UK’s Biggest Selling Breakthrough Band To Make Their US Debut At CMJ! October 22nd & 23rd!
The hugely successful Scouting For Girls will be making their US debut at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon! The band quickly became Britain’s favorite new indie-pop band with their first single, “She’s So Lovely”, which spent a remarkable six weeks in the UK Top 10, peaking at number 7. The debut album, ‘Scouting For Girls’ went straight in at number 12 on week of release (September 2007), and has since made the band a much cherished, household name in the UK. It has spent 56 weeks on the UK chart, and has to date sold close to 700,000 copies. It has already reached double platinum status in the UK, platinum in Ireland and, by Christmas of this year, should surpass triple platinum in the UK! The second single, “Elvis Ain’t Dead”, is a long-standing live favorite and a song that celebrates Scouting For Girls at their most charming. A devilish combination of sublime piano hooks and wanton melody combines with Roy Stride’s lament to unrequited love, with an ever-engaging nostalgic twist. Continued success came with the follow up singles, ‘Heartbeat’ and ’It’s Not About You’ and they are set to release the 5th single from the album, ‘I Wish I Was James Bond’, which is out this November in the UK.
The band were Sony’s No. 1 highest selling UK act this year, with the 4th biggest selling UK album, reaching No.1 in airplay charts twice in the UK, had the No. 1 album two weeks running, largest UK ticket sales for a live debut, and consequently are selling out (in advance) arena-sized venues across the UK and Ireland this winter!
