Gringo Star’s debut album All Y’all out November 4

DEBUT ALBUM, “ALL Y’ALL” RELEASED NOVEMBER 4 (My Anxious Mouth Records) Produced by Ben H. Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective).

“A little scuzzy, a little jangly and a lot awesome” Blender

“A tapestry of jangly guitar and multi-part vocal harmonies, and ranges from psychedelia to garage rock to surf pop. A bit off-kilter and more than a little charming, it’s Atlanta pop at its best and communicates as well as any recording could what it’s like to see the band live. No song better represents the band than the title track (and first single), ‘All Y’all’: It’s anthemic, hook-filled and catchy as hell” Paste

“An outstanding new album” This Week In New York

By condensing a palate of swirling and innovative guitar voyages and a sweat-soaked baroque punk ethos that loses itself in carpet-crawling majesty, Gringo Star has emerged as Atlanta’s favorite rock and roll sons. Brothers Nick and Pete Furgiuele, along with Pete DeLorenzo and Matt McCalvin have continually built momentum, crisscrossing the country and honing their chops on rock and roll’s frontline. Crafting an art-damaged and intense presence, the group’s sound falls somewhere between The Animals, Motown and The Kinks. In person, the group’s soft-spoken demeanor instills a sense of alluring mystery, but on stage, Gringo Star explode. Never ones to hang on to the same instruments for too long, each member of the group sprints and hurdles from station to station, swapping out guitar for bass for drums for voice, keyboard for accordion, kazoo for tambourine. As a result, the band’s multifaceted musicianship culminates in dense and cerebral rock mantras that are hard-wired to the head and heart.

The world is about to get a little closer – welcome to One Movement Festival Perth.

One Movement Festival Perth is an international music event based in Perth, Western Australia and focused on the Australian and Australasian music market in a global context. From October 16-18 2009 Perth will truly become the centre of the global music industry.

The festival will unite industry professionals from the music, media and technology sectors, whilst creating new platforms to deal with the future of our multi-faceted music community
for artists, industry and fans alike.

Making the official announcement in Perth yesterday, October 28th, was the Honourable Dr Elizabeth Constable MLA, Minister for Tourism, who was linked via satellite with London’s Musexpo where BBC World’s Owen Thomas hosted Tommy Ramone (The Ramones), Seymour Stein (co-founder Sire Records, Vice President Warner Bros. Records), Harvey Goldsmith, Richard Kingsmill (Triple J), Steve Schnur (Worldwide Head of Music, EA Games), plus One Movement Partners Michael Chugg, David Chitty and Sat Bisla in launching the One Movement Festival Perth. Please go to for pictures and video of the launch event.

A core element of the One Movement Festival will be artist-based, showcasing the greatest new global talent set for the international stage. This global stage in the heart of downtown Perth will include the industry’s key decision-makers, along with artists and the fans – Artist-Industry-Fan-United.

One Movement Festival Perth represents the combined expertise of some of the world’s finest operators in the music business – A&R Worldwide, Sunset Events and Chugg Entertainment (see biographies below). And it is all made possible with the crucial support of Eventscorp.

A&R Worldwide are the team behind the successful MUSEXPO brand, with major conferences in both London and Los Angeles. Now Perth completes the picture, with the group covering the three major global markets: America, UK/Europe and Australasia.

Sunset Events identified a major opportunity in hosting a world-class music industry conference and showcasing event for the southern hemisphere. With all key stakeholders in place, One Movement has a strong foundation from which to fill the void in the southern hemisphere of a premier event of this nature, akin to similar high-profile events in the both the US and Europe.

The Asia, Australasia and Pacific Rim territories are key markets of growth and opportunity for the music industry and One Movement Festival Perth’s vision will be to make Perth the epicentre of the industry for the duration of the three-day festival. One Movement fulfils a clear opportunity that has been pressing for some time, to launch such an event in the Australasian region.

Whether you are coming from China, India, Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Eastern Europe, within Australia or any other part of the globe, this will be a red-letter event for the artist, industry and fans alike. One Movement is about positive change.

Of the inception of One Movement, Chugg Entertainment’s Michael Chugg says: “One Movement Festival Perth is long overdue and gives the music business worldwide a massive opportunity to gather and exchange ideas on all facets of the changing face of our industry, including: the booming live scene, IT and telcos, recording, digital music and copyright. This festival will give the Australian and Asian-Pacific music industries a platform for inter-action and bonding like never before.

