SHADOW GALLERY PREMIERE “GOLD DUST” VIDEO-CLIP; ANNOUNCE LIVE SHOW

SHADOW GALLERY PREMIERE “GOLD DUST” VIDEO-CLIP; ANNOUNCE LIVE SHOW

American progressive metal giants SHADOW GALLERY are premiering their new video for “Gold Dust” (in its radio edit version) today on the InsideOut Music Youtube channel. The song comes from their new album Digital Ghosts, released October 26th, 2009 via InsideOutMusic in Europe, which features the line-up of Brendt Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp, Joe Nevolo and new addition Brian Ashland. The album shows the group focus their powerful energies on creating a seamless blend of progressive, metal, and symphonic rock. The clip includes both live and location footage and features a cameo by Will Smith Sr. father of movie actor Will Smith. The video, which was filmed by Rick Berk and directed by SHADOW GALLERY bassist Carl Cadden-James, marked an ambitious step into exciting uncharted waters for the band and can be viewed here:

“We are very excited about having done this and are genuinely pleased with the results. We were surrounded by extremely talented people during production and had a blast doing it”, states Cadden-James. “The song ‘Gold Dust’ was the perfect vehicle for our first video and I think it’s nice to be able to introduce Brian as a vocalist visually beyond his vocal performance on the CD”.

The lyrical story is played out by model Heather Anthony and displays a very human side of the band that explores the emotional complexities of both desire and heartache and should resonate with almost anyone who has ever loved. SHADOW GALLERY has transitioned very comfortably from just an aural experience to the visual artistic expression that their music is so well suited.

This news comes on top of their announcement that SHADOW GALLERY will be performing live in concert on the 2010 Triton Power Cruise. It will be the first live performance for the band, where they will join the stage with Evergrey, Jon Oliva’s Pain and many more from April 30th – May 3rd, 2010. You can check out more information on the cruise here: www.tritonpowercruise.com

MUDVAYNE’S MATT “MjDawn” MCDONOUGH TAKES ATMOWORKS TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL BIG THINGS ON THE HORIZON FOR ELECTRONIC SIDE PROJECTS

Most people would think that being the drummer for a band as busy as MUDVAYNE, that they would not have much free time for other endeavors. This however is not the case with drummer Matt McDonough, with what little downtime he has, Matt alongside with his business partner John Strate-Hootman own and operate ATMOWORKS.COM.

ATMOWORKS.COM is a download fulfillment site that features an online store that sells music through Pay Pal. They release independent, “DIY” musicians that focus mainly on ambient music. Matt McDonough releases his music under his alter ego “MjDawn” and he has an additional side project with his partner John Strate-Hootman AKA“Vir Unis” called “miKroNaught”. Check out their music at the links below:

Matt McDonough AKA “MjDawn” had the following to say about ATMOWORKS.COM and his electronic side projects:

I have had a lifelong appreciation for experimental and electronic music. So working with “AtmoWorks” has been a great opportunity for me to explore my other musical interests. I’ve met and been able to facilitate other musicians’ pursuits. And also find a place to release my own solo and side projects under the alias “MjDawn” and “miKroNaught”.

MUDVAYNE’S latest self-titled release is available now in 3 formats and features revolutionary album artwork and packaging. Every single piece of art and text in the packaging is printed in ink that can only be seen with a black light. MUDVAYNE enlisted the help of the “King of Rock Tattoos” Paul Booth for the artwork and layout of the new album. Recently Paul held a listening party for the album at his “Last Rites” Studio in NYC.?

THE POSTELLES SET TO RELEASE THEIR NEW EP ‘WHITE NIGHT’ ON MARCH 2ND FEBRUARY NYC RESIDENCY AND SPRING TOUR WITH HOCKEY ANNOUNCED

THE POSTELLES SET TO RELEASE THEIR NEW EP ‘WHITE NIGHT’ ON MARCH 2ND FEBRUARY NYC RESIDENCY AND SPRING TOUR WITH HOCKEY ANNOUNCED

‘White Night’ Features Three New Songs With Production By The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr.

