OUTSIDE MUSIC ARTIST PAUL AUCOIN (THE HYLOZOISTS) SCORES NEW YORK TELEVISION FESTIVAL AWARD
Toronto – A web series theme song composed by Paul Aucoin (The Hylozoists) received special recognition at the fifth annual New York Television Festival held this past weekend. Aucoin’s composition for MY PAL SATAN (lyrics by Dennis Heaton) won Best Theme Song while the show itself won for Best Web Pilot.
The NYTVF was founded in 2005 as the industry’s first recognized independent television festival, providing a platform to elevate the work of artists creating for the small screen. Held annually in New York City, the birthplace of modern television, the Festival unites artists, executives, industry figures, and fans together in one forum to celebrate the medium and to help shape its future.
Created by Dennis Heaton and produced under the pilot production program of the Canadian Film Centre, MY PAL SATAN is a web-based sitcom about Donna, a mortal 26-year-old straight-arrow sharing an apartment with the Prince of Darkness. The complete series can be viewed online at http://www.mypalsatan.com.
A prolific and creative musician-composer-arranger-engineer-producer, Aucoin is the A-list vibraphonist and go-to collaborator for the most respected artists in Canada’s alternative music scene. He is managed by Outside Music Management while the latest release from his band The Hylozoists, the dark and enchanting L’Île de Sept Villes, was released earlier this year on the Outside Music label. Aucoin’s previous short film scores have screened at Sundance and the Toronto International Film Festival.
