LANDy’s ‘Eros And Omissions’ Collects Six Years Of Sub-Rosa Songwriting from Adam Goldberg LANDy Collection Set To Be Released on June 23, 2009 Album Features Contributions From Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips) and Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart) among others.
On June 23, Adam Goldberg-known mostly for his work as an actor in film and television- is set to debut his collection of songs under the moniker LANDy. LANDy’s debut album ‘Eros And Omissions’ were all written and recorded by Goldberg over the course of six years, with assistance from The Flaming Lips’ Steven Drozd, Earlimart’s Aaron Espinoza, and the Los Angeles group The Black Pine.
Actor and filmmaker Adam Goldberg has been recording music in some fashion or another since 1990–albeit for small audience of friends and family.
In early 2002, Goldberg met Emma Kathan of The Black Pine, and within a month found himself ensconced with the band. He was among kindred spirits and found himself recording in their home studio every couple of weeks. By the end of 2002 they recorded “I’ll be Around” the first offical LANDy song.
That year they would also record a song for the closing credit sequence of ‘The Hebrew Hammer, ‘ under the name Roomtone. Goldberg would provide the music for a special he directed and which he starred for the Independent Film Channel, called ‘Running With The Bulls.’ Much of the music was “recorded” simply playing keyboards and guitars into a Boss loop pedal, which he found gave him a rather agreeable poor man’s wall of sound quality. Some of the loops from this era wove their way into ‘Everything Must Go.’ The Room, as they were now known, also recorded a song for the closing credit sequence.
Concurrently, Goldberg met the obscenely talented Flaming Lips multi-instrumentalist Stephen Drozd and asked him to co-compose the soundtrack to his second picture, ‘I Love Your Work.’ Over the next couple years, Goldberg collaborated with Drozd, The Black Pine and other musicians, and the ‘Everything Must Go’ album began to take shape.
In Spring of 2005 Goldberg flew to Oklahoma, where he recorded three new songs with Drozd at Trent Bell’s studio (where the Lips have recorded) and added some Drozd drums to existing recordings. It was during these sessions that the name LANDy began to stick, ending years of the “you know what would make a great band name?” drinking game.
Goldberg then returned to Los Angeles, began to mix and record overdubs on the sessions (some of which consisted of up to 50 tracks), by himself on his now Goliath Pro Tools system, and finally, went insane.
Goldberg took a break.
By January 2008, Goldberg had accrued so many recordings he felt ready to retire. Only, he had yet to release anything. But then one night at a Mark Eitzel gig he met Aaron Espinoza of Earlimart and enlisted him to help fashion the LANDy archives into a cohesive album
So, here we are, Spring of 2009–a year so sci-fi sounding that Little Tascam Goldberg was never entirely sure would actually exist; but Old Tired Goldberg is quite sure, however, it’s a splendid time to finally present to you and yours: LANDy.
‘Eros And Omissions’ was recorded in New York, Los Angeles and Norman, Oklahoma in studios, living rooms and other locales. Goldberg plays guitar, keyboards, drums and other instruments on the album, and sings all of the songs.
JOSH REICHMANN ORACLE BAND RESPONDS TO BAT FOR LASHES’ “DANIEL,” ALBUM “CRAZY POWER” OUT TODAY!
Toronto artist Josh Reichmann Oracle Band (formerly of Frenchkiss post-punk band Tangiers) has decided to cover another newly-famed indie hit, this time, a haunting male response to Bat For Lashes’ incredible song, “Daniel.” Josh is making the cover available for mp3 download in celebration of the release of his debut LP, “Crazy Power,” out today on Paper Bag Records.
According to Josh: “I’m aiming with these covers (Deerhunter, Bat For Lashes and Bill Callahan upcoming) to showcase the songwriting that I think is strongest by these artists and refrence there production but put my spin on them- which is to bring a raw strange life to there voices and recontextualize or open up the lyrical themes to new dementions. I only cover things that feel soulfull or timless, something I strive for in my music.”

