WATCH ROSANNE CASH PERFORMING ON CBS’S THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON ON DECEMBER 8th ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER’S LATEST —THE LIST — IS ONE OF THE MOST CRITICALLY EMBRACED ALBUMS OF THE YEAR

As critics begin to compile their annual Top 10 year-end round-ups, The List — the stunning covers collection from acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash — is emerging as one of the best reviewed albums of 2009. Called everything from “superb” and “exquisite” to “an object lesson in inheritance,” The List has earned widespread praise from media outlets across the country, including NPR Music, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, the Associated Press, USA Today, Time, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, People, the Los Angeles Times, Billboard, Elle, Paste, Relix, American Songwriter, and the San Francisco Chronicle. The album, which debuted Top 5 on the Country chart, has also hit No. 1 on the Americana Airplay Top 10 chart.

Having already performed on NBC’s The Today Show and CBS’s The Late Show With David Letterman, and been featured on ABC’s highly rated prime-time TV special “In The Spotlight With Robin Roberts: Bright Lights. Big Stars. All Access Nashville,” Cash will perform on CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on December 8th.

She will also follow up previous radio appearances on NPR’s “Fresh Air” and “Morning Edition,” American Public Media’s “A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor,” and KCRW’s signature daily music program “Morning Becomes Eclectic” by appearing on Don Imus’ syndicated radio and television program “Imus In The Morning” on December 1st. In addition, New York’s WFUV, Fordham University’s public radio station, has declared December 1st “Rosanne Cash Day,” and will devote their programming exclusively to her music. Cash was featured on NPR’s “The Legacy of The List — A World Cafe Thanksgiving Special with Rosanne Cash” over the holiday.

Check out what the critics have been saying about The List:

“These 12 covers are—by definition and necessity—timeless, and Cash’s performances give them room to breathe and shine.”

—NPR MUSIC

“…an object lesson in inheritance… Ms. Cash has a voice both dark and sweet, with a gentle but reliable vibrato, and she knows how to convey the quiet sting of heartache.”

—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“The disc showcases some of the best singing in Cash’s career.”

—ASSOCIATED PRESS

“How can one not get excited to hear Cash wrap that gorgeous, throaty alto around elite, time-tested material handpicked by the legendary Man in Black?”

—USA TODAY

“…sublime renderings of tunes her dad considered essential American gems. Cash not only infuses love into her delivery on the collection but also proves herself a supreme song stylist.”

—BILLBOARD

“Long revered as a master songwriter, Rosanne is equally talented at reinterpretation, singing with such close-to-the-bone sincerity that you can’t help but think: like father, like daughter.”

—ELLE

“This is very much Cash’s show… ‘The List’ is a testament to both Cash Jr.’s vocal talents and Cash Sr.’s catholic taste.”

—ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“Cash makes a loving tribute that honors tradition and gives these tunes her own spin.”

—PEOPLE MAGAZINE

“She brings the wistful mood that’s infused much of her own writing to the material… spare yet elegant.”

—LOS ANGELES TIMES

“Although she’s a gifted songwriter, ‘The List’ is Cash’s first record of covers, and it’s exquisite.”

—SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

“At it’s core, country music is about life as it’s lived, not Hallmarked from complacency. In reaching into her past, Cash troubles the water and makes peace with who she is at her genetic core. To service it so faithfully is a marvel; to hear The List is a wonder.’” — AMERICAN SONGWRITER

Saving Abel To Cut Short Current Tour Plans Due To Recent Illness

SAVING ABEL ANNOUNCE PLANS TO CUT TOURING SHORT AS A PRECAUTIONARY MOVE FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF SINGER JARED WEEKS

SCHEDULED APPEARANCES IN NASHVILLE AND MEMPHIS WILL GO ON AS PLANNED IN DECEMBER

November 30, 2009 – Corinth, MS — Platinum certified rock band Saving Abel have announced they will be cutting the Class of 2009 tour short, removing the final week of dates from the group’s itinerary. Saving Abel was forced to cancel three recent appearances in Michigan due to the hospitalization of front man Jared Weeks. A nasty mix of diabetic shock and the flu parked the singer in the hospital for a number of days. The tour resumed in last Monday, but after one week of performances, the prudent decision to give Weeks the opportunity to have an insulin pump inserted in to his body immediately has been made.

