SXSW TO BE ANNOUNCED
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, The Temper Trap has emerged as a major contender for 2009. Destined to take America by storm with their cinematic and soul souring sounds, drawing unavoidable comparisons to the likes of Curtis Mayfield, TV on the radio and Radiohead. Their live performances have gained notable attention from Perez Hilton, Pitchfork Media and BBC’s Zane Lowe and Steve Lemaq with their intense and energetic live shows; also ensuring an impressive tour resume through out 2008, with the band gracing the stage in Australia with acts including Modest Mouse, Kasabian and Cold War Kids. It is without a doubt when this Austrailan rock quartet hit our shores this Spring for gigs in NYC, LA and at this years SXSW in Austin, people will soon be talking about The Temper Trap for a long time to come.
The Temper Trap entered Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios to record their much anticipated debut album. Approaching the album equipped with a series of epic new tracks, wild dreams and bundles of nervous energy. An arrangement of atmospheric grooves, crowned by the vocal powers of singer Dougie, who’s captivating voice and songwriting skills gained the worthy and enthusiastic attention of revered UK producer named Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele, U.N.K.L.E, Bjork) prompting the band to work with him on their soon to be release debut album.
A Natural progression soon began to take place in the making of this timeless full length LP; embellishing the songs with washes of keys, strings and choirs. It is an album equally ambitious as it is bold – never content to settle into predictability, neither within the confines of a single track or across the spectrum of the album, The Temper Trap are sure to have you singing along, tapping your feet and rocking out as fast as you’ll be telling the next person about this incredibly exciting up and coming quartet.
The band have also recently been signed by the prestigious High Road Touring Agency in the US and CAA in the UK and Europe as well as to newly reformed Infectious Records for UK and Europe, joining an unstoppable legion of rock icons on both sides of the Atlantic – and all this without currently having a record label to reside to in North America.
The Temper Trap has undeniably arrived.
