FLYING LOTUS ANNOUNCES U.S TOUR DATES COSMOGRAMMA OUT MAY 4TH ON WARP RECORDS PLAYING WARP SXSW SHOWCASE MARCH 17TH

Flying Lotus is pleased to announce several U.S. tour dates prior to the release of his fantastic upcoming album, Cosmogramma. Warp Records will release Cosmogramma on May 4th, and Flying Lotus will be playing the Warp SXSW Showcase next month in Austin.

It s impossible to understate what Flying Lotus has created with Cosmogramma, since there is so much to unpack: The effortless musical cohesion of the historical avant-garde and the next chapter of futurism. The conversation at the post-hip-hop crossroads of two urban music traditions, American and British, and at the center of one of the most vibrant sound scenes on the globe today: the beat-and-bass-heavy corner of Los Angeles (of which FlyLo s Brainfeeder is a mainstay). The uncommonly natural musical communication between the physical world and the spiritual, one made personal and given a cohesive form. Even the funny smells, without the slightest whiff of self-importance.

Many artists strive for something grand and vast, but 26 year-old Steven Ellison actually brought it forth from his head and heart. To not dress it in the garb of the special does it a great disservice.

LAMB OF GOD’S CHRIS ADLER AND PRODUCER JOSH WILBUR TEAM UP TO PRODUCE NEW ALBUM FROM THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE NEW ALBUM DUE THIS SPRING ON GOOD FIGHT MUSIC

LAMB OF GOD’S CHRIS ADLER AND PRODUCER JOSH WILBUR TEAM UP TO PRODUCE NEW ALBUM FROM THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE NEW ALBUM DUE THIS SPRING ON GOOD FIGHT MUSIC

LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler has teamed with famed producer Josh Wilbur (Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold) to produce the new album from the band THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE, which is due out this Spring on Good Fight Music.

With a creative approach, broad vision, and DIY principles, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE is a group that exhibits the patience and dedication to step outside the box and create something both heavy and unique. With a foundation steadily built from self-released recordings and self- booked tours, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE signed to LifeForce Records and released their first commercial debut, “Monuments”, in September 07 in the US and the rest of the world the following month. The album ripped along at a driving pace, thoughtfully interchanging syncopated polyrhythmic grooves, striking melodies, and a passionate approach unheard in heavy music; blurring the lines between hardcore and metal, dodging the gimmicks of both. THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE joined the debut roster of Good Fight Music in 2010 to release their upcoming album.

Chris Adler had the following to say about the working with THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE on the production of their new record: “I’ve been wanting to produce a band other than my own for a while now, but never found one that inspired me quite enough to jump in. It’s an exhaustive process to commit your creativity and focus to someone else. Most bands that are noticed today do one thing really well, or are known for a particular direction. Few combine as many elements as seamlessly as THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE. This record is intense to say the least. It feels like a landmark music moment. Time will tell, but I’m obviously pretty f’n psyched.”

Vocalist Ricky Armellino is equally amped about working with Chris Adler and Josh Wilbur on the new album: “Normally when you meet people in Adler’s position, the last thing on their mind is finding new music or even listening to it. Chris still finds the time. He’s full of music and got a ton of energy; I feel like getting him into the writing/ recording process for the new album was an incredible circumstance for us. From day one we’ve been shooting back and forth demos, lyric sheets, home recordings of White Lion songs and developing a lot of ideas together. Josh Wilbur’s an incredible vocal producer and his recordings are organic, huge, and a cut above anything you hear in the genre, so getting him in the mix was a huge blessing for the project. These guys are family to us now and we can’t wait to get this monster on the shelves.”

KARMA TO BURN Announce Vinyl Reissues Of “ALMOST HEATHEN” and “WILD WONDERFUL PURGATORY” on TEE PEE RECORDS

Tee Pee Records is very proud to announce the vinyl reissues of “Wild Wonderful Purgatory” and “Almost Heathen” from legendary stoner rock pioneers KARMA TO BURN. Both albums will be released on April 6th 2010 and will coincide with Karma To Burn’s April 2010 UK / European Tour.

“Wild Wonderful Purgatory” and “Almost Heathen” will each come with a 10″ vinyl of bonus material including demos from the first album, newly recorded versions of 20 and 30 and all new artwork by Alex Von Wielding.

Karma to Burn’s “Wild Wonderful Purgatory” can perhaps be seen more accurately as a modern take on the power trio approach of such groups as the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, and Rush. With the spacy, almost psychedelic and experimental nature present, perhaps the first two fit better. However, the hard-edged metallic fury calls to mind more closely Rush’s debut. These guys have such a great skill at creating dynamic melodies that you never really seem to notice that they have opted to forego the vocals altogether on this second release. This one is a great time, whether you are stoned or not.

Wild Wonderful Purgatory

Few recording artists aspire to the stylistic purity of Karma to Burn, and nowhere is this fact better demonstrated than on “Almost Heathen”. Even the title reinforces the near-decadence, and the strange but necessary elusiveness of artistic completeness. To say that Almost Heathen “rocks” would actually be a disservice to disc. It is more than a great record. It is form as function, the combination of craft and content, meditative, aloof, and sublime, if only for its singularity. Each of the ten non-sequentially numbered tracks do more than rock; they turn and roll, twist and slide, rattle and hum like large metal life forms, first rolling over desolate landscapes on four wheels, then standing upright, growing hair and pounding the rocky soil with the sun-bleached bones of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Sleep, and Kyuss. Picking highlights is impossible, as each “song” acts more like a minutely textured tile in an all-black mosaic, relying heavily on the listener’s reflection, leaving the assignment of meaning to individual imagination. Stoner/doom fans and everyone else who appreciates heavy music will all get a thrill from Almost Heathen, a significant hard rock accomplishment.