The announced Class of 2009 shows from Orono, Maine on November 30 through Atlanta on December 8 are cancelled. The band will perform in Nashville on December 18 and Memphis on New Years Eve.

Saving Abel is the first act in over three years to have three top five rock hits off their debut release. The band’s debut singles” Addicted,” “18 Days,” and “Drowning (Face Down)” have delivered a massive fan base for the Corinth, MS. quintet. Saving Abel’s biggest hit “Addicted,” was a #1 rock hit, crossed over to peak at #7 on Billboard’s Top 40 Airplay Chart and also sold over a million downloads.

ROCK PLAZA CENTRAL ANNOUNCES NEW NOVEL, HIBERNATES FOR THE WINTER

ROCK PLAZA CENTRAL ANNOUNCES NEW NOVEL, HIBERNATES FOR THE WINTER

Chris Eaton, frontman and principle songwriter of Rock Plaza Central, has announced that the band is currently on a break from touring so he can concentrate on finishing his third novel before the arrival of his other project, an as-yet-unnamed-and-unborn baby.

While perhaps best known for his work with the band, including this year’s critically-acclaimed At the Moment of Our Most Needing…, and 2006’s breakthrough Are We Not Horses?, Chris Eaton is also the author of The Inactivist (2003) and The Grammar Architect (2005). Despite his relatively young age, his work has been studied on three university courses in North America, and papers on both The Inactivist and RPC’s Are We Not Horses? (2006) were delivered at this year’s Midwest Modern Language Annual Conference in St Louis.

After completing a near sold-out tour of the eastern United States with The Weakerthans in September, Eaton decided he’d been putting this third novel off for too long. “I actually started the book while I was living in Panama four years ago, right before recording Are We Not Horses?, and then immediately got caught up in all these requests for us to come tour. But being on the road can be horrible on the kind of writing that I do, where I need my complete focus at all times.”

The new novel, tentatively titled Chris Eaton: a Biography (a novel by Chris Eaton), is about twenty-five different people who all share the author’s name, based on other real Chris Eaton’s around the world he’s been painstakingly researching. The twenty five characters never meet, and the book instead relies on coincidence and the biographical form to create a story about identity and how we see each other and ourselves. The stories begin to blur into each other with the idea that, in the end, we are all living the same life, dealing with the same hopes and fears. And even when we are ostensibly talking about other people, we are still just talking about ourselves.

A section from the upcoming Chris Eaton: a Biography can be found on the Joyland website:
http://www.joyland.ca/stories/toronto/chris_eaton_a_biography

Created by writers Emily Schultz and Brian Joseph Davis, Joyland: a hub for short fiction has been called “the go-to spot for readers seeking the best voices in short fiction.” Operating out of San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York and Vancouver, they have also recently published works by Jonathan Lethem (winner of the 1999 National Book Critics Circle Award), Lydia Millet (winner of the 2003 PEN-USA Award for Fiction), and founding editor of The Believer, Ed Park.

Chris Eaton’s work has also recently been featured in Australia’s The Lifted Brow with Ben Greeman, Rick Moody, Daniel Handler and Brian Evenson, and Britain’s We Are The Friction with Spencer Krug and Carey Mercer. Rock Plaza Central will play one remaining show on Jan 23 in Toronto at The Garrison. Meanwhile a new video for “Handsome Men” should appear around the same time.

NORAH JONES ANNOUNCES 2010 U.S. TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF HER ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM THE FALL JONES TO PREMIERE REMIXES ON RCRD LBL, STEREOGUM & ARTIST DIRECT

NORAH JONES ANNOUNCES 2010 U.S. TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF HER ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM THE FALL JONES TO PREMIERE REMIXES ON RCRD LBL, STEREOGUM & ARTIST DIRECT

Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones has announced U.S. tour dates in support of her critically-acclaimed new album The Fall, which was released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17. The 36-city tour will kick off March 5, 2010. Please find all tour dates listed below. A select number of shows will go on sale beginning December 4, 2009. Full venue and ticketing information is available at http://www.norahjones.com/tour/.

Jones will also be premiering several remixes from The Fall this week. The three tracks will be featured on three different websites throughout the week. On December 1, RCRD LBL will present “That’s What I Said (The NYC Remix by Adrock and Mike D).” On December 2, Stereogum will present “Chasing Pirates (Santigold and Snotty Remix).” On December 3, Artist Direct will present “Chasing Pirates (Droogs Remix),” which was created by a remix collective that included Beck. The remixes will be released digitally and on vinyl on January 12, 2010.

