SLAYER ANNOUNCES WORLD PAINTED BLOOD CONFIRMED RELEASE DATE, TRACK LISTING, AND BRAND-NEW WEBSITE
The mighty Slayer has confirmed a release date for the band’s 10th studio album: World Painted Blood will be released on Tuesday, November 3 in North America, and on Monday, November 2 to the rest of the world. In addition, Slayer has revealed the complete and correct track listing for the album that can be found on the band’s newly-designed, just-launched website: www.slayer.net
“As we’re so excited about World Painted Blood,” said the band’s Dave Lombardo, “we wanted to do something special for the packaging, and have been working with some really cool ideas. They’ve taken time to get just right, and with our headlining the Mayhem tour for most of the summer, it’s just taken that much longer to get all these great ideas exactly the way we want them.”
There will be three different editions of World Painted Blood – a limited edition CD with multiple CD covers, a deluxe edition CD/DVD, and a high-quality, 180-gram vinyl edition; specifics for all editions will be detailed shortly.
“We hope our fans will like everything about World Painted Blood as much as we do,” Lombardo continued. “Recording this new album has been one of the greatest experiences we’ve had as a band. We were together during the writing process more than we had been for past albums, we worked more collectively, everyone’s suggestions and ideas were heard and considered, and that camaraderie is definitely heard in the new album.
“Keep checking our new website as that’s where everything will be announced first.”
The comedy metal band Psychostick will be hitting the road in November for a week of dates with Mower followed by a three-week solo stint of the Midwest and east coast. The bands latest album, Sandwich, has not yet been certified platinum – just awesome.
In case you missed the “humorcore” band on their Sandwich CD Release Party Tour, you can watch their end-of-tour video homage to Jägermeister on www.metalinjection.net. The band has been officially sponsored by the nectar since spring 2008.

To listen to Blacklist is to listen to people who have chosen to stand in opposition. Complex and modern themes are wound tightly inside impressionistic lyrics, available to be unravelled by the curious listener or ignored by those who find themselves moved primarily by the force of the music. The band’s debut LP, Midnight Of The Century, is raw ambition mixed with raw power. Mixed by Ed Buller (Suede, Slowdive, Pulp, White Lies) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Muse, Jeff Buckley, Iron Maiden, U2, Nirvana), it is a potent dose of rock and roll maximalism.
When the revolutionary Victor Serge coined the idea of a midnight in the century, he was referring to the dark pact between two of the cruelest tyrants the world had ever seen. And yet Serge is perhaps best known for his rambunctious, stubborn attitude in the face of such darkness: “the course is set on hope,” he wrote. It is precisely this marriage of extremity to romantic optimism that characterizes Midnight Of The Century — not just in the realm of ideas, but musically as well. Despite its density of sound and shadowy atmospheres, the record is the soundtrack to an uplifting journey that is as personal as it is universal. It is also a fitting manifesto announcing the arrival of Blacklist.
Hailing from Brooklyn, Blacklist is one of the flagship bands of painter Pieter Schoolwerth’s Wierd Records imprint. The band creates atmospheric modern rock music that has been described as anthemic, darkly romantic, and “a much-needed anomaly” (Other Music) in NYC’s music scene. They are sometimes classified as part of the post-punk revival, though the sound is generally more dense, sonically incorporating elements of shoegaze and heavy metal with coldwave. The members often cite influences like My Bloody Valentine, Motörhead and Black Sabbath alongside bands like The Comsat Angels, Wire, Killing Joke, and The Sound.
“In a way it’s a little bit schizophrenic, well, not schizophrenic, but dual. We enjoy listening to metal and playing metal-ish kind of stuff, but at the same time we are also listening to the post-punk bands and our performance incorporates both as well as many other elements” is how singer/guitarist Josh Strawn describes it. Drummer Glenn Maryansky continues, “I tell people live we are like the Lively Art bands were – sort of in-between Ride and The Cure’s Faith. We feel a connection to the French Wave scene. We love that over-the-top production that the metal bands have but also the sophisticated spirit of Joy Division and early Cure stuff. There’s denseness and this druggie quality to it but also this smartness and attention to detail”.
