Obese Records is excited to announce the forthcoming 12″ and full length album from Chasm, a producer set to shake the foundations of Australian Hip Hop.
‘Beyond The Beat Tape’ features guest vocalists and DJs from among Australia’s Hip Hop elite. Opening the 12″, ‘Don’t Let Your Guard Down’ is an aural onslaught of tough beats and funky horns, where Sydney’s Dialectrix shines alongside first class cuts from DJ 2bucks. Fellow Astronomy Class member Sir Robbo co-produces ‘The Niceness’, showcasing the sultry vocals of Melbourne’s Vida Sunshyne, coupled here with Sydney Hip-Hop legend Ozi Batla (The Herd).
Exclusive to the 12″, ‘Forest Of The Dead’ features the inimitable flow of Illzilla’s Mantra over a hard-hitting trademark Chasm groove. Also limited to this release is a unique re-interpretation and remix of the Hilltop Hoods classic ‘City Of Light’, driven by skanking guitar and certain to become a collectors item.
The sheer weight of groove on this 12″ is sure to wet the appetite for Chasm’s full length debut, ‘Beyond The Beat Tape’, due for release on Obese Records in February 2008.