And An Exclusive Remix By Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor

NYC rock quartet The Postelles has announced plans to release a new 4-track EP ‘White Night’ (Astralwerks / Capitol) on March 2nd, 2010. ‘White Night’ will be available digitally and will include three brand new songs, “White Night,” “Sleep on the Dance Floor,” and “Looking Glass,” which were produced by The Strokes axeman Albert Hammond Jr and The Postelles. The digital EP also features an iTunes exclusive remix of “Sleep on the Dance Floor” by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor. The young NYC-based foursome, who are no strangers to downtown clubs, will play a three week residency at the Bowery Electric starting February 3rd before heading out with Hockey starting March 11th in Minneapolis, MN through April 10th in Portland, OR with an expected stop at this year’s South By Southwest Festival (full schedule below). They will also play a special benefit tribute to The Who on March 2nd at the prestigious Carnegie Hall.

The Postelles met in high school on NYC’s Upper West Side and have spent the last few years perfecting their hopelessly catchy rock grooves together. Citing influences from Motown to Woody Allen, they provide a modern take to the soundtrack of a 1950’s prom with a New York edge. According the Rolling Stone, “The Postelles channel Joe Jackson and Elvis Costello and – more recently – the Arctic Monkeys and the Strokes, building songs from brief guitar stabs and sounding like the wound-up early hours of what will be a long Saturday night on the town. There are elements of both mod and post-punk, but The Postelles have a sneering attitude all their own…” Entertainment Weekly describe the Postelles as having a “Sunny garage-bop sound,” while Spin has said, “they serve up a hooked-at-the-gills, head-bobbing rock’n’roll groove.”

The quartet has played major festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, SXSW, All Points West, Iceland’s Airwaves Festival and CMJ. They’ve recently played dates with Vampire Weekend, Yeasayer, and fanfarlo. The band is expected to announce another string of tour dates after the Hockey tour. Their self-titled full length CD will be released later this year. The Postelles consist of Daniel Balk (lead vocals, guitar), David Dargahi (lead guitar), John Speyer (bass) and Billy Cadden (drums).

DIRTY PROJECTORS ANNOUNCE ‘THE GETTY ADDRESS’ WITH ALARM WILL SOUND ORCHESTRA

DIRTY PROJECTORS ANNOUNCE ‘THE GETTY ADDRESS’ WITH ALARM WILL SOUND ORCHESTRA

On February 19th in New York and February 27th in Los Angeles, Dirty Projectors will present The Getty Address in full. They will be assisted by the 15-piece contemporary music ensemble Alarm Will Sound, conducted by Alan Pierson in an arrangement by Matt Marks. In addition, they will play a set of material from their most recent album, Bitte Orca.

The New York show will take place at the Lincoln Center as part of the acclaimed American Songbook series. Since it was launched in 1998, American Songbook at Lincoln Center has been dedicated to celebrating the achievements of American popular song from the turn of the 20th century to the present.

In Los Angeles, Dirty Projectors will co-headline the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The concert will be a collaborative endeavor: the first half of the program features the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing Philip Glass’ Prelude from Akhnaten and Maurice Ravel’s Suite from Mother Goose, chosen by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and David Longstreth of Dirty Projectors. The Getty Address will be presented during the second half of the program.

The New York show is sold out; tickets to the Los Angeles show at Disney Hall are still available.

Broad popular acclaim notwithstanding, The Getty Address is kind of like the 36 Chambers of indie rock, or at least of Dirty Projectors’ long, weird back catalog. Its unsettling mix of jokes, high concept and existential urgency plays out over heavy sequenced beats, choirs of women and orchestral arrangements that sound as if they’ve been sourced from a Jodorowsky film. The story it tells — roughly about a guy named Don Henley who falls in love with a girl named Sacagawea — is set in a bed of free association, arcane symbology, and hermetic self-reference. At the time of its release in 2005, it did not garner a great deal of attention, although it has acquired a small cult following in the intervening years.

