MYSPACE PRESENTS SEMINAL UK BAND SPIRITUALIZED IN RARE CLUB PERFORMANCE IN LOS ANGELES ON SEPTEMBER 19

MySpace announces that one of the most critically acclaimed bands Spiritualized (http://www.myspace.com/spiritualized) will be playing a club show at The Echo in Los Angeles on September 19 as part of MySpace’s Secret Show series. Two days prior the band will be playing the massive Hollywood Bowl, and The Echo is by far the most intimate show the band is playing this year. The Secret Show is a free, exclusive performance for the MySpace community.

Spiritualized released their long awaited sixth album, Songs in A & E this past Spring. Serious illness struck Spiritualized frontman and songwriter Jason Pierce – aka J. Spaceman in 2005, and his time spent in intensive care interrupted the completion of the recording, but inevitably perhaps, the setback turned into an inspiration as critics and fans alike have recognized the album not only to be one of the band’s best work, but its most personal too. Pitchfork said of the new album that it was “Spiritualized’s best work in ten years.” Pierce recently wrote and recorded the soundtrack to the new film, Mr. Lonely, directed by Harmony Korine (Julian Donkey-Boy and Gummo).

Spirtualized is recognized as one of the most original bands in the world. The band’s 1997 album “Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space” was bestowed “Album Of The Year” honors by NME in 1997, beating out Radiohead’s “Ok Computer” and The Verve’s “Urban Hymns.”

MySpace Music has organized more than 150 Secret Shows since the franchise launched in February 2006 with artists like Gnarls Barkley, The Offspring, Neil Diamond, Slayer, Fran Ferdinand, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performing in cities around the world. For more information about the artists and upcoming schedule, visit the official MySpace Secret Shows profile at http://www.myspace.com/secretshows

In all, the festival composted or recycled over 9 tons of waste! Hosting a festival at such a beautiful site as Treasure Island makes it even more important to minimize our carbon footprint. This year, the Festival plan to take the next step, aiming for an even higher waste diversion rate and further reducing their carbon footprint by provide zero-emission buses to transport concert go-ers from AT&T Park to Treasure Island, using biodiesel generators and giving ticket purchasers with have the opportunity to add $1 to ?Green? their ticket and help offset the Treasure Island Music Festival?s carbon dioxide emissions.

Today, imeem, the leading social media network, launched Mutiny and Mayhem, a nationwide search for two talented acts to perform at the second annual Treasure Island Music Festival. imeem’s Mutiny and Mayhem contest will select a band to open the Tunnel Stage each day of the festival, which takes place on September 20th and 21st in San Francisco. The act selected for Saturday’s opening slot will join an impressive bill of electronic, dance and hip hop acts that includes Justice, TV on the Radio, Goldfrapp, Hot Chip, Aesop Rock, Amon Tobin and Foals, among others. The act selected to play Sunday’s opening slot will kick off a stellar lineup of indie rock artists that includes The Raconteurs, Tegan & Sara, Vampire Weekend, Spiritualized, John Vanderslice, and more.

Individual artists and bands who are interested in performing at the Treasure Island festival can enter the contest by submitting their original performances via the festival?s official imeem page: www.imeem.com/treasureislandfestival. Following the July 28th submission deadline, a panel of judges representing imeem, Another Planet Entertainment, Noise Pop, and San Francisco music venue The Independent will select 10 finalists for each day of the festival. imeem users will then have the chance to vote for their favorite artists among the finalists through August 17th. The two Mutiny and Mayhem winners will be announced on Monday, August 18th.

?We?re happy that imeem and our community will be a part of Treasure Island again this year,? said Matt Graves, vice president of marketing for imeem. ?The Noise Pop and Another Planet teams put together one of the coolest festival experiences out there, and we?re excited to join them in giving emerging artists the chance to rock onstage with this year?s lineup.?

The Mutiny and Mayhem competition is open to both signed and unsigned artists. Acts must be registered with imeem to enter and must submit performances for consideration via the official Treasure Island Music Festival imeem page: www.imeem.com/treasureislandfestival. The page includes a full list of official rules governing the Mutiny and Mayhem competition.

Treasure Island Music Festival is organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation?s longest-running music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, a nationally established independent concert promoter based in Berkeley, California.
?Treasure Island Music Festival strives to provide opportunities for up-and-coming artists,? says Jordan Kurland, co-producer of both Treasure Island Music Festival and Noise Pop Music Festival, ?Our partnership with imeem is constructed with the same goal in mind: to give a band exposure to a larger audience than they normally play in front of and ultimately, help to grow their fan base. imeem is the perfect match for us in that they are based in our home town and are just as passionate about music as we are.”

Artists performing on Saturday during the Treasure Island festival include Justice, TV on the Radio, Goldfrapp, Hot Chip, CSS, Antibalas, Aesop Rock, Amon Tobin, Foals, Mike Relm, Nortec Collective: Bostich and Fussible, Loquat, and Chester French.

People Noise continues seemingly endless six-month U.S. tour supporting debut album Ordinary Ghosts, Louisville, KY band features ex-VHS or Beta guitarist Zeke Buck.

Louisville, KY quintet People Noise is on a mission. Just like in the days before the Interwebs when the only way for a band to build a fan base was consistent touring, the band led by former VHS or Beta guitarist Zeke Buck set out on a seemingly endless tour last April with dates stretching into late September this year. …And the tour itinerary keeps stretching onward.

“There’s so much lost time to cover,” says Buck in a recent interview with The Louisville Eccentric Observer’s Mat Herron. “Basically, I’m trying to start anew.” After a successful 10 year run in VHS or Beta – which included a national arena tour with Duran Duran – Buck now devotes his time and talent to People Noise, the band he started with good friend and ex-Boom Bip member Matt Johnson. With Johnson on drums and Buck on, well, everything else, these Louisville natives have produced an epic, drone-laced rock album reminiscent of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Spiritualized and Interpol.

Although we never heard him sing a lick during his years in VHS or Beta, Buck’s resume would lead us to ask the question, “why the hell not?” From the ripe age of only four years old he was belting out opera all over the country until the inevitable struck: puberty. Unfortunately for him, it struck in the middle of a performance. It wasn’t until only recently that Buck began to sing again. For a number of months he studied under Turley Richards, a blind Louisville musician with a vocal range that would impress Whitney Houston, and eventually regained the confidence that was lost long ago. On People Noise’s debut album Ordinary Ghosts, Buck sings about everything from reincarnation to thoughts on his former band.

Johnson, a guitarist turned drummer with an experimental electronic music background, boasts quite a resume himself. During his time in Boom Bip, he toured extensively across Europe and has shared the stage with notable acts like LCD Soundsystem, Yo La Tengo, Pinback and Matt Pond PA. Johnson has also performed at London BBC Peel Sessions, Centre Pompideu, Royal Festival Hall and The Renne Music Festival in Renne, France. Not to mention he studied the djembe under Yaya Diallo for a number of years. Quite an accomplishment for a guy who wrote and performed all of the drum parts on Ordinary Ghosts on a rural Kentucky farm with no internet and no cell phone service!

For its live shows, Johnson and Buck are joined by Rahman McGuinnis on guitar, Woody Woodmansee on keyboards, and Sam Marino on bass. People Noise’s debut album Ordinary Ghosts album hit stores on June 12th. And, considering its crazy tour schedule, the band might be available to deliver its album straight to your door.
