LOAF RECORDINGS TO RELEASE YEAR-END DOMESTIC POP COMPILATION
In the five or so years that LOAF Recordings has been in existence, they’ve grown up. Since they first started providing ‘Luxury DIY’ to the masses through a multi award-winning marriage of the lo-fi sounds of breaking new musicians with the high-class aesthetics of some of the world’s most prominent image makers, LOAF has come a long way. Out of their infancy and through their adolescence, they’ve taken off our slippers and now they’re stepping out.
As 2009 comes to a close, LOAF would like to offer their appreciation for the support shown to their artists this year, among them, The Present (Rusty Santos), Dark Captain Light Captain, Omo (members of The Chap), Seeland (Broadcast/Plone), Vowels (James Rutledge), Pete Fowler and Susumu Yokota. With many more on the horizon for 2010, LOAF is now giving back (and ’tis the season after all) in the form of Domestic Pop (LOAF35), a 14-track compilation which focuses a spotlight over some like-minded artists that have caught the label’s attention over the years. They’ve hand-picked the most delicious blend of fruity flavors. Domestic Pop will be released in the US on November 30th, but you can download it for free at the link above – User: washing PW: machine.
Priding themselves on being what they call a ‘No Frills’ label – simple, artist-based presentation – LOAF has never taken the lime-light from it’s artists. Without vanity or fanfare, they’ve waited until the natural process of brewing a strong label aesthetic had infused to the point of pouring out a lovely mug of musical tea (with a slice of LOAF).
Taking note from experimental popsters such as Family Fodder, Bill Nelson and The Flying Lizards, LOAF strives to present a reconfigured outlook on Pop Music; sophisticated, full of humor and most importantly fun. That familiar DIY feeling but without the grotty warehouse vibe. This isn’t bedroom music, this is the whole house. Domestic Pop arise!