One eskimO Hitting The Road In 2010! Will Play With Gomez In March; Tour Includes Coachella Appearance

“…catchy, ambient pop.” – Billboard

“This track (Kandi) had all the power of the songs of yore. It wasn’t about crafting a hit, but a track so in the pocket that your body turned into Gumby, you were bending in places where angles were never created, you were infected with sound, your only desire was to hear the song AGAIN! That’s the essence of music. “ – The Lefsetz Letter

“‘Kandi” is a beautiful, aspirational track…” – Los Angeles Times Magazine

British innovators One eskimO are taking their compelling blend of modern pop and acoustic folk to the United States, kicking off a two-month tour at New York’s City Winery on February 4 and culminating at California’s famed Coachella Festival on April 18. The band will share the stage throughout the month of March with fellow Brits Gomez. The tour will hit cities like New York, Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago and Denver before hitting Coachella.

One eskimO’s one-of-a-kind sound is matched only by their creativity, as they pioneered a “visual album” with “The Adventures of One eskimO,” a ten-part short-form animated series available on iTunes and Amazon starring One eskimO and following his adventures. British electro-pop trio Nedry announces US debut of album championed by BBC, Q Magazine, Uncut, XFM

British electro-pop trio Nedry announces US debut of album championed by BBC, Q Magazine, Uncut, XFM

“Gently skittering electronics and slow-building, spacious ambience – Nedry’s gorgeous, minimal soundscapes are tailor made for the wee hours.” — Q Magazine

“A futuristic sonic collage of dreamy glitch-folk, shimmering electronica and weapons-grade Dubstep percussion… Feels like a futuristic step forward from Radiohead’s In Rainbows or Portishead’s Third. 4 stars.” — Uncut

“Sent shivers down my spine….like Thom Yorke’s Eraser with a bit of a Dubstep vibe and some Post-Rock influences… Nedry’s post-dubstep, shoegazy brilliance will make them stand out from the crowd in 2010” — Huw Stephens – BBC Radio One Introducing

London, UK trio Nedry — whose dazzling fusion of electronica, instrumental rock, dub-step rhythms and hauntingly beautiful vocals has generated a wellspring of excitement in the UK media — announces the U.S. release of its debut album Condors. The disc arrives stateside via Monotreme Records (65daysofstatic, Jeniferever, Barzin) on April 20th, 2010.

Check out the MP3 for “A42” from the album below. Or, watch videos for “A42” and “Apples & Pears”.

Nedry is Matt Parker, Chris Amblin and Ayu Okakita. Their beautiful sound and arresting beats are from and for the “post-” generation. Their songs are dark and ambient but broken-up and lifted by moments of glitch and fuzzy, melodic guitars eliciting comparisons to other iconoclast artists like Bjork, Blonde Redhead and Tuung. Both live and on record they use innovative production techniques to create a truly original sound.

Nedry started performing, producing and recording in summer 2008. In a little over a year they’ve made waves on the UK electronic music scene, sharing stages with the likes of Pivot (Warp), Maps (MUTE), The Gaslamp Killer (Brainfeeder) and Daedelus (Ninja Tune). Nedry have steadily gathered critical acclaim since the self-released SZ EP, and support from the likes of Q Magazine and The Times as well as airplay on a host of radio stations including XFM, Resonance FM, BBC 6Music and BBC Radio 1 has assured them as one of the most exciting bands to emerge in 2009. BBC Radio 1 DJ and new music guru Huw Stephens in particular has championed the Nedry sound, inviting them to the famous Maida Vale studios to record a live session for his show.

Nedry tours the UK this spring with 65daysofstatic as well as headlining dates in the UK & Europe. See complete dates below.

TAYLOR SWIFT AND BUTCH WALKER’S SENSATIONAL GRAMMYS COLLAB SPAWNED FROM VIRAL VID

TAYLOR SWIFT AND BUTCH WALKER’S SENSATIONAL GRAMMYS COLLAB SPAWNED FROM VIRAL VID

This past November, after announcing a residency at LA’s Hotel Cafe, Butch Walker asked fans to request songs he should cover via Twitter. The first night of the residency spawned a fun cover of Swift’s hit, “You Belong With Me,” which was the #1 request from fans. Later that night, Walker recorded his own banjolin-based version of the song, filmed a making-of video and posted the results on his Youtube channel. In less than two days the video went viral and resulted in Swift tweeting a link to the video, declaring “@butchwalker covered You Belong With Me and I’m losing my MIND listening to it! Blown away.”

