JARS OF CLAY has a NEW MUSIC VIDEO for “TWO HANDS” available NOW! This video shows their work in Africa with Blood:Water Mission.
Special Message from Dan:
Sometimes music videos tell stories. This video tells the story of a band’s journey to get our own hands dirty. Someone once defined the role of an artist as the act of looking at the world and describing it…not just as the world is… but also as it should be.
There is only so much looking and describing a band can do when faced with injustices, and tragedies… and also the heroic stories of those who rise above their fears and overcome insurmountable obstacles. Two Hands is a song about overcoming our own fears and finding reasons to care about others even when we don’t feel equipped to do so

THESE ARE POWERS ANNOUNCE CHINA TOUR NINE DATES INCLUDE SHOWS IN BEIJING AND SHANGHAI
These Are Powers will be bringing their soundtrack for the future peace movement to China for nine dates that include a residency at Beijing’s D-22 Club with additional dates in Shanghei, Nanjing, Wuhan and Tiajin. Sharing the bill on select dates with Carsick Cars – pioneers of China’s developing “No Beijing” scene – These Are Powers invitation to perform in China arrives at a crucial time as contemporary artists, modern composers and rock musicians in the world’s most populated nation are experiencing a revival after years of suppression from the communist authorities. Tour dates and more information below.
These Are Powers’ All Aboard Future album cross-wires art-damaged difficult listening with skewed rock swagger. The result is a thrilling, hyperpercussive collection of laptop ditties mixed so cleverly that they’ll sound great ticking through earbuds or booming out of dad’s trusty Cerwin-Vegas. SPIN
These Are Powers release All Aboard Future–for all its dystopian doom–somehow shakes out as the first truly modern punk record of 2009. ALTERNATIVE PRESS
As far as tone is concerned, These Are Powers have that down above anything else. Teeth-grittingly tense and with chilling atmosphere, they play the appropriate soundtrack for a bombed-out, water-damaged Brooklyn basement with one bulb for light. PITCHFORK

FRED RETURNS TO CANADIAN SOIL! Will Launch New Single “SKYSCRAPERS” In July!
“…there’s no resisting this stuff unless you are tone-deaf! Blissed out…down and out funky…FRED we love you! – NME
“Fred are a five piece from Cork City, Ireland, who take the anguish and pain out of rock’n’roll, opting instead to just be…good!”Like Sly & The Family Stone in a swordfight with the Flaming Lips” – The Irish Times

The first week of July also sees Sparks Music launch FRED’s new single ‘Skyscrapers’ to Canadian pop radio. The track is from the band’s GO GOD GO CD which was launched in Canada this past spring.

Do note all shows are first come first-served. Please visit http://musicfestnw.com/tix for details on performers and where to purchase passes.
MFNW continues its tradition of supporting diverse genres that will appeal to every music fan. It’s also a great opportunity to visit one of the best cities in America.
On the heels of the most successful MFNW to date, MFNW 2009 launches with nothing but the hope of a bigger and better festival. MFNW’s ultimate aim is to provide Portland with a unique and special musical experience that features all types of acts including nationally renowned artists while still honoring and supporting the special musical scene of the Northwest.
Seattle’s KEXP radio will broadcast live from Portland at The Doug Fir Lounge September 17-18 during MFNW, with live performances from artists playing the festival. Listener-powered and community supported, KEXP not only serves Seattle but also has a large loyal listener base in Portland and around the world who tune into WWW.KEXP.ORG through online streaming.
Last year, MFNW 2008 national talent roster boasted acts such TV on The Radio, Vampire Weekend, Deerhunter, Dan Deacon, M Ward, Mogwai, The Fuck Buttons and so many more. MFNW also saw a double in attendance last year and brought in more community partnerships than ever before. The last eight years of the annual September festival have unquestionably met that goal, as MFNW has become synonymous with the region’s best music, while experiencing 25-30% growth in attendance.
How MFNW came to be one of Portland’s biggest music festivals began with the departure of the North By Northwest music festival (NXNW), in 2000. Willamette Week, Portland’s alternative weekly and longtime co-producer of NXNW, teamed up with members of the local and regional music scene to create a new music festival in 2001: MFNW.
