30 SECONDS TO MARS SIGN NEW WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH EMI MUSIC’S VIRGIN RECORDS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED THIRD ALBUM, PRODUCED BY FLOOD, DUE THIS FALL NEW ALBUM IS THE FOLLOW-UP TO MULTI-PLATINUM SMASH A BEAUTIFUL LIE

EMI Music’s Virgin Records is pleased to announce that it has signed a new worldwide deal with Los Angeles rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.

30 Seconds to Mars, fronted by vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Jared Leto, is currently in the studio in Los Angeles recording their third album with acclaimed producer Flood, known for his work with U2, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and Smashing Pumpkins. Due this fall, the as-yet-untitled album is the follow-up to 2005’s platinum-selling A Beautiful Life, which sold more than three million albums and singles worldwide and spawned two Top 10 Modern Rock singles, “From Yesterday” and “The Kill.” The latter set a radio record for the longest-running hit in the history of Modern Rock radio play when it remained on the national airplay chart for more than 50 weeks following its No. 3 peak in 2006. “From Yesterday” was the band’s first No. 1 at the format. Its epic video was the first American music video ever shot in the People’s Republic of China.

30 Seconds to Mars’ new album is a collection of the thoughts and ideas that the band (which also includes drummer Shannon Leto and guitarist Tomo Mili?evi?) have experienced after spending several years on the road. The songs reflect a willingness to take chances and create a pivotal, game-changing album. As Flood recently told Billboard.com: “These guys wanted to move into a different place and that’s always a big challenge. They had established themselves very firmly in one arena when Jared first talked to me. It was about trying to make a ‘classic album,’ and that’s by pushing themselves and me to a place that you may not have expected to go, so it requires truth, honesty, and a lot of hard work. Those sorts of things I find very rewarding.”

“It’s great to finally move forward and focus on what’s most important to us all— the music,” says Jared Leto. “We are excited about starting over with the many talented people at Virgin/EMI, and to sharing our new music with the fans in the very near future. We will never forget the unrelenting support from all our friends, family, and fans around the world.”

“We are thrilled to have set aside our differences and signed a new agreement with 30 Seconds to Mars,” says Nick Gatfield, EMI Music’s President of A&R Labels – North America & the UK. “Our relationship has been extremely rewarding and successful, and we’re eager to move forward and put our global team to work on the brilliant new album they are recording with Flood.”

“I am excited to be a part of 30 Seconds to Mars’ next chapter,” says Rob Stevenson, President of Virgin A&R Labels. “Not only are they one of the most important bands in rock music today, but I admire their commitment to the online world. It has made them digital pioneers in terms of reaching fans where they live and breathe music.”

Formed by Jared and Shannon Leto in 1998, 30 Seconds to Mars have won numerous awards and accolades, including an MTV Video Music Award, three MTV EMA, an MTV Latin and Asia Award, a Fuse Award, and three Kerrang! awards. They have nearly 500 live performances under their belts since the release of A Beautiful Life, which has earned them a growing, loyal, global fan base. The band is also known as one of the world’s most progressive online. Their fans — dubbed The Echelon — participate in both band and charity-driven activities. Thirty Seconds to Mars now boast more than 28 million plays on MySpace, more than one million fans on iLike/Facebook and have received more than 100 million views on YouTube.

THE FIELD AND THE JUAN MACLEAN CO-HEADLINE DFA + KOMPAKT TOUR THE FIELD TO RELEASE ‘YESTERDAY AND TODAY’ ON MAY 19TH

The Field will be embarking on a co-headlining North American tour with The Juan MacLean beginning next month. Shows will feature percussionist Dan Enqvist and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Söderstrom in addition to Axel Willner (aka The Field) and follows the May 19th release of his new album, Yesterday and Today, on Anti- Records. The new live arrangement, decided on after Willner grew weary of performing alone and the limitations that come with that, has brought a completely new depth and voracity to the music of The Field’s live performances.

