FUN.’s AIM AND IGNITE DEBUTS AT #71 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP 200 BAND RECEIVES AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FROM CRITICS AND FANS ALIKE

“[fun.] debut with expansive pop numbers that make you bounce without even trying…a great album to hold onto the end of summer.”
– Entertainment Weekly “Must List”

AIM AND IGNITE (Nettwerk), the debut album from Nate Ruess (The Format), Andrew Dost (Anathallo) and Jack Antonoff (Steel Train)—who are fun., breaks onto the Billboard Top 200 today at #71 with over 8,000 albums sold in its first week. Additionally, the album debuted at #46 on the CMJ Top 200.

This irresistible collection of freewheeling pop songcraft has been met with an extraordinary amount of excitement from both new and old fans of these three remarkably talented musicians. The tremendous amount of online exchange has brought the band’s MySpace page to over 1 million plays in just over a month. fun. will embark on their first national headlining tour of North America beginning September 8th in Salt Lake City, UT.

MEMBERS OF UK GROUP THE CHAP RELEASE NEW PROJECT OMO THE WHITE ALBUM INVITE YOU TO HAVE A “TEA BREAK,” AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD

UK label Lo Alternative Frequencies (LOAF) is delighted to announce the US release of a new project featuring members of UK group The Chap (Ghostly International), called Omo. With the release of Omo’s debut, The White Album, the band and label are offering a free mp3 download of the song “Tea Break.”

Omo is a new band comprised of pan-European rockers The Chap’s keyboardist Berit Immig and visual artist, David Muth, both previously members of London based band Karamasov (Satellite Records). Together they make pop that delights and surprises, eminently hummable and chewable, it’s post pop pop for the now generation. The band’s debut, The White Album, will see a proper US release on Sept. 22nd. The White Album is an album full of spiky little pop gems. A little like Laurie Anderson jamming with the Tom Tom Club, or a collaboration of Laurie Anderson and Young Marble Giants, mixed by Ricardo Villalobos, occasionally joined by Enoch Light on vibes and Raymond Scott on synthesiser. This is a surefire chart hit in a parallel universe where all TV programmes are made by David Lynch and every household owns a hover car.

If you’re looking for music with depth and character, that is fun and wants to get to know you, meet Omo.

The White Album Track listing:
1. Live Show
2. 2PM
3. ROV

5. König

9. Hairy Bastard

ROSANNE CASH TO RELEASE BRAND-NEW ALBUM, THE LIST, ON MANHATTAN RECORDS ON OCTOBER 6TH, 2009 ALBUM FEATURES CASH’S CONTEMPORARY INTERPRETATIONS OF
SONGS FROM A LIST OF ESSENTIAL COUNTRY SONGS PASSED ON TO HER BY HER LEGENDARY FATHER SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDE ELVIS COSTELLO, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, JEFF TWEEDY, RUFUS WAINWRIGHT

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash will release her 12th studio album, entitled The List, on Manhattan Records on October 6th, 2009. This stunning work features Cash’s contemporary interpretations of 12 classic songs culled from a list of essential country tunes that her legendary father Johnny gave her in 1973, and filtered through her own unique, sophisticated perspective.

Known primarily for her stellar songwriting, Cash showcases her incredible voice on The List — her first-ever covers record. As a result, the album is Rosanne Cash like you’ve never heard her before as she embraces her heritage and sings for the pure love and beauty of these songs which have shaped who she is as an artist.

The idea for The List came about while Cash was on tour promoting her 2006 studio album, the critically heralded, Grammy-nominated Black Cadillac — a reflective song cycle about the loss of her father, mother Vivian Liberto, and stepmother June Carter Cash. During the well-received multi-media event Black Cadillac: In Concert, Cash told audiences how, when she was 18, her father became alarmed that his daughter appeared to lack a deep understanding of country music (having been obsessed with The Beatles and steeped in Southern California rock and pop music). Johnny gave her a list of the “100 Essential Country Songs” and told her that it was her education and she should learn them all.

“The list was far-ranging and thorough,” Cash says. “It was assembled from my father’s intuitive understanding of each critical juncture in the evolution of country music. There were old Appalachian folk ballads, and the songs of Jimmie Rodgers and Woody Guthrie. The influence of gospel and Southern blues were crucial. Then he segued into rockabilly and the birth of modern country music by way of Hank Williams, and up to the present, which was then 1973. He also included a couple of his own songs. I endeavored to learn them all and it was an education,” she says. “I looked to that list as a standard of excellence, and to remind myself of the tradition from which I come. This album enables me to validate the connection to my heritage rather than run away from it, and to tie all the threads together: past and future, legacy and youth, tradition the timelessness.”