“One Movement will give the Oz industry the chance to learn more about our Asian neighbours and they about us; something very dear to my heart and important to our country’s position as a major part of the worldwide industry in future years. I’m very proud to have played a small part in this bold move.”

A&R Worldwide’s Sat Bisla adds: “We are excited to be working with the legendary Michael Chugg, Sunset Events and Eventscorp as part of a global event that will unite artists, fans and industry together through their common passion for music. One Movement Festival Perth will bring the local, national and international communities together for the purpose of experiencing the crème de la crème of live music, discovering new creative and business solutions and opportunities for a fast-changing worldwide music industry, as well as interacting with fans who support our common passion for all things music.”

Perth is the centre of the earth, figuratively speaking, and over the past decade has exploded to the forefront of the Australian music scene. The city has bred many of the country’s current leading acts, from Eskimo Joe to John Butler Trio, Snowman, Little Birdy, Bob Evans, Birds of Tokyo, the Panics, the Waifs, the Sleepy Jackson, End of Fashion, Jebediah, Gyroscope and many more. These acts have all experienced national success and are making massive progress into the international market.

“Perth has been changing before our eyes,” Sunset Events’ David Chitty says of the festival’s home base. “The past couple of years have seen a rapid transformation from the parochial city of old into a highly developed and sophisticated city, with an arts scene to match. One Movement has the capability of solidifying this positive change, in seducing international attention through music with an event that is of importance to the entire global industry.

“In short, One Movement can reposition the way Perth is perceived culturally both here, interstate and internationally.”

There has never been a better time or place from which to launch a major international music industry event. One Movement Festival Perth will bring the world together through music.

Together we can face the challenges of the future and take on pressing global issues with clear, co-operative solutions. There is one common thread that is universal and knows no borders, and that is music. Together we are One Movement.

Michael Chugg is universally considered one of the pioneers of the Australian music industry, with over 40 years experience in organising and promoting international artists. His efforts have not only included promoting some of the biggest concerts in Australia and New Zealand, but also his ongoing and passionate promotion of Australian music to the rest of the world.

Michael Chugg represents the history and heritage of the Australian music industry. With a strong background in the Asian industry, his involvement and expertise will strongly support the marketing of the One Movement Festival in the Asian region.

Sat Bisla, a British native with East Indian roots, has a strong pedigree in the international music business. He has created a number of successful businesses involved in artist discovery and development. Some of the artists he has helped before their major label signings include: Keane, Dido, Faithless, Fatboy Slim, Ting Tings and Missy Higgins.

Bisla founded A&R Worldwide in 2003 and his global executive networking dinners gave birth to MUSEXPO in 2005. The convention has developed into the most influential music, media and technology conference staged annually in Los Angeles and now Europe. The event now attracts hundreds of key decision-makers and artists from over three-dozen countries worldwide.

Dave Chitty and Sunset Events continue to redefine the word ‘festival’ in Western Australia. Both the Southbound and West Coast Blues ’n’ Roots Festivals have become main events on the Australian festival circuit and helped develop WA’s arts and culture scene.

With their combined emphasis on music, the arts, culture and environmental awareness, Chitty and Sunset Events are forging the future of global festivals, right in the heart of Western Australia.

Multi-genre musical pioneer Beck ( expands his innovative reach yet again, with two upcoming creative collaborations with MySpace Music:

The worldwide debut of a brand new video for “Gamma Ray,” the current single from Beck’s universally acclaimed Modern Guilt, will premiere on MySpace Music ( on Tuesday, October 28. Directed by Jess Holzworth, the new “Gamma Ray Redux” music video features Chloe Sevigny as a post apocalyptic go-go dancer set loose in a Dada-ist pastiche of psychedelic imagery and characters.

Additionally, a lucky Beck MySpace fan will be chosen to make their very own “Beckumentary” on November 9, at the first of Beck’s two sold out nights at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The Beckumentarian will conduct an interview with Beck and shoot both performance and behind-the-scenes footage. The resulting documentary will premiere Tuesday, November 18 on MySpace Music.

