Georgia-based Christian-rock band Showbread have a new album, The Fear of God, coming out next Tuesday, August 12th on Tooth & Nail Records. If you are unfamiliar with anything Showbread, now may be the time to accustom yourself to their self-branded “raw-rock” style. Amid eclectic synthesized melodies, distorted guitars, and a mix of scream and clean vocals, Showbread prospers the most in their broad storyline-driven lyrics. Writing of religion, death, and zombies alike, Showbread never fails to deliver a unique take on their perception of the world.

They currently have three new tracks off of the album up on their myspace: “Nothing Matters Anymore”, “Vehement”, and “Lost Connection With the Head”.

In support of the new album, Showbread will embark on a nationwide tour beginning August 13th with Goodnight Caulfield and the Gallery. Keep checking back on their myspace for additional dates.

YELLOWCARD TO RELEASE DIGITAL LIVE ALBUM — LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS AT THE PALMS — EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH ITUNES ON JANUARY 22ND, 2008

Fans Who Purchase Live Album In Its First Week Of Release Will Gain Access To Pre-Sale Tickets For Platinum-Selling Rockers’ Six Week Spring Headlining Tour, Which Begins March 7th

Yellowcard’s Third Album, Paper Walls, Out Now

(January 15th, 2008 — New York, NY) — Breakout alt-rockers Yellowcard will release a digital live album, entitled Live From Las Vegas At the Palms, exclusively though the iTunes Store beginning January 22nd, 2008. Recorded in October at Las Vegas’ renowned Palms Casino Resort’s intimate Pearl Concert Theater, where the farthest seating is just 120 feet from the stage, the album captures the Jacksonville, FL, quartet’s fiery blend of rock, punk, and classical at its most explosive best.

“We were honored to record Live From Las Vegas At the Palms for iTunes and we’re really proud of the record,” said frontman Ryan Key.

Live From Las Vegas features five tracks from Yellowcard’s current album Paper Walls (which debuted at Number 13 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, as well as at Number 3 on iTunes’ album chart), including the lead-off single “Light Up the Sky.” The live album also features Yellowcard’s previous singles “Way Away,” “Ocean Avenue,” and “Only One,” from the band’s double-platinum 2003 Capitol Records’ debut Ocean Avenue, as well as “Lights and Sounds” and “Rough Landing, Holly,” from their 2006 gold album Lights and Sounds.

Yellowcard, which is vocalist/guitarist Ryan Key, violinist/vocalist Sean Mackin, guitarist Ryan Mendez, and drummer Longineu “LP” Parsons III, have been on the road since the July release of Paper Walls, including a summer stint on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour, a winter tour supporting Linkin Park in Japan and recently played for U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf as part of a USO (United Service Organizations) entertainment tour. On March 7th they will launch a headlining tour of the U.S. with support from MxPx, Play Radio Play, and Treaty of Paris. Yellowcard will perform an acoustic set with the other bands performing plugged-in.

Anyone who purchases Live From Las Vegas at the Palms in its first week of release (from January 22nd to January 28th) will also receive a code for Ticketmaster enabling the purchase of up to four tickets for the tour on January 30th before they go on sale to the public on February 2nd.

If you’ve been wondering where all the drunk punk kids have been hanging out, then go check out a Black Lips show, and you’ll find them throwing beer at each other, stage diving, crowd surfing, and putting the kind of spark back into live music that so recently seems to have been replaced by ubiquitous head-nodding hipsters. The Black Lips exude a raunchy energy onstage that is shared by very few bands out there today. They play a fast, propulsive set that does not relent in the slightest-despite their crazy stage antics, they are a tight band, and execute their music in a way that is completely inundated by their bawdry signature style, with wild, young fury and reckless energy. With spit and sweat flying, random onstage kissing sessions between members, summersaults, and beer chugging all the while ensuing, the Black Lips prove that this brand of dynamism still exists in rock ‘n’ roll. Now let’s just hope they never grow up. – CRAWDADDY