Through her stylish interpretations, Cash manages to transcend genre on The List, proving that these songs deserve a permanent place in the American Songbook. Produced and arranged by Grammy-Award winner John Leventhal (Cash’s husband, who also contributes striking guitar work throughout), The List includes Cash’s covers of songs by The Carter Family (“Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow”), Hank Williams (“Take These Chains From My Heart”), Jimmie Rodgers (“Miss The Mississippi and You”), Hank Cochran/Patsy Cline (“She’s Got You”), Merle Haggard (“Silver Wings”), and Bob Dylan (“Girl From the North Country,” famously done by Dylan and Johnny Cash in 1969). The album also features a host of special guests whom Cash admires, including Bruce Springsteen (on “Sea of Heartbreak”), Elvis Costello (on “Heartaches by the Number”), Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy (on “Long Black Veil”), and Rufus Wainwright (on “Silver Wings”).

The List is the first album Cash has made since she underwent surgery in 2007 for a benign brain condition, from which she has fully recovered. When it came time to record a new album, Cash was happy to step back from the heavy themes of Black Cadillac and do a covers record that showcased her voice. It also has enabled her to finally share with the world the list of songs her father passed down to her alone.

“If my father had been a martial arts master, he might have passed a martial arts ‘secret’ on to me, his oldest child,” Cash says. “If he had been a surgeon, he might have taken me into his operating room and pointed out the arteries and organs. If he were a robber baron, he might have surveyed his empire and said, ‘Honey, some day this will all be yours!’. But he was a musician and a songwriter, and he gave me The List.”

The track-listing for The List is as follows:
1. “Miss the Mississippi and You”
2. “Motherless Children”
3. “Sea of Heartbreak” (w/ Bruce Springsteen)
4. “Take These Chains From My Heart”
5. “I’m Movin’ On”
6. “She’s Got You”
7. “Heartaches by the Number” (w/ Elvis Costello)
8. “500 Miles”
9. “Long Black Veil” (w/ Jeff Tweedy)
10. “Silver Wings” (w/ Rufus Wainwright)
11. “Girl From the North Country”
12. “Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow”

Those stations have included KEXP (Seattle and NY), The Current (Twin Cities, MN), KUSF (San Francisco) and KXLU (Los Angeles), among others. In previous years the campaign hosted shows featuring top indie talent in Urban Outfitters stores across the U.S. Partner bands have included Sonic Youth, No Age, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr., King Khan, !!!, Dan Deacon, Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer and others. In addition to generating awareness and support through the free station-hosted concerts, participating radio stations were also given the opportunity to award a brand new Toyota Yaris to a listener to help boost fundraising or listener appreciation efforts.

“Toyota and Free Yr Radio are proud to be a part of the vibrancy and energy of the music festivals and the ongoing support of indie radio stations and their fans,” said Keith Dahl, Toyota National Manager of Engagement Marketing. “This year we are going beyond the walls of intimate venues and broadcasting these interviews and performances to everyone.”

3 INCHES OF BLOOD PREPARE TO RELEASE “HERE WAITS THY DOOM” ON SEPTEMBER 8TH BAND CURRENTLY SHOOTING VIDEO FOR “BATTLES AND BROTHERHOOD” SINGLE

Born out of a love for pure metal, weaned on a diet of fantasy and mythology, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD have been slaying the infidel for nearly a decade. In that time, they’ve released three albums and splattered the ground with crimson streaks while on tour with such acclaimed acts as Satyricon, The Black Dahlia Murder, Motorhead and Cradle of Filth, just to name a few. These are mighty accomplishments for dedicated warriors from Vancouver, British Columbia, a region that’s not exactly the Camelot of heavy metal. With their last album, Fire Up the Blades, they have surpassed even their own manly exploits, crafting a number of undeniable anthems that crash, rip and roar like a Medieval skirmish.

The world is eagerly awaiting the triumphant return of one of the biggest defenders of traditional heavy metal, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, and after one listen to the new album’s vicious lead-off cut, “Battles and Brotherhood,” it is very evident that the band has crafted the definitive offering of their already much heralded career. Head over now to www.myspace.com/3iob to stream the new track. The group is in the process of shooting a video for this song in the coming weeks that will be produced and directed by the acclaimed Rick Podd, who has worked on such movies as The Watcher & Hellraiser. Photos of the shoot have been posted online at www.myspace.com/3iob, so head over now to check out the intense battle scenes for yourself.

3 INCHES OF BLOOD will be performing a very special headlining, one-off CD release show at The Knitting Factory in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, so if you are in the Southern California area, you don’t want to miss out on this one. Also, look for the band touring throughout North America all this fall with In Flames, Between The Buried and Me and The Faceless. Either see below or visit www.myspace.com/3iob to view their complete itinerary. Here Waits Thy Doom will set the new standard for heavy metal, so be sure to mark your calendars as this monumental offering is set for a Sept. 8th release.

ODERUS URUNGUS TO APPEAR AS PANELIST FOR ENTIRE EPISODE OF FOX NEWS’ “RED EYE” WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND AT 3 AM EST ODERUS TO APPEAR ON OPIE AND ANTHONY SHOW ON SIRIUS-XM THURSDAY MORNING SEPTEMBER 3RD

This just in from Slave Pit Headquarters! The world’s first and only “Intergalactic Correspondent”, the ever-affable Oderus Urungus, will make his sixth and most memorable appearance on Fox News “Red Eye”, hosted by Greg Gutfeld. His prior five appearances have went so well in fact that “Red Eye” has given Oderus the opportunity to have more airtime by being a member of the panel for an entire show.