Josh Reichmann Oracle Band and Paper Bag Records celebrate the release of his full-length debut, “Crazy Power,” out today. The followup to his “Life Is Legal” EP, Josh has gone in a new direction since Tangiers split, gathering from a pool of soul, early-funk, roots and dark punk influences. Already known for being an enigmatic performer, he now fronts a five-piece band, incorporating heavy saxophone, Stevie Wonder-meets-The Stooges keyboards, soul-style drumming, a live dancer(formerly of the National Ballet), and thick roots bass.
Josh and his band recently wrapped a US tour with collaborator Sebastian Grainger and will hit the road once again in support of “Crazy Power'”s release.
“[Josh Reichmann] the charismatic frontman has produced an arty rock-psychedelic album so inherently bold and confident that it’s sensible for him to take credit for it. (And if he hadn’t done so ’70s-era Brian Eno may have.) – HEEB
“Josh Reichmann has shed his punky sides in favor of something a bit jazzier…a medley of bombastic horns, roots-rock bass and groovy vocals.” – CMJ
“He’s also handsome.” – The Fader

H&M ANNOUNCES ANOTHER STAR STUDDED ROSTER FOR FASHION AGAINST AIDS 2009
For the second year in a row, H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA) team up with some of the biggest celebrities from the world of fashion, music and entertainment. The Fashion Against AIDS apparel campaign works to fight the disease and raise awareness among young people. Artists such as Estelle, N.E.R.D, Katy Perry, Dita von Teese, and Yoko Ono worked with H&M to design t-shirts, t-shirt dresses, tank tops and bodysuits. Twenty five percent of the campaign sales will be donated to HIV/AIDS youth awareness projects. This special 100 percent organic cotton collection launches for guys and girls in H&M DIVIDED departments beginning June 2009.
“The collection has a 1980s feel with mixtures of white, bright and graffiti-like prints. Girls can wear them with short skirts or worn denim with big accessories to complete the look. Boys can match the t-shirts with colored denim or rolled-up chinos complimenting the 80s aesthetic” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M Head of Design. “The fight against AIDS has always been one of our priorities, and H&M is overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and commitment from each and every celebrity involved in this collection.”
“H&M and Fashion Against AIDS are very important to us. We could never reach an audience of so many young people on our own,” explains Ninette Murk, founder, Designers Against AIDS. “AIDS is still a significant issue. People establish an attitude towards their sex lives at a very young age, so it’s very important for them to realize how crucial safe sex is, as early as possible.”
For the 2009 Fashion Against AIDS collection, the message is loud and clear with bold language and vibrant colors. Roisin Murphy’s t-shirt is bold with the phrase “PROTECTION IS POWER” on the front and back of a men’s t-shirt and a women’s bodysuit. N.E.R.D uses a clever graphic to shout “USE YOUR BRAIN” on vibrant tank tops and t-shirts for both men and women. Estelle designed a tank top with the slogan “LIFE IS TOO SHORT – HAVE SEX BE SAFE” next to a sassy silhouette of an empowered woman. Katy Perry’s clever safe sex message, “WHAT’S ON THE OUTSIDE IS WHAT COUNTS,” appears on both a bodysuit and a cap-sleeved shirt. In a nostalgic nod to her roots, “GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE SAFE SEX” is scribbled in pink lipstick on Cyndi Lauper’s t-shirt. Others include Yoko Ono’s design of the words “IMAGINE PEACE” in multiple languages and Robyn’s feisty “PROTECT YOUR BODY.” Dita Von Teese, an avid supporter of AIDS causes, created an alluring image of her iconic red lips and arched brow on a cute cap-sleeved T.
“It’s an honor to be asked to take part in this brilliant project. As individuals, every little thing we do can add up to something that makes a major impact in the fight against HIV,” says Dita Von Teese. “With the purchase of these stylish t-shirts, anyone can be a part of something that makes a huge difference in this pandemic, while looking super-chic!”
In the United States alone, over a million people were living with HIV by the end of 2008. What is particularly worrisome is that an estimated 250,000 of these individuals were unaware of their HIV positive status. Fashion Against AIDS fights the assumption that the message about HIV and AIDS is widely known. Each new generation needs to be made aware of AIDS to prevent further spread of the disease. With HIV and AIDS, complacency is not an option.
This is the second year that H&M has teamed up with the charitable organization Designers Against AIDS to disseminate the safe sex message to young people. Last year’s campaign was a stunning success, with over SEK 15 million donated to HIV/AIDS prevention projects.

