festival-wide composting system, and are extremely proud to achieve a 72% waste diversion rate, the second-best of any San Francisco event in 2007. In all, the festival composted or recycled over 9 tons of waste! Hosting a festival at such a beautiful site as Treasure Island makes it even more important to minimize our carbon footprint. This year, the Festival plan to take the next step, aiming for an even higher waste diversion rate and further reducing their carbon footprint by provide zero-emission buses to transport concert go-ers from AT&T Park to Treasure Island, using biodiesel generators and giving ticket purchasers with have the opportunity to add $1 to ?Green? their ticket and help offset the Treasure Island Music Festival?s carbon dioxide emissions.
Organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation?s longest-running music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, a nationally established independent concert promoter based in Berkeley, CA, the Treasure Island Music Festival has been called a ?full blown love affair? by SPIN.COM, and has SF WEEKLY boasting that ?NorCal has its own Micro-achella.?
The two-day celebration will have plenty of interactive activities for the audience including bringing back the 60ft. tall ferris wheel, performance artists Big Nazo, free hairstyling from Madu Salon, a 32ft. live painted mural wall (featuring notable Bay Area Artists (Andrew Schoultz, Hillary Pecis, and Tara Foley), and double-dutch and hula hoop lessons, just to name a few of the exciting things available in addition to the music for concert-goers.
To off-set traffic congestion and limited amount of parking on Treasure Island, Another Planet and Noise Pop will be providing transportation on and off the island to ticket holders at no additional cost to patrons. Included in Single-Day and Two-Day ticket price is complimentary parking at AT&T Park (San Francisco) with transportation to/from the island from 11AM- 11PM each day. Additional means to gain access to the island without purchasing VIP tickets or taking the complimentary shuttle from Lot A would be through Muni / AC Transit (via 108 at the Transbay Terminal), taxi service, or limo / private shuttle rental.
Treasure Island Music Festival runs from 12:00PM to 10:00PM each day. Single day tickets cost $65.00. Two-day tickets cost $115.00. There will also be a limited quantity of VIP tickets sold as a four-pack, which includes four VIP tickets to one day of the festival, one VIP parking spot on the island, preferred viewing area, VIP Lounge with full bar and other amenities for $445.00.