That attention to detail is part of what has brought critical acclaim to Blacklist’s live show. Metromix, who cites the bands as a MUST SEE during this week’s CMJ says: “after hearing the shimmering guitars, crisp drums and dramatic, Goth-y vocal tics of Josh Strawn on the band’s new single “Flight of the Demoiselles,” you might be tempted to break out the Cult’s old “Love” album—or anything by Bauhaus”
Blacklist are not to be missed live. For all media inquires, guest lists, cds, interviews please contact Magnum PR.
“equal parts pornography, poetry, post-punk and politics” – The Big Takeover
“enough honest blood, sweat and tears on each of the eleven tracks to attract a solid following from the most jaded of music fans out there.” – Fazer
“Blacklist is simultaneously celebratory and melancholy… they create the soundtrack to an explosive resistance” – RCRD LBL
“a superbly impressive debut record” – Consequence of Sound

MIDLAKE SET TO RELEASE AMBITIOUS, ENGROSSING NEW ALBUM ‘THE COURAGE OF OTHERS’ – THEIR FIRST IN OVER THREE YEARS – ON FEB 2 VIA BELLA UNION
FIRST US TOUR DATES SINCE 2007 ANNOUNCED
On Feb 2, 2010 Bella Union will release the eagerly anticipated new Midlake album ‘The Courage of Others,’ the follow-up to the group’s 2006 breakout ‘The Trials of Van Occupanther.’ The eleven original songs on ‘Courage’ were written by Tim Smith and produced by Midlake at their new custom-built studio in Denton, TX. The band’s lineup remains: singer Tim Smith, Paul Alexander on bass, drummer McKenzie Smith, and guitarists Eric Pulido and Eric Nichelson.
‘Courage’ builds on the complex textures that made ‘Van Occupanther’ a touchstone, revealing breathtaking soundscapes and bygone eras. Equal parts intimate and epic, the album evokes a cloistered world of its own with dreamlike melodies, stunning vocal harmonies and ambitious arrangements.
Midlake took a two year break from the road to focus on the new album, but will tour extensively in 2010, with an initial string of dates and a return to SXSW – genesis of the ‘Van Occupanther’ groundswell in 2006 – already confirmed.
Reviewing one of their last U.S. shows in 2007, SPIN Magazine observed that the new song “Children of Grounds,” which appears on ‘Courage,’ “pointed toward further ascension,” with “brooding atmospherics and guitar-face rockin’.”
“Out of step with anything else released in 2006” (Pitchfork), ‘The Trials of Van Occupanther’ proved to be a critical and artistic bellwether with Feist, Sufjan Stevens, and Andrew Bird among others, praising the album in interviews. “I wish more groups were this ambitious,” Bird told Rolling Stone.
‘The Courage of Others’ tracklist:
Acts of Man Winter Dies Small Mountain Core of Nature Fortune Rulers, Ruling All Things Children of the Grounds Bring Down The Horn The Courage of Others In The Ground

Last Rites Tattoo Theatre presents its first ever Creep-In Day on Halloween!
Saturday, October 31st, 12pm-12am at Last Rites Tattoo Theatre, 511 W. 33rd Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues (3 blocks from Penn Station), 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001. Find more information at www.DarkImages.com.
(New York, NY) Last Rites Tattoo Theatre is celebrating the Halloween season by showing a return of support to all Last Rites friends, family and fans. With their first ever Creep-In Day, dedicated fans and collectors receive a rare opportunity to be tattooed spontaneously without an appointment at the infamous Last Rites Tattoo Theatre… and on Halloween to boot! Along with Paul Booth himself, the Last Rites family of masterful artists will take in the haunting energy of Halloween, Last Rites style, and produce stunning tattoo art on a first-come-first-serve basis! Paul will even be venturing out from his private lair and tattooing in the family crypt making the day an awesome “meet&greet” opportunity for Fans and Clients alike! In addition to this overdose of high energy freehand tattooing from 12 to 12, the day includes visual stimuli such as live painting sessions featuring Esao Andrews, Vincent Castiglia, Fred Harper, Dan Quintana, David Stoupakis, and Genevive Zacconi. ArtFusion Experiment collaborative painting performances by notable Tattoo Artists such as Paul Acker, Goethe, Juan Selgado, Jesse Smith, and more! An ArtFusion canvas will be open for the public to paint as well! The Film Chapel will be rolling Paul’s personal Horror movie picks continuously day and night. And of course, costumes are welcome and encouraged! And last but not least, the day will end at 11:59pm followed by a traditional Last Rites “Kool-Aid” Toast to bring in the Witching Hour.
