Souls Of Mischief Release Artwork & Track List For New Album, Montezuma’s Revenge Legendary West Coast Collective Collaborate With Artist Steven Lopez For Album Artwork

ouls Of Mischief, the Oakland, CA quartet and members of the mighty Hieroglyphics Crew are very proud to announce the release of the artwork and track listing for their new album, Montezuma’s Revenge. The crew tapped artist Steven Lopez to paint a portrait of the group and album producer Prince Paul. Lopez is perhaps best known for his work with Erykah Badu. The album will be available December 2nd via Hiero Imperium Records.

As Souls Of Mischief releases the track listing for their new album, their collaborative effort for the album artwork should be brought to light as well. This being their first album in almost 10 years, the group decided to try something different this time around for the album cover. With all previous album covers based around photography, Souls decided to enlist a painter to handle the artwork. Steven Lopez ended up being chosen to handle the delegated task. For those who are not familiar with Steven Lopez’s work, his resume runs the gamut from street art to a collaboration with Erykah Badu. Lopez, being a fan of SOM himself since their debut album, 93 ’til Infinity gladly accepted. “When you work with other artists of the same caliber, there is no need to convince or walk them through. They are legit and it didn’t take us long to have faith in each other. The icing on the cake was the fact that these cats are die-hard b-boys. This has always been my attitude in life and it was great to share it with them,” stated Lopez when asked about his experience working with SOM. He succeeds in creating a painting that not only captures the group in its entirety, but the subtleties of each member individually as well. The result is a narrative image. He explains, “I dislike pictures that are purposely posed, so I would talk to each member and ask them to reenact certain memories and moments. Those were the shots that I was looking for. It was like a picture that alludes to another story.”

Wax Tailor’s first tour in the United States saw him opening for RJD2 and now he is coming back, headling his own tour bringing his signature sound of perfectly blended Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz and 60s Pop to the States. In anticipation of the November 10th release of their newest Prince Paul-produced effort, Montezuma’s Revenge, Oakland, California hip-hop crew Souls Of Mischief are gearing up to set out on the “Montezuma’s Revenge World Tour ‘09,” a tour consisting of 35 dates over one and a half months throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. They will perform for 19 dates here in the US and 16 in Europe with stops at Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Berlin, to name a few. Being one of the most globally expansive tours to date for the legendary group, emcee/Hiero Imperium CEO Tajai explains what he’s looking forward to about this particular tour saying, “It’s a new album and a new beginning for us. WARREN G ANNOUNCES NATIONAL US TOUR, KICKED OFF BY AN ALBUM RELEASE PARTY IN LOS ANGELES 10-1-09 THE G FILES, PRODUCED BY WARREN G, TO BE RELEASED 9-29-09

After 10 million albums sold worldwide, Warren G’s seventh studio album, THE G FILES, will be released on September 29th. Self-produced and packed with all-star talents including Snoop Dogg, Travis Barker, Ray J and many more, the current single, “100 Miles and Runnin” featuring Raekwon and Nate Dogg is quickly making its way on to radio stations across the country.

In support of THE G FILES, Warren G will be headlining a 21-city national tour that kicks off with his record release party on October 1st at the Roxy in Los Angeles. Warren G is in New York this week filming the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Awards where he will be performing as part of the celebration for Def Jam’s 25th Anniversary. When most West Coast artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop and Tupac were signing with LA’s Death Row Records, Warren walked a different path and signed with East Coast label Def Jam in 1994. Def Jam founder and the God Father of Hip Hop, Russell Simmons, later cited Warren G’s signing as “a turning point” for Def Jam Records and its subsequent mega-success. “After that, Def Jam never looked back,” Simmons wrote in his book Life and Def.

Warren is looking forward to getting back on the road. He has toured the world, most notably, Warren was a part of one of the most successful Hip Hop tours ever- the Up In Smoke Tour with his brother Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Ice Cube and more.

The “R&B Romantic” Studdard Set To Join David Foster And Friends Tour This Fall

R&B stalwart Ruben Studdard follows a successful summer of live, TV and radio appearances with the release of “Don’t Make ‘Em Like U No More,” the second single from his current album ‘Love Is’ (on Hickory Records/ 19 Recordings). The song has been described as a “sleek and soulful R&B ode to everyone’s special someone” and has been creating excitement at radio stations across the country.

With its charming chorus (”They don’t make ‘em like U no more”), the romantic song fits perfectly with the grand theme of ‘Love IS’ – an album Entertainment Weekly called a “mix of crafty originals and sturdy covers” featuring tracks that give “Ne-Yo a run for his dance-pop money.” “Don’t Make ‘Em Like U No More” hits Urban AC radio September 29.

On October 21st, Studdard will join Philip Bailey (Earth, Wind and Fire), Charice, Peter Cetera (Chicago) and Michael Johns on the David Foster And Friends Tour kicking off in Chicago, Illinois. The tour will include stops in New York, Boston, LA and Miami and is bound to draw both new and old fans to see Studdard, a.k.a. “the Velvet Teddy Bear,” perform.
