For Immediate Release:

KOTTONMOUTH KINGS TO RELEASE ‘GREATEST HIGHS,’ BAND’S FIRST CAREER-SPANNING COLLECTION, ON JANUARY 15, 2008

New Dates Added to Kottonmouth Kings “Cloud 9 Tour”

Hollywood, California – California’s reigning rip-hop originators, Kottonmouth Kings, have partnered with Capitol/EMI for their first-ever career-spanning collection, Greatest Highs. To be released in a 2-CD package and digitally on January 15, 2008, the 39-track set stashes the band’s most smokin’ joints, including singles, album cuts and collaborative tracks from the vaults of Capitol Records and the Kings’ own Suburban Noize Records. In addition to standout hits including “Bump,” “Positive Vibes” and “Suburban Life,” the collection also exclusively features two previously unreleased tracks and a package essay by the group’s founder and emcee/producer, Brad “Daddy” X.

From their 1998 hit single, “Suburban Life,” to cuts from the band’s latest album, Cloud 9, released in August, Greatest Highs spans the Kottonmouth Kings’ career in one sweeping collection. Tracks from all nine of the Kings’ studio albums are featured, including collaborations with Insane Clown Posse, Tech 9 and Cypress Hill, as well as two previously unreleased songs, “Can Anybody Hear Me” and “No Future.”

“We are so consumed by living in the moment and pushing limits that we hardly have time to reflect on this sick adventure we have been on,” says Brad “Daddy” X in his Greatest Highs package essay. “To this day it amazes me what a profound impact the Kings have on people! Maybe it is the brutal honesty or the realness of the band that connects with people. I can’t explain it.”

With 12 years of touring and recording under their belts and more than one million records and concert tickets sold, Kottonmouth Kings manage an established and thriving underground operation that encompasses the band’s own record and merchandise company, Suburban Noize, a self-published fanzine and direct CD, DVD and merchandise sales to their fans around the world.
Kottonmouth Kings have long been a cornerstone of one of today’s most radical music movements in America and beyond. Combining mind-bending sonics, and fusing hip-hop, punk rock, and classic soul, The Kings have innovated and pioneered a unique signature sound that has set them apart from the pack and has fueled the band’s longevity and enduring popularity with a diverse international fan base.

“We have an open-minded, loyal fan base,” said Brad “Daddy” X, who founded the group in 1994. “There are all types of people at a Kottonmouth Kings show – hippies, punkers and hip-hoppers. That’s what’s great about it. You can’t really stereotype it. They’re free-thinking individuals.”

Since leading the charge on the front lines of Southern California’s post-punk and gangsta rap-inspired scene, Kottonmouth Kings have proved their lasting staying power, building on a powerful DIY ethos and redefining the meaning of a self-empowered group. They are an institution in the sub-culture of America, running their own company, touring and releasing albums on their own terms.