“We decided to have people I admire do some remixes,” Jones recently told Entertainment Weekly. “[Adrock and Mike D of] Beasties Boys did one, and Beck, and Santigold.” Jones first collaborated with Beastie Boys during the 2008 presidential election when they recruited her for their Get Out The Vote concerts, which also included Santigold. Jones also appeared in the season finale of 30 Rock this past May along with Mike D and Adrock. Jones and Beck first met when they performed together on KCRW’s holiday concert in 2002.

The Fall finds Jones experimenting with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

CHECK OUT WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE FALL:

“Jones is standing tall on The Fall … A terrific batch of songs that smartly address her recent romantic travails.”

—USA Today

“Jones sounds more confident and stretches her songwriting muscle…Her continued growth as a writer, not just as singer, brings another exciting dimension to The Fall.”

—Associated Press

“Some of her most unguarded songs…Ms. Jones is making a new start.”

—NY Times

“The Fall has been billed as Norah Jones’ rock album. In fact, it’s something even more surprising: a hot-blooded soul record.”

—SPIN

“…avant-roots music that rocks.”

—Rolling Stone

“A voice made to jump genres: Supple, mellifluous, effortlessly sexy.”

—Entertainment Weekly

“Her voice, always sultry, finds new layers of sexiness.”

—People Magazine

“Norah Jones has moved on. Her imagination’s flying, whether it’s through those instinctive fingers… or the silken sensuality of her voice…”

—MOJO

“Out goes ‘Snorah’, in comes gothic blueswoman…The last vestiges of smoky jazz have been blown away. Instead, King has conjured a deliciously gothic blues…The Fall contains more than a few copper-bottomed classics: “Chasing Pirates,” a near-perfect two-and-half minute study of racing thoughts that get in the way of sleep, quivering with soft-rock sensuality.”

—Q

“The Fall… represents an evolution toward a new sound altogether… Jones maintains her jazzy, sultry sound while pushing into more contemporary pop territory… A warm, organic-sounding record, The Fall showcases Jones’ musical depth in exciting and unexpected ways, suitable for old fans and newcomers alike.”

—NPR Music

“Norah Jones could have kept recording iterations of Come Away With Me for decades. Clearly that’s not what she’s doing. The gradual shifts away from that oversize debut have worked so far, and The Fall is an even bigger step away, and a step up in what is still the beginning of a big career… what Jones has done with the new record is indeed another departure. Only this time she’s heading down a louder, dusted-up rock path.”

MUNICIPAL WASTE BASSIST LAND PHIL TAKES TO THE SKIES AT THE KEY CLUB IN LOS ANGELES CHECK OUT THE FOOTAGE EXCLUSIVELY AT METALSUCKS.NET

MUNICIPAL WASTE are currently out on the road on the “Waste the World Tour” and they have definitely had their share of interesting moments and experiences. This was once again the case Thursday November 19th at the Key Club in Los Angeles, CA.

The Key Club is the home of the band Steel Panther, and they have a rig that allows the bass player to fly over the crowd. Bassist Land Phil had known about this and he wanted to take to the skies. Here is what Phil had to say about the experience:

“We had seen a band called Steel Panther at the Key Club do this stunt before and since they play there every Monday I figured that they had the rig set up all the time. When we arrived at the venue I was right! After asking the stage manager if it was ok we began rehearsing the spot, I think I went up in the air about 3 times before the doors opened. When the show started I was looking at the set list counting down the songs getting more and more nervous about it, When I was hanging over the audience ( probably about 20 ft. in the air ) I remember thinking These WASTE fans are really getting their money’s worth eh? Ha ha! When I landed Dave clicked in sadistic magician and the rest was history!”

Check out the footage of the show exclusively on MetalSucks.net here

If you have not seen a MUNICIPAL WASTE show before, you never can know what to expect, so make sure you catch them our tour this fall/winter.

MVRemix managed to catch up with Winter Gloves when they passed through Vancouver on November 20th-21st 2009. The group took some time out of their busy schedule to talk to us about their music, the helping hand ITunes helped create and what their future recording plans are.