Please read on for special details… Paul Booth and Crew will be following normal protocol used for conventions and touring. This means one-sitting freehand style work with an approx. 3 hour time limit on a piece. If you are looking to start a multiple sitting project such as a sleeve or backpiece, then this is not a day for such. Our best advice to you is to give our accomplished artists your theme and trust them with the artistic freedom to run with it for you. 3 hours can get a good sized piece done so don’t let the time issue concern you. We do this to be fair to everyone that desires Last Rites Art. We also suggest getting here earlier than opening time if you are really serious about getting work. The doors will open at 12 noon and anyone behaving overly aggressive, intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will not be tolerated. This event will be filmed for an upcoming Last Rites DVD so costumes are encouraged but not mandatory!
· Meet and Greet the artists and fellow clients all day and night
· Crazy Performers will be unearthing themselves throughout the day for everyone’s twisted amusement.
· Food, Drink and visual stimuli all day long… No Cover! Costumes Welcome!
“We want to show our fans our true appreciation for their support, by allowing them the opportunity to avoid the waiting list… and get tattooed convention style. I have been spending quite a bit of time here at home focusing on my larger projects and I find myself occasionally missing the road. Now I can sort of go on tour without leaving home and get a good dose of that convention energy I have come to know so well. I have always liked the idea of bringing our fans together to meet each other as they have always shown a strong like-mindedness. This is why I want to make it a meet & greet day as well.”

“Quest For Fire is without a doubt one of 2009’s most impressive debuts to date. THIS is the kinda guit-psych your mama warned you about, kids. Get damaged.” – Blurt
You would think that playing in bands for a decade, and touring constantly in shitty vans, might instill the desire to make your new project a lucrative one. This however, hasn’t crossed the minds of the four members of Toronto’s Quest For Fire. The sonic assault that these guys unleash onto unsuspecting listeners in a live setting, through their sometimes 10+ minute journeys is pure power. A contemporary take on classic rock and psychedelia.
The band, made up of Andrew Moszynski (guitar), Chad Ross (guitar, vocals), Mike Maxymuik (drums), and Josh Bauman (bass), spent a little over a year holed up in a tiny practice space near Toronto’s lakeshore, refining their vision and obsessing over their common love of all things strange.
Upon the inevitable demise of Canada’s most beloved garage rock underdogs, The Deadly Snakes (In the Red Records), of which Andrew and Chad were core members, Quest For Fire began to prepare for their great unveiling before Toronto’s wary rock scene. On a hot August night in 2007, the band made their first appearance at ‘The Boat’, one of Toronto’s most cherished dive bars located in Kensington Market. They quickly became the city’s most sought-after new band. Show offers came flooding in to open for acts such as Black Mountain, Ladyhawk, Mudhoney, Earthless, Howlin Rain, Witch and more. As their old bands burned out, QFF took off. The Deadly Snakes faded with time and Mike’s tenure with Canadian metal/hardcore heads Cursed came to an abrupt end. One year after the release of their debut album on Montreal’s Storyboard label, QFF is stoked to announce that they have been picked up by New York’s Tee Pee Records. Their self titled debut will now be available in the U.S./Europe in June of 2009.
Quest For Fire Tracklisting: 1. Bison Eyes 2. Strange Waves 3. Hawk That Hunts The Walking 4. I’ve Been Trying To Leave 5. You Are Always Loved 6. Next To The Fire