Stockholm’s Axel Willner joined the Cologne based Kompakt family back in 2005 with the release of his 12” debut “Things Keep Falling Down”. His ability to sample the familiar into something new combined with a deep adoration for Kompakt co-owner Wolfgang Voigt’s GAS and M:I:5 electronics sound and the shoe gazer rock of Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine served to inspire a new fusion of ambient and techno. Willner spent November of 2008 alone in Berlin setting up and recording the framework of what would eventually become Yesterday & Today. With demos in hand, he headed back to Stockholm and to a friend’s house in the countryside where they set up a temporary studio and weeks of constant recording ensued. Yesterday & Today is over an hour long with only six songs – a testament to the recording process and the modernized elements of kraut rock that resonate throughout it. With the release of his startling sophomore effort, Yesterday & Today, The Field has now clearly vaulted himself well beyond the laptop, embracing the unique sounds of his past while forging an entirely new sounding Krautrock of the future.

Ask any diabolical mastermind—Dr. Evil, Sideshow Bob, the Monarch—and they’ll tell you, bringing the world to its knees is a lot like hosting a successful dinner party: It requires careful preparation and forethought. A plan. It may take years before all the pieces fall into place. But once they do? Global domination should be easy as pie. Since the turn of the 21st century, DFA club music maestro Juan MacLean has been laying groundwork. First, there were killer singles, from “By The Time I Get to Venus” in 2002, to last year’s international mega hit & critical year-end favorite “Happy House” as well as the “The Simple Life”. There was a debut full-length (Less Than Human, 2005); remixes for colleagues like Air, Chicken Lips, Daft Punk, David Gahan, Matthew Dear; international tours with Cut Copy and Shocking Pinks; and DJ gigs from Telluride to Tel Aviv. Now comes the next stage of the operation, The Future Will Come. While the second full-length from The Juan MacLean may sound effortless in its execution, don’t be deceived. This record was made in accordance with a very careful plan. “Before going into production of the album, before I wrote anything, I had aesthetic and conceptual guidelines in mind,” admits MacLean. “I stuck to those, and they panned out.” The Juan MacLean’s touring band features members of LCD Soundsystem, !!!, and Holy Ghost.

THE FIELD RETURN WITH ‘YESTERDAY & TODAY’ ANTI- AND KOMPAKT RECORDS JOIN FORCES ON TRIUMPHANT RELEASE ALBUM SET FOR MAY 19, 2009 WITH TOUR DATES TO FOLLOW

The Field is Axel Willner, and his last album, Here We Go Sublime, was one of the most acclaimed releases of 2007, receiving a 9.0 on Pitchfork and universal praise. The BBC called it “one of those rare albums that makes you wonder how you ever got by without it.” The album is the soundtrack to the spit-shined airport of your dreams – faceless, futuristic, and fuzzy. You could dance to it, sleep to it, or daydream to it: just a versatile little album.

Now, Willner’s label, Kompakt, has teamed with ANTI- to release his anticipated follow-up, Yesterday & Today. On the new album, Willner expands his palette, continuing the oblique sampling strategy of From Here We Go Sublime while building up the rhythmic architecture; on the title track, Willner collaborates for the first time with Battles drummer John Stanier.

Since startling the world with From Here We Go Sublime, Willner has been much in demand as a remixer, with tracks from Thom Yorke to Battles to Maps raising his profile, so that now legions are gathered, in that spit-shined terminal, waiting for their blissed-out departure.

The Field will launch a national tour of the US and Canada in May/June. Dates are forthcoming.

The Field have toured non-stop around the world, with !!!, LCD Soundsystem, and others.

Track Listing

I Have The Moon, You Have The Internet – 8:02
Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime – 6:51
Leave It – 11:37
Yesterday & Today (feat. John Stanier) – 10:08
The More That I Do – 8:36
Sequenced – 15:40