JAMES BLUNT UNVEILS THE 2008 LOST SOULS TOUR

PRESENTED BY VH1 “YOU OUGHTA KNOW” AND FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST “YOU OUGHTA KNOW” ARTIST SARA BAREILLES

GLOBE-SPANNING ITINERARY HITS NORTH AMERICA IN FEBRUARY

TICKET PRESALE BEGINS WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH, WITH PUBLIC ON SALE SET FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH

Custard/Atlantic recording artist James Blunt has announced details of his upcoming North American tour, part of his extensive “2008 LOST SOULS TOUR.” The highly anticipated headlining tour celebrates the release of Blunt’s new album, “ALL THE LOST SOULS.” Presented by VH1 “You Oughta Know”, the tour kicks off in February ‘08 and will feature special guest Sara Bareilles.

“I am really pleased to be returning to the U.S. on my 2008 world tour,” said Blunt. “We’ve had some of our most memorable shows in America on past tours, and I am so excited to be playing out some of the material from my new album, ‘ALL THE LOST SOULS,’ for my U.S. fans.”
The month-long LOST SOULS tour is set to kick off on February 4, 2008 at Seattle’s Moore Theatre. From there, the British superstar will play a series of major dates across North America, culminating on March 4th at Atlanta’s The Tabernacle (see attached itinerary). Pre-sale tickets will be available via Blunt’s official fan site www.jamesblunt.com tomorrow, November 14th, with remaining tickets going on sale to the public on Saturday, November 17th.

As with 2006’s hugely successful “Back To Bedlam World Tour,” Blunt will once again use the tour as an opportunity to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the international medical humanitarian organization whose life-saving work he first encountered while stationed with the British army in Kosovo, where he served as a reconnaissance officer with the NATO peacekeeping force. A personal, one-on-one aftershow meet-and-greet with James will be auctioned after each and every show, to both increase awareness and generate much-needed monies for DWB/MSF.

What’s more, Blunt is being joined on tour in his native UK and in Europe by Friends of the Earth, the influential grassroots network that has for decades been at the forefront of high-profile efforts to create a more healthy, just world. Friends of the Earth’s role on the road has been to assist James in increasing awareness of global climate change, while also putting pressure on the world’s governments to begin acting on the issue.
James recently filmed the companion video for his new single, “Same Mistake,” with famed director Jonas Akerlund (Madonna, The Prodigy, Maroon 5). The video, which is garnering much attention for its thematic elements, premiered this past weekend on VH1’s Top 20 countdown. The video can be viewed via the following link: http://vsyndication.wmg.com/tip.html?bcpid=824272798&bctid=1289940352.

Blunt is currently slated to appear on a number of high-profile TV programs in the coming weeks. The appearances begin on November 18th when he is a presenter at the 35th annual American Music Awards. He will then perform “Same Mistake” on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 20th followed on November 23rd by a morning performance on Live with Regis and Kelly. On December 11th James will appear on The View, and then on CBS’ annual seasonal celebration, A Home For The Holidays, scheduled for broadcast on December 21st. The performances follow Blunt’s recent string of major television appearances heralding the release of “ALL THE LOST SOULS,” including the Today show, Ellen DeGeneres, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, as well as Nightline and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“ALL THE LOST SOULS” was recorded and mixed in Los Angeles with producer Tom Rothrock, who also oversaw Blunt’s history-making debut, “BACK TO BEDLAM.” The collection features several songs that became road-tested favorites in the course of Blunt’s marathon touring during 2006 – including “1973,” “I Really Want You,” “Same Mistake,” and “Annie.” The album has also drawn expansive critical praise. “He shows the abandon and confidence of a long-term artist,” raved Billboard. “Sounding like John Mayer channeling Jeff Buckley in the middle of Abbey Road, each of Blunt’s songs are infused with love, loss and confusion, but are rendered so elegantly that it sounds like he’s got everything figured out…There’s not a misstep throughout.”

