IRAN RETURN WITH HOT NEW DISSOLVER ALBUM ALBUM SET FOR FEBURARY 03, 2009 RELEASE ON NARNACK RECORDS FEATURES TV ON THE RADIO’S KYP MALONE AS GUITARIST

Fans of experimental noise-popsters Iran know that seeing them is even rarer than catching a glimpse of the reclusive David Berman or Jeff Mangum, but those fans will soon have cause to celebrate. The trio of singer/multi-instrumentalist Aaron Aites, guitarist Kyp Malone (yes that Kyp Malone) and guitarist Aaron Romanello, are planning to release a third full-length album DISSOLVER in February 2009.

IRAN marks their return to the fold with the release of “Dissolver”, in which the band proves it’s left the bedroom and opted for the high fidelity of a full fledged recording studio. The sizzled haze of IRAN’s four-track-recorded early records may have obscured their pop sensibility, but no more. Shedding much of the cackle, hiss & detuned guitars, Aites pop songs are at the fare on Dissolver, with Malone and Romanello bringing this lo-fi dementia into full bloom.

Aites describes the new album as “very hi-fi”, “more structured” and more “fully fleshed out” than their previous two outings, Iran (self-titled) and The Moon Boys. He also said it’s more lyric-based (in the vein of The Moon Boys), with material sounding “louder and grimmer.”

Iran also just releaser an EP released in October 2008 featuring the single “Buddy” from DISSOLVER, a cover of John Lennon’s “Isolation” and “Airport 77” a prelude to “Airport” 79 also from Dissolver.

The release of Dissolver marks the long awaited return of IRAN & has the industries tastemakers salivating in anticipation. Having received top marks from Pitchfork (8.7 & 9.1) for their first two releases and numerous other accolades—the much-anticipated Dissolver will not disappoint.

For those of you wondering about the bands name IRAN is not a reference to the country but to a character of Philip K. Dick—if you get the reference you are a worthy fan of all things cool–

“a dizzying revelry, but also a scary, late-night lock-down. With repeated listens sounds bloom, open and deepen, and a story develops. Hooks disappear. Flubbed notes remain and turn dusty, then to prismatic gold.”