“This is what MySpace Music is all about–enabling huge fans to connect with the artists they love,” said Josh Brooks, VP of Music Marketing for MySpace. “Beck has etched his name in the good book of rock. We are thrilled that he is using our site to reach out to fans on a personal level- it’s truly a testament to how much he appreciates their support. “

Dido Safe Trip Home Videos and Contest

The first four of eleven short films accompanying Dido’s new album, Safe Trip Home, are now available at The films, produced by different directors from around the globe, are interpretations of Dido’s songs through others’ eyes. In support of her third album which releases November 18th, fans are being offered a unique contest (, where winners and a guest receive roundtrip flights and two nights in a hotel at a secret location. There, they will listen to the album in its entirety and have the opportunity to meet Dido in person.

Don’t Believe In Love” Stream

Eleven short films are being produced to accompany the release of Dido’s third studio album, Safe Trip Home.

Based thematically around the concept of home, these shorts feature stories of hope, love, commitment and longing, from around the globe, a dump site in Rio, a Mumbai taxi-cab, the rugged coast of New Zealand’s South Island, a Thai boxing ring and a picturesque Portuguese fishing village.

‘I wanted every song to have its own film to represent the album as a whole. I love seeing how someone else might interpret a song that is so specific and personal to me. It’s an experiment I’ve been really enjoying, watching the songs be turned on their heads by these beautiful emotional visual stories that are coming out of it.’

Dido asked various film directors in specific countries around the world to create pieces based on their idea of what home means to them, using a chosen song from the album for inspiration. The resulting films have so far been made in Brazil, New Zealand, Thailand, England, Scotland, India, Portugal, France and the US.

Internationally renowned photographer and filmmaker Marcos Prado based ‘us 2 little gods’ on the award-winning feature documentary Estamira he made in 2006. This film tells the story of an elderly woman who has made her home in a waste site in Rio de Janeiro.

Says Marcos: “Estamira is an extraordinary woman that lived and worked for twenty years at the Waste Disposal Site of Jardim Gramacho. I wanted to show the amazing relationship of love, care and friendship Estamira and her friends shared in that odd place they called ‘home’.”

Brazilian director Cristiana Miranda used ‘the day before the day’ to portray a day in the life of a young fisherman from a seaside village in Portugal.

“Fishermen leave their homes every day before dawn to travel to their other home: the sea. The home they leave behind is where they sleep and eat and take care of their families, the home they go to is the home they respect and admire. They cannot live without both.”

The films will be available to view online at from 27 October 2008.

Safe Trip Home, will be released by Cheeky / RCA on 18 November.

Kottonmouth Kings Joins Forces With Motocross Daredevil Seth Enslow In “Where I’m Going” Video

Rip-hop hybrids the Kottonmouth Kings have posted the video for their new single “Where I’m Going” online at .The video was directed by Kevin Stokes deep in an old abandoned mine in the California desert and stars motocross daredevil Seth Enslow.

“Where I’m Going is a deeply introspective song about finding yourself, so we went out to the desert to an old ghost town that Brad X knew about,” says Kottonmouth Kings frontman Johnny Richter. “We were out there puffing before the sun came up and long after the sun went down.”

The Kottonmouth Kings “Where I’m Going” is one of the tracks recorded over a six month period at the group’s Burbank, CA based studio for the release of the group’s monumental tenth studio effort “The Green Album”. The album is the missing link between earth shattering hip-hop and rawkus punk-rock, but also mixes in stoney acoustic melodies to create an innovative style that can only be described as “rip-hop”. In a continued effort to raise awareness about environmental and social issues, a portion of the album’s proceeds will be made to the Surf Rider Foundation (an organization that preserves the nation’s waves and beaches), the wounded soldiers of Ward 57 and Life Rolls On (an organization that aids young people whose lives have been affected by spinal cord injuries).

Kottonmouth Kings are about to embark on headlining tour in support of the album, which lands in stores on October 28th, alongside (Hed)pe, Big B, Dirtball and Short Dawg.

Genesis 1970-1975 Box Set Available on November 11

Rhino presents the release of Genesis 1970-1975 Box Set on November 11. The 7-CD/6-DVD boxed set contains 5 studio albums (1970-1975) expanded with bonus audio and video, plus an exclusive disc of rarities.