Clipd Beaks …encapsulates all the complex emotions and paranoia that comes with being young in 2007.” Band presents its intense live show throughout the USA in anticipation of new album release.

“Experiencing ‘Black Glass’ (MP3) — or any track on Hoarse Lords, really—without being half in the liquor-store bag and surrounded by others in the same or worse condition is a disservice to Clipd Beaks’ groove spew.” – Paper Thin Walls

“Clipd Beaks are profoundly intense live. They have the power to elicit something very rare in an audience,” says the band’s label head Mookie Singerman of Lovepump United (HEALTH, Genghis Tron) when asked what sold him on signing the band and releasing it’s new album Hoarse Lords. The album is out on November 13th and Clipd Beaks is currently touring across America. See below for dates.

“I happened to hear Clipd Beaks rather randomly on MySpace and I was immediately taken by how simultaneously lush and noisy they were,” Singerman says. “I couldn’t help but think of the first time I had heard Sonic Youth or My Bloody Valentine. The songwriting seemed so mature and they had such a good grasp on their own unique sound — this is of course having very much to do with the fact that they’ve been playing music with each other since they were kids.”

“We (Singerman and business partner Jake Friedman) went to South By Southwest incredibly excited to see this band. And then they played. And it was fucking mind blowing — the dark, swirling, alienated feel of their live set encapsulates all the complex emotions and paranoia that comes with being young in 2007.”

And what does Clipd Beaks have to say for itself? When guitarist Greg Pritchard describes the band’s sound as “the anxiety of five boys growing into men in the strange last days of American Empire,” he’s not kidding. The men of Clipd Beaks met as boys — bassist Scott Ecklein and drummer Ray Benjamin at the age of seven — and have made music together ever since.

It’s no wonder that in an interview with The Fader recently, Pritchard described the recording of Hoarse Lords as a situation that only true brothers could muster: “It’s all totally written on the spot as the four of us together. I don’t really play music except when I’m with everybody else. This is what we do when we hang out as friends. We’re going to get a case of beer and play some music.”

Experience the band that the LA Weekly calls the “supermax-tight monolith monsters of psychedelia” and which XLR8R says “…makes you feel grateful just for being alive.” Clipd Beaks is on tour now

Saint Bernadette to play CMJ gig at NYC’s Highline Ballroom this weekend. Band premiers the mysterious video for “Sidestep” from its debut album In The Ballroom — recorded live in Bridgeport’s abandoned Bijou Theatre.

Two additional EPs (including one of obscure duets by Morrissey & Siouxsie Sioux among others) set for release in 2008.

“The debut album from Connecticut’s Saint Bernadette hits the sort of notes and touches that make me weak in the knees, by expertly melding things I’m a sucker for: ballsy broads, smoke-filled jazz clubs, and, of course, the element of surprise.” — Sentimentalist Magazine

“The music on In The Ballroom, is seductive, eclectic, sophisticated and a natural fit for DiMenna’s superlative voice.” — Stamford Advocate

Saint Bernadette is celebrating the recent release of its debut album In The Ballroom by playing the CMJ Music Marathon this weekend at Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom on Saturday, October 20th. Filter Magazine will present the show and Saint Bernadette will serve as opening act to the Grammy award winning leader of Dirty Vegas, Steve Smith, who will be debuting songs from his upcoming solo debut. Saint Bernadette takes the stage at 12:30AM. The first video from In The Ballroom is now ready for consumption as well. The clip for “Sidestep” is a mysterious ride with a hot car through some murky and ominous fog.

In The Ballroom has already received much praise from the press — not only for the gorgeous pipes of singer Meredith DiMenna, but also for the unique sound of the record which was recorded live in the abandoned ballroom of Bridgeport, Connecticut’s Bijou Theatre (pictured on the album’s cover) in a marathon three-day recording session.

