CAGE HITS THE ROAD FOR ‘DEPART FROM ME ROUND 2′ US TOUR ON TOUR WITH LESS THAN JAKE AS WELL AS SOLO HEADLINING DATES

In the wake of the incredible acclaim heaped on Cage’s stunning third album Depart From Me, the Definitive Jux recording artist has answered to the call of fans and critics alike with a flurry of new tour dates. The highly anticipated tour kicks off in Pittsburgh on November 23rd and concludes December 18th in NYC (dates below).

This has been a monumental year for Cage, from being first artist to release an EP through MTV (the free 7 song EP “I Never Knew You”, which garnered 40,000 downloads in its first two weeks on MTV2.com, to hosting MTV2’s Subterranean, to being covered by several high profile media outlets including LA Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, and a 6 page feature in SPIN.

In addition to the many headlining shows on the tour, several shows will feature Cage supporting underground mainstays Less Than Jake. The combination of Cage’s intense live show and Less Than Jake’s anthemic rock will likely stupefy the weak of heart, but is of the highest recommendation to those who thrive on energetic, heartstopping performances.

Check the video for “I Never Knew You” directed by Shia LaBeouf:

Press on Depart From Me:

“Frightfully focused… one of the year’s surprising artistic
breakthroughs.” – SPIN

“This is angsty, downright unsettling hip-hop… (the kind) Eminem can
only dream of making.” – MTV NEWS

SHARAM GETS “WILD” FOR U.S. DJ TOUR THIS NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER Famed DJ and Producer Brings Extended Set to NYC, Miami, Chicago and DC

New York, NY – Known to many as one-half of the now-on-hiatus Grammy® Award-winning duo DEEP DISH, revered electronic music trendsetter SHARAM has been making a bold musical statement this year exploring the Wild West with his debut double disc Get Wild (Ultra Records). Now he’s ready to bring his innovative, eclectic musical creations – which feature superstar collaborations with Kid Cudi and Daniel Bedingfield – to audiences across the United States this fall in his GET WILD TOUR. This is a well-awaited return for SHARAM to many of these markets, which include New York City, Miami, Chicago, and Washington, DC, with more dates to be announced.

For his upcoming extended DJ sets, DC’s own SHARAM will be incorporating material from Get Wild in with his own latest remixes/productions, as well as cutting edge, mind-warping music by other artists. In an exciting twist, the DJ/producer will also “spin” on Pioneer DVJ 1000 players at most shows, allowing him to manipulate customized visuals created especially for songs on Get Wild in synch with each record he drops.
“I’m very excited to man the booth for extended DJ sets on this tour,” SHARAM commented. “I feel like I can express myself better when I play longer sets. I have four hours or more to tell my full story musically speaking, so fasten your seatbelts, this should be a helluva ride.”
Get Wild’s landmark single “She Came Along,” which meshes elements of Patsy Cline’s legendary country song “Strange” with vocals by hip-hop sensation Kid Cudi, has been hailed as one of the year’s most uniquely infectious genre-bending songs by publications like Mixmag and Vibe and by many top producers like Kanye West. Of the masterpiece, Kid Cudi himself said, “This is really, really innovative. I haven’t heard anything like it.”
The Director’s Cut version of the “She Came Along” music video garnered over half million hits in its first week on YouTube, and continues to attract attention from major blogs and portals such as Yahoo! Music, AOL Spinner, and many others.

SHARAM’s debut set also includes “Don’t Say a Word” and “Be The Change” with Anousheh Khalili, long-time Deep Dish collaborator Morel on “I Love The Way (That You’re Breaking My Heart),” the one-and-only Diddy on “PATT,” and “The One” featuring vocals by Daniel Bedingfield, recently heard in an episode of The CW Network’s Melrose Place.
Get Wild is available now on Ultra Records in store and online, wherever music is sold. A new version of the album will be released digitally this December with fresh artwork, new edits of the songs, and the bonus music video “She Came Along (Director’s Cut).” =

RJD2 Reissues His Def Jux Material with Previously Unreleased Tracks In Advance of New 2010 LP

RJD2 fans rejoice. The producer/musician/singer extraordinaire has just released three deluxe reissues of his groundbreaking albums originally released on Definitive Jux Records. 2002’s Deadringer, 2003’s The Horror and 2004’s Since We Last Spoke, lauded as one of Spin Magazine’s Top 40 Albums of the Year, are now all in stores with two previously unreleased bonus tracks per album.

All three reissues are streaming in full at AOL Spinner through the end of the week.

This year has marked a turning point in the innovative producer’s 10 year career. After scoring the theme to the hit AMC show, “Mad Men,” and starting his own label RJ’s Electrical Connections, RJ reissued 2001’s Your Face Or Your Kneecaps as well as a box set entitled RJD2 2002-2010 and announced that his first new LP in three years, The Colossus, will hit stores on January 19th, the same month RJ hits the road for a massive cross country tour.