I Know What I Like [In Your Wardrobe] Video Streams – Windows Media

Since launching an upgrade of the entire Genesis catalog last year, the comprehensive series has followed Genesis’ transformation from prog-rock pioneers to stadium-filling power trio. With the final installment, Rhino ends at the beginning with a set covering the band’s early years with lead singer, Peter Gabriel. GENESIS: 1970-1975 will be available November 11 from regular retail outlets and at for a suggested list price of $139.98.

Produced by Banks, Collins, and Rutherford, GENESIS: 1970-1975 presents five of the band’s studio albums as CD/DVD sets featuring new stereo mixes of the original albums on CD, along with a DVD that includes the original album in 5.1 DTS (96/24) and Dolby Digital Surround Sound, plus bonus videos and new interviews with band members filmed exclusively for these reissues. The set contains hours of previously unreleased video as well as photo galleries featuring rare pictures and tour memorabilia.

One of the top-selling recording artists of all time, Genesis has sold more than 150 million albums so far. This 7-CD/6-DVD set collects some of the band’s most adventurous and ground-breaking albums, covering Peter Gabriel’s tenure with the group.

GENESIS: 1970-1975 spotlights five albums – TRESPASS, NURSERY CRYME, FOXTROT, SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND and THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY, plus EXTRAS 1970-1975, a newly assembled compilation only available with this collection.

Featuring favorites like “The Knife” and “White Mountain,” Genesis’

second album, TRESPASS (1970), marked the beginning of a five-year journey that saw the band create ever-more daring albums of progressive rock. The album includes guitarist Anthony Phillips and drummer John Mayhew, who were replaced on the following album by Steve Hackett and Phil Collins respectively.

NURSERY CRYME (1971) opens with “The Musical Box,” a beautiful 10-minute sprawl that captures the essence of the band’s sophisticated musicality tweaked with freewheeling theatrics. Genesis’ new lineup starts to define its unique voice on songs like “The Return Of The Giant Hogweed”and “The Fountain Of Salmacis.”

The band returned the following year with FOXTROT (1972), a breakthrough album hailed by critics and embraced by fans, especially in England where it reached #12. Two tracks in particular – “Watcher Of The Skies”and “Supper’s Ready” – became live staples for years to come. Nearly filling the album’s second half, “Supper’s Ready” stands as an avant-garde showcase for each member’s individual talents. DVD extrasinclude: over 30 minutes of live video from 1972 of the band performing on Belgian television’s Rock of the 70s and on stage at the Piper Club in Italy.

Genesis’ popularity continued to grow with its fifth studio album, SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND (1973). These eight songs find the band’s inventive storytelling and imaginative arrangements coming into sharper focus with “I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)” – Genesis’ first hit single in the U.K. The album also introduced audiences to “The Cinema Show” and “Firth Of Fifth,” songs that would become popular concert staples. DVD extrasinclude: video from 1973 recorded during a performance on Italian television and on stage in Bataclan, France – over one and a half hours of live performance.

The band wasn’t at a loss for inspiration for THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY (1974), a double album about a Puerto Rican hood searching for his brother. It was to be Gabriel’s final release with Genesis. The band toured for the album, performing the entire 90-minute album along with an ambitious stage show complete with costume changes, theatrical lighting and pyrotechnics. The title track, “Carpet Crawlers” and “In The Cage” remain popular parts of the band’s live show. The album will be presented with the Surround Sound mix. Additional bonus features will be included on a DVD, including a performance on the French television show Melody.

GENESIS concludes with EXTRAS 1970-1975, a disc of rarities offered exclusively as part of this boxed set. The compilation contains 10 tracks, including the 7″ single “Happy The Man,” a demo of “Going Out To Get You,”

and the b-side “Twilight Alehouse.” A trio of songs – “Shepherd,”

“Pacidy”and “Let Us Now Make Love” – are taken from the BBC program Nightride.

The disc also includes a VH1 Boxed Set Special on Genesis 1967-1975 and a performance from the Midnight Special.

The final four songs on EXTRA TRACKS 1970-1975 – “Provocation,”

“Frustration,” “Manipulation,” and “Resignation” – are the legendary “Genesis Plays Jackson” tapes. The band recorded these songs in 1970 for a documentary about painter Mick Jackson. The documentary never happened and the songs were lost until now. Fans will notice how sections of this music evolved into other songs. “Frustration” is an early version of “Anyway”

from The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, while “Manipulation” features themes heard later in “The Musical Box” from Nursery Cryme.