Last night, Butch joined Swift on stage with Stevie Nicks at the GRAMMYS telecast to perform his own stripped down version of the song with her. Watch it here:

Butch Walker’s new album ‘I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart’ is out February 9 on vinyl and February 23 on CD/Digital via One Haven Music. Each CD will include a free download card of Butch’s “You Belong With Me” cover.

LAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT ANNOUNCE NEW DATES FOR THE “AMERICAN CARNAGE” NORTH AMERICAN TOUR Canadian Carnage East Leg Now Confirmed to Begin Late July

LAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT ANNOUNCE NEW DATES FOR THE “AMERICAN CARNAGE” NORTH AMERICAN TOUR Canadian Carnage East Leg Now Confirmed to Begin Late July

Slayer and Megadeth are thrilled to announce the new, confirmed routing for the American Carnage North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled Canadian Carnage East dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23. Slayer will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the American Carnage leg in Albany, NY on August 11. American Carnage will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, OR on September 4. Testament will be Special Guest on all shows. Tickets purchased for the American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates. Complete information regarding ticket sales can be found at www.slayer.net • www.megadeth.com • www.testamentlegiions.com

Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the American Carnage itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to Slayer’s vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya’s ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a Cervical Radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

“The doctors said that Tom’s surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success,” said Rick Sales, long-time Slayer manager. “He’s home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably.”

Shortly after the surgery, Slayer’s Kerry King received a text from Tom: “Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better.”

The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth and Testament will have toured the U.S. together since 1991’s epic “Clash of the Titans” tour, making this truly a “must-see” event.

Slayer recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in the UK and Europe, and Megadeth and Testament are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the American Carnage itinerary.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road on July 23 in support of their most recent albums: Megadeth’s 2009 album, ENDGAME, and Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the band’s 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3, 2009. Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada – “Canadian Carnage” – the first time the bands had toured together anywhere in 18 years – and then six co-headlining “Carnage” dates in Australia followed last October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: “It was a night of thrash impossible to trash…” “Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun…” “The two heavy metal heavyweights…went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their ‘A’ game. And the results were anything but pretty – unless you include pretty freakin’ loud and pretty freakin’ awesome.”

Slayer. The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot wrote that Slayer is “one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.” Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer – guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo – bring to its live shows, having been named “Best Live Band” by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. World Painted Blood offers a Slayer-ized point of view of our world – God’s terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, and a chilling hypothesis of how the rest of the world might view America. The album was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. World Painted Blood was produced by Greg Fidelman who has spent time in the studio with Metallica, the Gossip, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Slipknot and others, and executive produced by long-time Slayer colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project. One reviewer called the album “the heaviest, bloodiest and best album in almost two decades.” World Painted Blood landed on boatloads of U.S. and International “Best of” lists for 2009, and N.A.R.A.S. saw fit to bestow its fourth Grammy nomination on Slayer – Best Metal Performance for the WPB track, “Hate Worldwide.” For “American Carnage,” Slayer’s Tom Araya promises, “no ballads, no acoustic numbers, no slow tempos.”

Megadeth. 2009 saw the release of ENDGAME, which has been heralded as Megadeth’s best album in years. It’s the record where it all comes full circle in a career that has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth’s signature shredding and rousing lyrics are the hallmarks of ENDGAME, with vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine once again musing and making declarations about the world we live in, having named the album after a government document that should strike fear in the hearts of Americans! But that’s Mustaine and Megadeth, using the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically. Revolver magazine said of ENDGAME, “One of their best albums.” VH1’s ‘That Metal Show’ deemed it “One of the metal albums of the year,” and Popmatters said, “the record positively scorches with an intensity not heard since Rust in Peace.” The band was also awarded the eighth Grammy nomination of its career for “Head Crusher,” which serves as more proof that ENDGAME is quickly earning “essential” status in the Megadeth catalog. Megadeth will appear on the season premiere of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show,” which airs Saturday, February 6, at 11 PM EST.

Legendary thrash metal titans Testament, whose latest award-winning release (2008 Album of the Year, Metal Hammer’s Golden God Award) The Formation of Damnation, displays them as the quintessential modern heavy metal band, whose experience and accumulated skill allows them to attack with reserves of anger, energy and finesse that make them more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck Billy says, “Uniting these bands is the heavy metal event of generations. We are so proud to be a part of it.”