And as if that’s not enough, he also decided that he’d spend his holiday season giving free gifts to all of his fans! On October 29th, RJ announced via his RJ’s Electrical Connections website that he’d be giving away free records, MP3s, and more each Monday until the release of The Colossus.

SCION A/V AND JESSE ROSE’S MADE TO PLAY LABEL ANNOUNCE NEW SCION CD SAMPLER RELEASE, NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

SCION CD SAMPLER V.27 – A NIGHT AT MADE TO PLAY AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY ON ITUNES AND BEATPORT BEGINNING 12/22/09.

NORTH AMERICAN SCION A/V CD RELEASE TOUR BEGINS DECEMBER 6th – FEATURING JESSE ROSE, IDIOTPROOF, OLIVER $, RIVA STARR, AND ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD

Made to Play, the Berlin based club night and record label helmed by DJ/producer Jesse Rose is one of world’s leading house labels, and 2009 is their biggest year yet. Along with Scion, they have announced their Scion CD Sampler V.27 – A Night at Made to Play release, the latest installment in the series featuring label artists Zombie Disco Squad, Riva Starr, Idiotproof, and Oliver $, not to mention Jesse Rose himself. In addition to the CD sampler, this stable of highly in-demand DJ’s are heading on tour this December for a select run of dates throughout the US.

Continuing to blossom as a label, Made to Play is bringing the noise in 2009 with world tours and huge hits all in abundance. Head honcho Jesse Rose continues to be one of the most in-demand DJ’s on the planet with his massively successful artist album topping various charts, a recent Radio 1 Essential Mix under his belt, and a touring schedule that reads like an encyclopedia of the best clubs in the world

Encapsulating the essence of a Made to Play night, Jesse Rose’s coveted residency at the legendary Berlin club Panorama Bar, Scion CD Sampler V.27 – A Night at Made To Play showcases the skills of its artists and presents a snapshot of the production skills of the Made to Play artists. Each of the two tracks from the artists provides a different feel and reflects a different time of night at a Made to Play event. Like a good book the musical programming of a night needs a beginning, middle and an end and this album has been custom made to make cohesive sense in that way.

In its continual effort to show support for the arts, Scion covers all production, licensing and distribution costs for the A/V projects, and all proceeds go directly back to the label and artists.

Themselves

Seven months after the release of theFREEhoudini – the celebrated mixtape that announced Themselves’ return – Doseone and Jel will drop CrownsDown, a careful and vicious exhibition of mastered rap tactics and sampling ethics. Themselves’ third album proper has been gestating in the gut of this seminal group for some time. It’s both a return to form and a honing of what’s come before (Subtle, cLOUDDEAD, Deep Puddle) – both the opus that these lionhearted two were always meant to make, and the album that their hip-hop-obsessed teenaged selves always hoped to hear.

On CrownsDown, Themselves hold back nothing, welding brute skill to a concrete set of tracks that represents an essential ten commandments of rap. In preparation, Doseone and Jel revisited their beloved hip-hop collections (e.g. Gang Starr, Ultramagnetic MCs, Public Enemy, Saafir) and whittled down the recurring themes that made their favorite records so sturdy. Each song on CrownsDown represents one of these archetypes – you’ll find the “don’t bite” song, the diss track, the story rap, the “bootleggers beware” song, and the “don’t fuck with my DJ” jam, among others. In this way, Themselves revisit something classic in order to invent their own future-school entry to the annals.

Naturally, things kick off with “Back II Burn,” a “guess who’s back” track (co-written by Pedestrian) that bangs forth on good ol’ fashioned synth hits and heavy thump. Rugged slow rhymes and fast-rap pile-ons are delivered with equal aplomb, and Jel ramps up the distortion as Dose spits vitriol: “Whether shining or shunned, none and all can come/and get undone by the two in the selves one.” “Oversleeping” follows with a Bomb Squad-style sampler salvo and a whirlwind of rhyme that reference-checks lyrics from both Nas and Subtle. Next up is “The Mark,” wherein Dose cautions would-be style thieves, while borrowing his own cadence from Ultramag-era Kool Keith. Jel deals out break-driven electro bounce and a furious, unprecedented rap verse of his own, while D-Styles mans the cuts.

“Gangster Of Disbelief” finds Dose dropping science (the fourth archetype) in a rich baritone atop eerie production that harks back to his and Jel’s debut. He connects the dots from Sisyphus to Werner Herzog’s writings to his own neuroses and worldview, while “Daxstrong” takes on the spread-love model, paying proper tribute to Subtle founder Dax Pierson, left paraplegic after the sextet’s 2005 tour accident. Bandmates Jordan Dalrymple and Markus Acher (13 & God, The Notwist) join Dose for an end-song sing-along of TVOTR magnitude. The next two tracks respectively take well-aimed shots at false musical prophets and modern-day bootleggers (MP3-traders). “You Ain’t It” features an Auto-tuned guest spot from Dax himself, playing the melodic foil to Dose’s jagged and rapid fire words, while “Roman Is As Roman Does” serves up electronics-damaged boom-bap for a set of X-Clan-inspired raps.

