Blitz the Ambassador to Perform at 3rd Annual Roots Holiday Jam Releases Video from Behind-the-Scenes of MTVu House Band w/ John Forte
OkayPlayer has announced Blitz the Ambassador as the special guest at this year’s 3rd Annual Roots Holiday Jam on Tuesday, December 15th at 10pm. For the past two years, The Roots Holiday Jam has been the live musical event of the season, boasting performances by Q-Tip, Mos Def, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Bilal and Tanya Morgan and, of course, The Roots themselves. This year, with their finger on the pulse of popular culture, as it always is, OkayPlayer has selected Blitz the Ambassador and his live band, The Embassy Ensemble, as the special guest to share the stage with ?uestlove and the Legendary Roots Crew.
The Roots Holiday Jam
December has been a busy month for Blitz, as he recently completed a recording session for MTVu’s House Band that featured John Forte, among other special guests. The recordings took place at Royal Blue Studios in Brooklyn, a completely analog facility run by platinum engineer/producer Robert Honablue (Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & the Family Stone, Leonard Bernstein, Aretha Franklin).
The MTVu House Bands live sessions produced 5 songs that Blitz will release as an EP in early 2010. The songs are mostly live, remixed versions of tracks from his critically-lauded debut album, Stereotype [click here to listen/download], but also include an original track, “Kill the Radio” which has been a staple of Blitz and the Embassy Ensemble’s live performance.
