In all, the festival composted or recycled over 9 tons of waste! Hosting a festival at such a beautiful site as Treasure Island makes it even more important to minimize our carbon footprint. This year, the Festival plan to take the next step, aiming for an even higher waste diversion rate and further reducing their carbon footprint by provide zero-emission buses to transport concert go-ers from AT&T Park to Treasure Island, using biodiesel generators and giving ticket purchasers with have the opportunity to add $1 to ?Green? their ticket and help offset the Treasure Island Music Festival?s carbon dioxide emissions.

Organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation?s longest-running music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, a nationally established independent concert promoter based in Berkeley, CA, the Treasure Island Music Festival has been called a ?full blown love affair? by SPIN.COM, and has SF WEEKLY boasting that ?NorCal has its own Micro-achella.?

The two-day celebration will have plenty of interactive activities for the audience including bringing back the 60ft. tall ferris wheel, performance artists Big Nazo, free hairstyling from Madu Salon, a 32ft. live painted mural wall (featuring notable Bay Area Artists (Andrew Schoultz, Hillary Pecis, and Tara Foley), and double-dutch and hula hoop lessons, just to name a few of the exciting things available in addition to the music for concert-goers.

To off-set traffic congestion and limited amount of parking on Treasure Island, Another Planet and Noise Pop will be providing transportation on and off the island to ticket holders at no additional cost to patrons. Included in Single-Day and Two-Day ticket price is complimentary parking at AT&T Park (San Francisco) with transportation to/from the island from 11AM- 11PM each day. Additional means to gain access to the island without purchasing VIP tickets or taking the complimentary shuttle from Lot A would be through Muni / AC Transit (via 108 at the Transbay Terminal), taxi service, or limo / private shuttle rental.

Treasure Island Music Festival runs from 12:00PM to 10:00PM each day. Single day tickets cost $65.00. Two-day tickets cost $115.00. There will also be a limited quantity of VIP tickets sold as a four-pack, which includes four VIP tickets to one day of the festival, one VIP parking spot on the island, preferred viewing area, VIP Lounge with full bar and other amenities for $445.00.

NETTWERK RECORDS TO RELEASE CLOSER: THE BEST OF SARAH MCLACHLAN ON OCTOBER 7, 2008
16 Track Anthology Surveys The Spectacular Career Of The Multi-Platinum Singer/Songwriter And Includes Two Brand New And Previously Unreleased Recordings

On October 7th, 2008, multi-platinum Nettwerk recording artist Sarah McLachlan will release the first best-of collection of her long and illustrious career.

Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan contains 14 classic tracks personally selected by the artist from her award-winning catalog, as well as two newly recorded and previously unreleased songs, “U Want Me 2″ and “Don’t Give Up On US,” working with her longtime producer Pierre Marchand. Additionally, a deluxe 2-CD version will be available, which will include the 16 song album plus a bonus disc of additional songs from Sarah’s discography.

In celebration of Closer, Sarah will be releasing “U Want Me 2″ as the first new single since releasing original music in 2003. Available digitally on August 12th, “U Want Me 2″ will impact your radio waves and digital retailers instantly. Be the first to own this piece of the abiding Sarah McLachlan legacy on August 12th by purchasing “U Want Me 2″ directly from her official online store or on iTunes.

Since signing with Nettwerk nearly two decades ago, every one of Sarah McLachlan’s studio and live albums and videos have been certified gold, platinum, multi-platinum, or diamond by the CRIA, starting with Touch (1988) and Solace (1991), both platinum sellers. Her 1993 breakthrough, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (3x platinum) was followed by the digitally enhanced multimedia version of The Freedom Sessions (1996, gold). Sarah’s landmark fourth album, the Diamond certified Surfacing (1997), contained two Grammy Award-winning tracks, as “Building a Mystery” won for Best Female Pop Vocal, and “Last Dance” was voted Best Pop Instrumental. 1999’s quadruple-platinum Mirrorball, and its platinum long-form video counterpart, were both culled from that year’s Lilith Fair tour, and spun off Sarah’s third Grammy-winning performance, as “I Will Remember You” won for Best Female Pop Vocal. The 5 times platinum Afterglow followed in 2003, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album, while its opening track, “Fallen” was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal.

Here are some of the highlights of Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan:

- “Good Enough,” “Possession” – Both tracks are culled from Sarah McLachlan’s third Nettwerk album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (released 10/22/1993), her commercial break through and first Billboard Top 50 chart entry. “McLachlan never flinches, never takes the easy route of cliche and formula. This care and attention given to her art allows each song to stand strong individually, making the whole an extraordinary collection.” (AllMusic.com)

- “Building A Mystery” – Taken from the Diamond-certified album Surfacing (released 7/15/1997), which entered the Billboard chart at Number Two, “Building A Mystery” won the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal. (”Last Dance,” a second track from Surfacing not included on the new collection, was voted Best Pop Instrumental.)