“Skinning The Drum” rains praise on Jel, who responds in kind with a trademark live MPC performance vivifying the old “Apache” and “Cold Sweat” breaks. On “Deadcatclear II,” Dose is uncommonly nude, spinning a real-life narrative about playing caretaker to a stray cat’s corpse as a child, discovering incredulity for God in the severity of death. All of which lays foundation for the crux end of CrownsDown, “Gold Teeth Will Roll.” Here, over surging cutup soul, Dose growls, “Who will come kill me/taking their rings off like women/because I will swear on their weakness,” casting Themselves in the final archetype: righteous defenders of the culture. This sentiment cuts to the core of CrownsDown. In carving out their own classic, Doseone and Jel not only aim to topple those wrongly kinged, but lay down their own sweat-and-blood-made crowns at the feet of the thing they admire most.

MIIKE SNOW ANNOUNCE FULL NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINING TOUR THIS SPRING TOUR DATES KICK OFF MARCH 22nd IN ATLANTA THROUGHOUT APRIL 15th IN SAN FRANCISCO

Following their wildly successful tour throughout North America this fall, the Downtown Records / Universal Republic trio Miike Snow are eagerly returning to the US in Spring 2010 for their second headlining tour beginning March 22nd in Atlanta and continuing across the country throughout April 15th in San Francisco.

Receiving great reception for their live translations of the highly refined electronic compositions featured on their self-titled debut, the combination of Swedish producers and multi-instrumentalists Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg along with New York-based songwriter Andrew Wyatt expand on their dynamic sound with a six-piece band.

The songs of Miike Snow have recently been featured on primetime TV, twice on the third season of Gossip Girl, with “Plastic Jungle” ushering in the new season and “Animal” closing out the third episode with its now widely known anthemic chorus. The band is now gearing up for their follow-up single to the groundbreaking debut of “Animal” with “Silvia,” an ode that follows its’ predecessors pop intelligence.

Press on Miike Snow:

“They all have deliriously intuitive talent and are capable of expressing a wide range of emotions through music.” – FILTER

“The lush sounds and subtle electronic flourishes make it all thoroughly modern, thick with a tactile atmosphere similar to Depeche Mode’s “Violator” album.” – LOS ANGELES TIMES

“…with such a big, layered sound it’s easy to imagine them headlining major venues.” – TOKION

“Instantly accessible…its pop synths, slick guitar riffs and tender lyrics make the group a perfect fit for a party.” – NPR

“This is going to get huge…This is a band that is already too big for its venues, and will likely only get bigger.” – SF WEEKLY

SLIM TWIG RELEASES SPIT IT TWIG! VOL.2, EMBARKS ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

DOWNLOAD SPIT IT TWIG! Vol. 1 and 2 HERE

Toronto’s song-sculptor and shape-shifting performer Slim Twig is capping off a hectic year by releasing the second volume of his Spit It Twig! Mixtape series before heading out on a string of North American dates. This follows the release of Slim Twig’s debut album Contempt! on Paper Bag Records, which was released in April of this year.

As a nod to the hip hop mixtapes he loves, Spit It Twig! began with Vol. 1 released in advance on Contempt! ‘as a skeletal blueprint’ of his debut album by creating a sample-based album, a la Wu-Tang Clan, combined with his own style of vocals. Some of the tracks from Spit It Twig! have also been popping up in Slim’s live shows of late. Both volumes are available for download at the above link.

“Spit It Twig Vol. 2 represents my commitment to the free mixtape format I admire so much in artists like Lil Wayne & the Clipse. This time I decided to stretch out my repertoire in directions both more overtly hip hop (’This Night’s Untold’ & ‘More Mercy, Miss Percy’), and even more abstract (’The Pink Room’, ‘Perfect Pitch’). This mix also features more collaboration than any of my other releases with contributions from Dirty Beaches, Onakabazien, D-Sisive and a (one-sided-career-fullfilling) collab with David Lynch. The diversity of Spit It Twig Vol. 2 was meant to reveal my intention & future direction with tapes which is to periodically expose experiments, and spontaneous ideas to those who are curious… all for a great price.” – Slim Twig

Slim Twig’s artistic vision is born from a twisted landscape of pop, experimental music and avant-garde film. Besides his great hair, this vision has given many critics a lot to write about since first being introduced last year with his two-part EP series, Derelict Dialect and Vernacular Violence. Critics have noted Slim’s “soliloquist’s flair” (Globe and Mail) and the “mesmerizing” quality and “enduring mythology” of songs like ‘Whiite Fantaseee’ (Pitchfork).
