<p>Seattle, WA &#8212; City Arts Magazine is thrilled to announce the return of Heineken City Arts Fest, a music and arts festival in Seattle, Washington to be held on October 20-22, 2011, in 20 clubs, halls and venues throughout the city.</p>
<p>Heineken City Arts Fest will feature headline performances from alt-country/ rock singer- songwriter Ryan Adams at Benaroya Hall, dance pop artist Robyn at the Paramount Theatre, rock gods Built to Spill at the Moore Theatre (in their only Northwest performance for 2011), electronic dance purveyors Crystal Castles and the Latin flavored hip hop of Ozomatli &#8212; both with shows at Showbox SoDo. City Arts Fest also marks the Seattle return of two critically acclaimed hip-hop acts to grace the Showbox Market stage &#8212; Blackalicious (with its first appearance since 2006) &#038; legendary collective Freestyle Fellowship (with its first appearance in 10 years, with original line-up). Other notable acts include Shelby Lynne, The Long Winters, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine, Mudhoney, the recently reunited Fastbacks, and The Felice Brothers; to up and comers Allen Stone, Campfire OK, Pictureplane, Male Bonding, USF, and more. New this year is the inclusion of the Seattle Laser Dome, hosting &#8220;evening with&#8221; performances from the likes of Seattle&#8217;s School of Rock (performing grunge classics), Man Man and Helio Sequence &#8212; set to a laser light show.</p>
<p>Heineken City Arts Fest has also expanded its performing arts line up by teaming up with 4Culture, and working with Sara Edwards to curate the performing and visual arts programming. The arts program features interdisciplinary art showcases, exhibitions and events featuring 30+ local and national artists, and includes four Seattle premieres: The Can Can will play host to celebrated Wooster Group &#038; The Foundry Theatre performer Steve Cuiffo in his one man show Steve Cuiffo is Lenny Bruce, which New York Magazine calls both &#8220;masterful&#8221; &#038; &#8220;eerily accurate&#8221;; Daniel Barrow, a Montreal-based projection artist who&#8217;s supported the likes of Miranda July and Antony and the Johnsons, and been widely exhibited throughout North America, will make his Seattle debut with his award-winning original show Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry. Meanwhile Theatre Off Jackson will host My Mind Is Like An Open Meadow, the five-time Portland Drammy award winning performance by Erin Leddy of Hand2Mouth Theatre; and the world premiere of Seateeth by Jose Bold (John Osebold of &#8220;Awesome&#8221;), who turned heads recently in the New York by premiering his own original musical &#8220;Spidermann&#8221; before the Broadway version officially opened.</p>
<p>Other arts showcase highlights include Genre Bender, an exciting new platform for some of Seattle&#8217;s favorite theater, dance, food, music, literary and performing artists to create new projects (and new artistic genres) together; Ecstasy of Influence with poets Heather McHugh, Kary Wayson, Kate Lebo and Erika Wilder with arts/bluegrass trio The Half Brothers; Pie Life, a storytelling and bakeoff event with hosts Kate Lebo and KUOW&#8217;s Jeannie Yandel; All-ages, all-levels &#8220;Thriller&#8221; Dance Class with Waxie Moon, Inga Ingénue and Lou Henry Hoover; So You Think It&#8217;s Dance? (Show) + Tell with local dance luminaries Jessica Jobaris, The Cherdonna &#038; Lou Show, Douglas Ridings, Malie Martinez and local critics Sandi Kurtz, Leah Baltus, Brendan Kiley, and artist Waxie Moon; The film &#8220;Color Me Obsessed&#8221; a documentary about the Replacements, along with a covers night in tribute to the band; Visual art exhibits and events by D.K. Pan, nko, Amanda Manitach, Serrah Russell, Klara Glosova, Sierra Stinson and Michael Van Horn. And sing-a-longs to the musical films Hedwig &#038; The Angry Inch, Purple Rain, and Grease.</p>
<p>Heineken City Arts Festival is produced by City Arts, a multimedia company that produces a free monthly magazine that covers music, arts and urban life in the Puget Sound area as well as events throughout the year. The festival sold 23,000 tickets in its inaugural year, with featured performances from the likes of Belle and Sebastian, She &#038; Him, Cat Power and more. Recent City Arts covers have featured Seattle artists Macklemore, Shabazz Palaces and Head &#038; the Heart. Heineken City Arts Fest aims to provide a different festival experience that embraces the indoor, urban lifestyle synonymous with the 9 month NW rainy season and captures the curatorial aesthetic of the monthly magazine. <p>*We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Sufjan Stevens to the ATP-curated Saturday lineup. Stevens, who will be releasing Run Rabbit Run (a re-arrangement of his 2001 album Enjoy Your Rabbit) in October, has not played a US show in over two years, and this is sure to be a special performance.*</p>
<p>All Tomorrow&#8217;s Parties (ATP) is happy to announce its return to Kutsher&#8217;s Country Club in Monticello, New York for the 2nd annual ATP New York festival. The event will be held Sept 11-13, 2009.</p>
<p>Last year&#8217;s festival, co-curated by My Bloody Valentine, was a critical and cultural success with rave reviews from media and fans. This year&#8217;s Fest will be co-curated by The Flaming Lips.</p>
<p>Friday will feature a first New York show in a long time by The Jesus Lizard and ATP favourites Iron and Wine. They will join the Don&#8217;t Look Back shows also taking place on Friday: The Feelies performing Crazy Rhythms, New York&#8217;s finest Suicide performing their first LP, Dirty Three performing Ocean Songs and The Drones performing Wait Long By The River&#8230; The evening will be rounded off with the Comedy Stage hosted and curated by the one and only David Cross.</p>
<p>Saturday is curated by ATP and we are happy to announce new additions to the lineup, including Sufjan Stevens, Shellac, Circulatory System, and Grouper. Saturday will also feature Animal Collective and an exclusive performance by Panda Bear. Other confirmed acts include Boss Hog, Deerhunter, Bridezilla, Melvins, Black Dice, Dead Meadow, Autolux, EL-P, Akron Family, Antipop Consortium, Atlas Sound and the hotly tipped Sleepy Sun.</p>
<p>Sunday is curated by the outlandish Flaming Lips. Every act that plays will perform an exclusive special show, bespoke for this event. New additions to Sunday are Crystal Castles, Super Furry Animals, Boris, and Low Lows, and special sets are expected from all. Also just announced, “Oneida presents the Ocropolis&#8221; – where Oneida will transport the impetus, spirit and community of their multidisciplinary studio/performance space, The Ocropolis, to ATP for a full day of improvisation, collaboration, and recording, combined with the astounding Mighty Robot Visuals light crew. Previously announced acts include Boredoms continuing their BOADRUM series, performing with 9 drummers on stage. No Age will perform a whole LP by Husker Du including a special guest vocalist. Deerhoof will perform with special visuals by Martha Colburn. Caribou will perform as Caribou Vibration Ensemble, with a 4 piece horn section, 4 drummers and a choir and guests that include  Kieran Hebden (Four Tet/Fridge/Kieran Hebden &#038; Steve Reid), Koushik (Stones Throw Records), John Schmersal (Enon, Brainiac), Kathryn Bint (One Little Plane), Ahmed Gallab (Sinkane), Marshall Allen (Sun Ra Arkestra) and more.</p>
<p>The cinema for the weekend is hosted by Criterion. Expect more of the same greatness in 2009, with no-holds-barred programming both musically and otherwise. Capacity limited to just 2800 people!</p>