DiMenna, a professional vocalist by day — she is well-known as the voice of MTV’s “Chunky Pam” — gets to show off her personal side with Saint Bernadette, making beautiful, loungey music that harkens back to Motown or early Atlantic releases. To make In The Ballroom, DiMenna, and her husband, guitarist Keith “Touch” Saunders, put together the lineup that would appear on the record and went north to a small cabin in Vermont to learn and arrange the songs. Inspired and invigorated by the results, they began the search for the perfect recording location.

“We knew we wanted to record it live. Because of the instrumentation, the dynamics depend on a real-time push and pull between the different elements and we felt we couldn’t achieve that in an overdubbing situation,” says Saunders. “We really wanted the record to reflect the energy of a live show.”

Recent transplants to Bridgeport, DiMenna and Saunders found that a local redevelopment project, the historic Bijou Theatre, was hiding a large and beautiful ballroom circa 1908 on the second floor. The developers gave the band permission to use the space for five days – one each to load in, load out and three to record. The album was recorded completely live – with everyone in the same room at the same time. It was nearly non-stop recording, except on breaks to go to the bar next door and keep tabs on the World Cup. When recording was finished, the band took the record to Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Mates of State, Tokyo Police Club) of Bridgeport-based Tarquin Studio.

“Not only is he in Bridgeport, which was important to us – we really wanted it to be a hometown effort – but he’s also really talented. Working with him in his studio was a great experience,” says DiMenna. Saunders adds, “We had to wait a few months for him because he was busy working on The National, which was so hard since we were so excited about the recording, but it was well worth the wait.”

In The Ballroom will be followed up by a pair of EPs in 2008. One, a new Saint Bernadette collection entitled I Wanna Tell You Something and another, a six-song collaboration with singer-songwriter Brian Grosz, a label mate of DiMenna’s. Interestingly, the second EP is a planned covers collection of some famous and not-so-famous duets from the past and present featuring tunes originally sung by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits & Crystal Gail, Morrissey & Siouxsie Sioux, Tricky & PJ Harvey, and Elvis & Ann Margaret.

Lastly, famed hip hop producers, Black Panther and Shaad Almighty have decided to put their own take on In The Ballroom and are working on remixes of the album tracks “Lay Me Down” and “Money In The Air”. More information on the remixes will be announced in the near future.

Additionally, Manchester Orchestra will also perform on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” October 31st, in support of their critically acclaimed debut album I’M LIKE A VIRGIN LOSING A CHILD. Director Sam Erickson offers fans an intimate look into the personalities of Manchester Orchestra and more specifically, the mind of principle songwriter / lyricist Andy Hull, in his new documentary, WHAT’S LEFT BEHIND. Filmed and directed by Sam Erickson (My Morning Jacket’s “Okonokos” and Dave Matthews “Live at Radio City”), WHAT’S LEFT BEHIND, like the band’s album, explores themes of religion and death, but also highlights the close bond forged between band members and emphasizes the importance of family and friends. WHAT’S LEFT BEHIND follows the band for one week through Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas while on tour, and plans for release of the film are still being determined.

Since the release of I’M LIKE A VIRGIN LOSING A CHILD, the band have appeared on the “Late Show With David Letterman,” and have performed at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Austin City Limits, Reading and Leads Festival. The band is currently on a North American tour with the Kings of Leon & BRMC and will spend December in the UK on a Kings of Leon arena tour.

In addition to Rolling Stone, Spin, MTV News, Paste, Alternative Press and many others, The New York Times recently raved I’M LIKE A VIRGIN LOSING A CHILD “is one of this year’s best … in it you can hear the influence of R.E.M. and a generation of indie rockers … there’s something pleasantly inscrutable about Mr. Hull, whether he’s delivering a spiteful rant or serenading someone … This is a fundamentally immodest album: music to swoon to.” At the conclusion of the band’s performance on the “Late Show With David Letterman,” Letterman himself exclaimed, “That’s exactly what we’re looking for!”