Mr. Urungus had the following to say about this recent development:

“The media juggernaut that is the mighty GWAR marches relentlessly forward! I, ODERUS URUNGUS, shall be appearing on FOX News Red Eye for the 6th freaking time, on Wednesday, Sep. 2nd! And what’s even better–I shall be on the show for the entire hour-long episode, or until I eat the other guests, whatever comes first. And they say FOX is a conservative network…if it took a conservative network to get Oderus on TV then I say we need more conservative networks!”

The media onslaught continues as Oderus stops by the Sirius-XM studios to make an appearance on the Opie and Anthony Show Thursday morning at 9:00 am.

The Opie and Anthony show is a national radio show, which has been previously syndicated to dozens of markets on terrestrial, which is now exclusive to Sirius XM Satellite Radio Jay Leno has called the O&A show “The Greatest Show in the HISTORY of Satellite Radio.

Oderus had this to say about his upcoming appearance on Opie and Anthony:

“I am pleased as pickled puke to finally be on the Opie and Anthony show, and I am reasonably sure that my reputation as a semi-nudist and penchant for public sex had something to do with it. Here’s looking forward to getting them kicked off the air for the second time! Hail GWAR!

“Lust in Space” debuted at # 96 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and is in stores now!

You Say Party! We Say Die! Tour Canada in Support of New Album XXXX

You Say Party! We Say Die! Tour Canada in Support of New Album XXXX

Toronto — British Columbia’s You Say Party! We Say Die! are hitting the road this fall in support of their brilliant new album XXXX (Paper Bag Records). The seven week tour begins in Vancouver on October 2nd and travels from coast to coast taking in a total of 29 dates. The band has reinvented themselves with their spirited style of New-Wave, and a new depth of material for their much-anticipated third release. XXXX will be in stores on September 29th.

Collaborating with producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan And Sara, The New Pornographers) XXXX embraces soul, feeling, and rhythm while still bearing the tenets of their original sound, which caused critics around the globe to embrace the band’s first two albums, Hit the Floor! and Lose All Time.

After years of touring, hundreds of shows worldwide, and countless van hours together, patience has become a virtue to lead singer Becky Ninkovic, bassist Stephen O’Shea, keyboardist Krista Loewen, guitarist Derek Adam and drummer Devon Clifford. In late 2007, during a sixteen-week fall/winter tour of Canada and Europe, the band had reached a breaking point. It happened during a physical confrontation at the legendary “Rock And Roll Herberge” in Berlin, ending with Ninkovic being thrown into the street by two beefy German punk rockers.

Road-weary and listless, the group was desperate for new inspiration. This came in the spring of 2008 when they were offered the opportunity to tour China and Japan for the first time. The group’s experience in Asia brought them closer together than they had ever been, and a new motivation to love each other and “do whatever it takes” was found. Thus, the seed of XXXX had sprouted within the You Say Party family. Members began paying attention to their personal lives again, pursuing artistic endeavors and meaningful employment. They provided supportive care for adults living with disabilities, aid to the poor in developing countries, and services for the homeless in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side and the message was put forth that “the loving is the everything.”

GENITORTURERS TAKING THE REVOLUTION TO THE STREETS WITH BRAND NEW ALBUM “BLACKHEART REVOLUTION” IN STORES NOVEMBER 3RD FALL TOUR KICKS OFF OCTOBER 24TH IN ORLANDO, FL

From the band whose dark, enchanting and aggressive style has provocatively entertained the world for over a decade comes a brand new chapter. From the smoldering ashes of Sin City comes the demand for REVOLUTION! …arguably the GENITORTURERS best creation yet!

Lead villainess GEN and her TORTURERS spare no creative expense in putting together a powerful new CD that truly realizes the diverse thematic artistry that has earned the band a global “cult” following.

Blackheart Revolution combines the band’s signature genre-bending musical style of aggressive rock, mechanical metal and underground electric pop with all the twists and turns of a sonic roller coaster of seductive mayhem that the band has crafted over their now legendary career. Co-produced by Scott Humphrey (Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Ozzy), mixed by the masters at Chop Shop, this new release delivers exceptional songwriting and superior sound quality that is sure to deliver the intense aural fix the fans deserve. The GENITORTURERS, a band whose dark, enchanting and aggressive style has entertained the world for over a decade, now presents a new chapter in their ongoing book of provocation.

Gen describes the bands new highly anticipated album release as genre defying. “Beholden to no one other than ourselves…we went back to our roots, to what inspired us to play music…and based on the eclectic nature of each of our musical tastes these roots ran deep and wide.”

Years in the making, this precedent setting album surely is GENITORTURERS most powerful creation and is set to be a “must own” instant classic!