- “I Will Remember You” – Sarah McLachlan founded the legendary Lilith Tour in 1997 and her quadruple-platinum album, Mirrorball (released 6/15/1999), was recorded live during the 1999 tour. “I Will Remember You” from Mirrorball earned Sarah her third career Grammy Award, again in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal.

- “Fallen” – The opening track from Sarah’s double-platinum album Afterglow (released 11/4/2003), which reached Number Two on the Billboard Top 200. “Fallen” was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Feale Pop Vocal. In addition, Afterglow was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.

- “U Want Me 2,” “Don’t Give Up On Us” – Composed by Sarah McLachlan and co-produced by Sarah and Pierre Marchand, these new recordings will be a special treat for fans who eagerly await the follow-up to Afterglow, Sarah’s last album of all-original material.

Nettwerk Records is distributed by Sony BMG Music Canada.

2008 will be a year like no other for *POP Montreal*. We have been inspired like never before. A rumbling from the underground has struck our souls and we are happy to offer you the first glimpse at our initial programming. To begin we have the insurmountable songwriting legend *Burt Bacharach*, perhaps the single most important figure in popular music of the 20^th. As far as legends go there may be no greater voice than that of the Grammy winning *Irma Thomas*, the undisputed Soul Queen of New Orleans who will make an exclusive appearance at the festival this year. If you’re getting excited, hold your breath; we will also have shows by the amazingly prolific and poetic-punk troubadour *Nick Cave*, the seminal and brilliant *WIRE*, and the godfathers of experimental electronic psych *Silver Apples.* In addition, there will be the single most important benchmark for a cappella music, Brooklyn’s *The Persuasions*. Added to this list are other stand-outs including Canadian rap legend, *Michie Mee*, upstarts like *Black Kids, Crystal Castles, Dan Deacon *and *The Dodos*, as well as *Hot Chip, Vetiver, T.
NOTEWORTHY:

If you like it when the buzz about a performer ends up being all true – stay tuned to Lori Michaels. Her full-length CD debut, “Living My Life Out Loud,” couldn’t be more aptly titled, period – and is slated for release on Reform Records.

She’s been singing and dancing since she could talk and walk. But Michaels’ career launched into new orbit in 2006, following her official “Coming Out” party at the House of Blues’ Club Worship in Atlantic City. It was a House of Blues first, and a turning point for Michaels in her evolution to in-demand solo artist and nationwide headliner with her head-turning Me & The Girls shows.

In a time when coming out has evolved from something equated with fear to something much more about freedom, Michaels has freed her artistic soul to deliver “Living My Life Out Loud.” It is a testament to, above all else, her love of the song – whether that means writing, arranging and performing the vocals (lead and backgrounds), showcasing her talents on the piano/keys, or overseeing production with the best in the business to leave listeners breathless.

Since her Coming Out in March of 2006, Michaels has taken Me & The Girls to venues including a Ladies Rock concert in Philadelphia, opening engagements for the Village People and Ashford & Simpson, a headliner performance for Showtime and the Human Rights Campaign at the New York City 2008 L Word Premiere Party, a Sing Out for AIDS special guest performance with Betty (of Showtime’s L Word), and Pride events from New York all the way to California.

JAY REATARD COMPILES 2006-2007 SINGLES FOR ELABORATELY PACKAGED CD/DVD COMPILATION OUT ON IN THE RED RECORDS JUNE 17, 2008

SPRING TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Garage/punk rock artist Jay Reatard is no stranger to the 7″ format, having released dozens over the years, including his current series of six limited edition 7″s on Matador Records (#3 comes out on June 24).

2006 and 2007 was an insanely prolific time for Jay, as he left behind his many bands and projects (among them The Reatards, The Lost Sounds, Angry Angles, Final Solutions, Bad Times, Terror Visions, etc.) and started recording under his own name, taking musical cues from Wipers, Wire, The Clean, The Adverts, and 999. Five singles were released around the time of his breakthrough album Blood Visions, as some of those album’s songs first appeared in versions on 7″ singles first.

Culled from now long out-of-print singles on In The Red, Goner, Squoodge, P. Trash, and Stained Circles, in pressings which ranged from 500 to 3000, Singles 06-07 highlights 17 songs of Jay at his most creative and hyper-melodic. Here Jay plays all the instruments on all the songs (save one guitar part on “All Wasted” by Alix Brown of Angry Angels), and recorded, mixed, and mastered all the recordings. The deluxe package also includes four live concerts capturing Jay’s blistering, breakneck shows from Philadelphia, Las Vegas, New York City, and The Netherlands.

Jay will soon be heading out on the road again, playing festivals in Chicago, Seattle, and Denmark, opening for Spoon and Le Savy Fav, and headlining many shows with support from In The Red artist Cheap Time. Dates below.

Meanwhile Jay has just completed the final songs for Matador’s single series, all six of which will be compiled on a CD/LP compilation to be released this September. He’s now hard at work on his next full-length and proper Matador Records debut, slated for an early 2009 release.