Drums of Death aka Colin J. Bailey is a voodoo hoodlum for Generation Hexed. Signed to Berlin/London Hot Chip affiliated label Greco Roman he is the grimey electro-soul romanticist, being propelled around the world with his love songs and rave horns.?Growing up in a remote village in Scotland with a teenage youth misspent playing in metal and punk-rock bands and by the time Bailey reached his mid 20’s he was DJing and playing an integral part within the Glasgow underground dance scene. A move to London set him on a path to unite the energy of punk-rock performances with the machine-funk rhythms of electronic music.
Already Drums of Death has an impressive body of work, remixes and collaborations having been recently tipped on BBC’s Introducing series as one of this years most promising acts, recently nominated as ‘Best New Producer’ in DJ Mag (UK), about to embark on a world-wide ‘I Feel Cream’ tour with Peaches (with whom he made the title track of her new album… ) and not to mention finishing up his debut album for Greco-Roman and his forthcoming live band. Things are look promising for this one man hell-raising voodoo raver.

“A vaudevillain villain obsessed with sirens, noise and sonic destruction”

A short tale about Drums of Death…
Drums of Death came to be after an encounter with a dark priest on a sorrowful night in Haiti. A musician known as Colin Bailey emerged from this near fatal encounter as you see him now: dark, dishevelled and disfigured. Cursed by magick, Bailey’s heart was cut out and as he lay on the brink of death, the voodoo priest fixed a broken drum machine into his chest. The voodoo machine pulsed its artificial rhythm through his chest and around his blood, helping bind him to the earth whilst further fuelling his dark desires and terrible urges.
Drums of Death’s music is borne out of these urges. Passion for the synthetic pulse of grime and techno mixed with the rhythms and primal lusts of low-down, swamp rock ‘n roll. Add to this an electronic live show that solicits a hot mix of these influences and a desire to bring something wild to dark clubs and you have the ultimate rave-inflicting artist. It’s a testament to a youth spent in metal bands whilst growing up in a small Scottish town with subsequent discoveries of techno at raves in Glasgow and bass culture from his time in London.
The voice is just as an integral part to the Drums of Death experience than the profound bass pressure. Throwing out rhymes and lyrics with equal gusto, these twisted, FX-drenched flows and cut-up, destroyed yells trawl for influence from abstract sources, drawing upon strange imagery and bending reason and melody to breaking point.

HEALTH SET TO RELEASE GET COLOR ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 GET COLOR IS CHOCK-FULL OF AWE INSPIRING ENERGY AND NOISE HEALTH IS ONE OF FALL’S DON’T MISS RELEASES
On September 8th 2009, HEALTH answer the call and release their second album GET COLOR (Lovepump United). Recorded in an especially gnarly part of Lincoln Heights, L.A with Manny Nieto, GET COLOR is an exuberant proclamation of noise, rock and electronic splendor. The record is a celebration of sound; pretty, harsh, soft and basked in a blanket of ethereal vocals. GET COLOR is the manifesto HEALTH have been promising since their inception
HEALTH are the new frontier of noise rock. Formed in 2005, HEALTH self-recorded their debut album over the course of 9 months at Los Angeles D.I.Y. venue The Smell, birthing an urgent and extraordinary album which seethed with ghostly, epic pop and spurts of chaotic noise. The band’s shows grew wilder; kids danced & moshed; blogs freaked out; critics raved and everyone wondered how in God’s name HEALTH was going to follow it up. While the anticipation continued to build, HEALTH released a critically-acclaimed remix record HEALTH//DISCO, toured with the likes of Crystal Castles, Nine Inch Nails, and Of Montreal and played over 420 shows!
In April, HEALTH emerged with their first new single since 2007: “DIE SLOW” received immediate accolades from Pitchfork & NME, with the effects rippling across their DIE SLOW THROUGH EUROPE tour, resulting in a near-riot in Eastern Europe. The song’s infectious fusion of noise and dance was the most fully-formed and undeniably rad piece of music from HEALTH yet. And it only served to rile up their fans more. The new full-length was desperately needed.
NOW is that time. GET COLOR is the record.
HEALTH – GET COLOR
