CONTROL 12″ IN STORES NOW, SINGLE AVAILABLE ON iTUNES AND BEATPORT
“PRO NAILS” FEAT. KANYE WEST OUT NOW ON THE CAN’T TELL ME NOTHING MIXTAPE
Chicago native, recent URB “Next 1000″ cover artist, and all-around stunning rapper Kid Sister has returned from a sweltering Coachella performance to release her debut 12″ on Fool’s Gold Records. The single features 2 new original songs, “Control” (produced by XXXChange of Spank Rock), and “Damn Girl” (produced by A-Trak). Also featured on this release is an exclusive remix of “Damn Girl” by Chicago juke originator DJ Gant-Man. Tracks from the single are currently getting spins from DJ Nephets on Power 92 in Chicago and Cipha Sounds on Hot 97 in New York, an indication that rap radio is feeling Kid Sister just as much as the indie club set! The inaugural release for A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs’ brand new label Fool’s Gold, Control sets the tone for a promising future - releases from Cool Kids, Kavinsky, and of course Kid Sister’s debut LP are all slated to come this year.
To top it all off, Kanye West just released his Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape over the weekend. Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails” received a remix verse and prominent shout out from the man himself (”This is my shit!” - Kanye), so be sure to check it out. Non-single remixes are also on the way from Cadence Weapon (”Damn Girl”), Stretch Armstrong (”Control”) and Sammy Bananas.

ON KID SISTER:
Kid Sister is Chicago. She makes club rap and works at a children’s clothing store slanging bibs and teething rings until her imminent blow up takes place. Yes, her DJ (J2K of Flosstradamus) is her real brother, and yes that does rule. Together they took the Chicago music scene by storm rocking parties and causing all around dancefloor mayhem. This has been followed by international tours with Kanye West’s DJ A-Trak (now her producer). 2006 found Kid Sister rocking various shows from Chicago to Paris, including an appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival & a sold out show at this year’s SXSW. Media has been taking much notice as of late, with features on MTV (”My Block”), Pitchfork, i-D Magazine, XLR8R, and the cover of URB’s “Next 1000″ issue, among others. With her full length debut on the way in 2007 featuring A-Trak, XXXChange of Spank Rock, and others on production duties, Kid Sister is a definite artist to watch in 2007.
ON FOOL’S GOLD:
Founded by DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, the imprint is the natural extension of many months the two have spent sharing new music and brainstorming on various creative projects.
“This DJ scene that we’re a part of in North America has influenced music scenes across the world, but ironically there aren’t enough labels that represent it,” says A-Trak. “That’s where Fool’s Gold comes in. A label where we can release GLC and Kid Sister side-to-side without it being a stretch–and what’s great with Fool’s Gold is that it’s not forced, since we’re all just friends putting out each other’s music.”
“To me, Fool’s Gold is the modern version of what labels like Sleeping Bag and Nervous were doing back in the 80s and early 90s,” says Nick Catchdubs. “They would put out house records and freestyle records at the same time as Black Moon or some experimental Arthur Russell shit, and it all made sense. I want Fool’s Gold to represent the absolute best in club music on all levels.”
Helping tie everything together is Brooklyn graphic artist Dust La Rock, whose original imagery for all Fool’s Gold logos and sleeve art provides a clever and constantly evolving visual aesthetic for the label.
