JOSH REICHMANN ORACLE BAND RESPONDS TO BAT FOR LASHES’ “DANIEL,” ALBUM “CRAZY POWER” OUT TODAY!

Toronto artist Josh Reichmann Oracle Band (formerly of Frenchkiss post-punk band Tangiers) has decided to cover another newly-famed indie hit, this time, a haunting male response to Bat For Lashes’ incredible song, “Daniel.” Josh is making the cover available for mp3 download in celebration of the release of his debut LP, “Crazy Power,” out today on Paper Bag Records.

According to Josh: “I’m aiming with these covers (Deerhunter, Bat For Lashes and Bill Callahan upcoming) to showcase the songwriting that I think is strongest by these artists and refrence there production but put my spin on them- which is to bring a raw strange life to there voices and recontextualize or open up the lyrical themes to new dementions. I only cover things that feel soulfull or timless, something I strive for in my music.”

Josh Reichmann Oracle Band and Paper Bag Records celebrate the release of his full-length debut, “Crazy Power,” out today. The followup to his “Life Is Legal” EP, Josh has gone in a new direction since Tangiers split, gathering from a pool of soul, early-funk, roots and dark punk influences. Already known for being an enigmatic performer, he now fronts a five-piece band, incorporating heavy saxophone, Stevie Wonder-meets-The Stooges keyboards, soul-style drumming, a live dancer(formerly of the National Ballet), and thick roots bass.

Josh and his band recently wrapped a US tour with collaborator Sebastian Grainger and will hit the road once again in support of “Crazy Power’”s release.

“[Josh Reichmann] the charismatic frontman has produced an arty rock-psychedelic album so inherently bold and confident that it’s sensible for him to take credit for it. (And if he hadn’t done so ’70s-era Brian Eno may have.) – HEEB

“Josh Reichmann has shed his punky sides in favor of something a bit jazzier…a medley of bombastic horns, roots-rock bass and groovy vocals.” – CMJ

“He’s also handsome.” – The Fader