HOUSECORE RECORDS ANNOUNCE UPCOMING 2010 RELEASES PHILIP ANSELMO SPEAKS ABOUT THE CREATION AND MISSION OF HOUSECORE RECORDS

HOUSECORE RECORDS ANNOUNCE UPCOMING 2010 RELEASES PHILIP ANSELMO SPEAKS ABOUT THE CREATION AND MISSION OF HOUSECORE RECORDS

HOUSECORE RECORDS (HCR) is the definitive collection of Philip H. Anselmo’s side projects from past to present, and the advancement and release of projects he believes in creatively. The idea of HOUSECORE records was first concocted in the early to mid 90’s at Philip’s earliest address by the lake (AKA Colbert Street) after leaving Texas to return to his hometown of New Orleans, LA. Philip’s house was a primary catalyst for the entire project.

HOUSECORE RECORDS is most definitely an outlet for heavy music, but they a have a lot more to offer from their diverse roster of musicians. This is showcased on the second disc of their HOUSECORE RECORDS compilation which is available now.

2008 and 2009 saw the initial releases from HOUSECORE RECORDS including ARSON ANTHEM’S self-titled EP, CHRIST INVERSION’S self-titled LP, VALHALL’S Red Planet and the aforementioned

2-disc HOUSECORE RECORDS COMPILATION, spotlighting some of the other artists on and/or enthused by HOUSECORE RECORDS.

Label head and founder Philip Anselmo commented on HOUSECORE: “HOUSECORE RECORDS (HCR) is something I’ve needed to do. In 1993, the day after the sound proofing was completed and the gear was loaded into the downstairs practice room on Colbert St, the “HOUSECORE Sound” was birthed.

It was an extremely important thing that DOWN, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, SOILENT GREEN, CHRIST INVERSION, BODY AND BLOOD, THE DISEMBODIED, SPIRIT IN THE ROOM etc all jammed, practiced, wrote, and/or demoed there. Out of those bands came several spin-off groups, even more side bands and prospect projects to be.”

“The creativity in that house was amazing, and soon thereafter, when I’d head back out on tour with PANTERA throughout the rest of the ’90’s, all that could be heard pouring out of my dressing room was HC music. Too many people liked the stuff. They’d beg for copies, but alas, if they hadn’t brought a cassette tape with ’em, they were shit out of luck…

Fast forward to the present, well, the HCR idea has grown. The ’90’s stuff I’d done still stands the test of time, so people deserve to hear it.”

“As far as the new bands are concerned, the fact that I’m investing in them speaks the obvious. Do I think these bands are gonna be swimming in cash, or the next big thing? Not necessarily. But do I think they’re offering-up something fresh and different to the existing, vast music scene? Yep. That’s the important thing for me.”

April 27th will see the first two releases from HOUSECORE RECORDS for 2010. Texas thrashers WARBEAST will be releasing Krush The Enemy. When asked to describe WARBEAST Philip said, “WARBEAST is pure, relentlessly executed Thrash at its best. Absolutely Ripping! I know that sounds generic, but WARBEAST isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, they’re influenced by great bands from years gone by, but what sets them apart is the execution and variety of styles explored. The end result is original sounding, and “Void Filling” to my ‘Thrash-keen’ ears! Plus, I’ve grown up with these cats, so I know they’re the real deal.”

The other release will be from THE SURSIKS entitled I Didn’t Know I Was Singing. Let’s get this straight, THE SURSIKS are NOT METAL nor HARDCORE, but they’re undeniably just as extreme.

THE SURSIKS have been dubbed “The masters of musical reverse engineering”, and on this album they’ve taken 16 phone messages from the answering machines of family and friends and set them to music. The result is a truly brilliant, hilarious and mind-altering concept album that will change the way that you listen to the human voice out in the real world. Says Philip: “Each ‘song/message’ is it’s own musical adventure. From Detroit style Rhythm and Blues, to dramatic strings and timpani drum driven pieces, with hilarious and tragic topics abound, THE SURSIKS are the epitome of ‘different’, and a stark reminder to any band out there, that all the notes haven’t been played yet, so to speak. Totally original. Completely brilliant.”

HOUSECORE has many more sonic, eclectic releases planned for 2010 including:

ARSON ANTHEM’S first full length (17-songs of vicious HARDCORE!), a new full-length from haarp (Crushing, resolute and epic), THE MANSON FAMILY SOUNDTRACK (Featuring tracks from BODY & BLOOD, THE DISEMBODIED, and the original version of ‘Creepy Crawl’ from the 1995 SUPERJOINT demo), the debut release from the entrancing SKY HIGH, and an extremely heavy live album from CROWBAR. Stay tuned for more upcoming releases from HOUSECORE RECORDS.

Doves – The Places Between: The Best of Doves album

DOVES

“The Places Between: The Best of Doves”

Released on Astralwerks/Heavenly Recordings on April 6

So here we are, twelve years since Doves formed in Manchester and released the Cedar Room EP on the Casino Records imprint, and ten years since Doves epochal debut, Lost Souls was released on Astralwerks/Heavenly Recordings. In that time we have been privy to a catalogue of genre-warping singles and a quartet of albums that have forced writers to go back to the thesaurus in search of new superlatives. These are The Places Between, a multi-format Best Of that has cherry picked the best from UK number one albums: The Last Broadcast and Some Cities, last year’s critically acclaimed masterpiece, Kingdom Of Rust and their generation defining debut Lost Souls. Indeed, from UK number 3 hit ‘There Goes The Fear’ to the Motown thump of ‘Black and White Town’ and the anthemic morning-after glow of ‘The Cedar Room’. The Places Between has been painstakingly sequenced by Jimi, Andy and Jez themselves in the way they want you to experience their last decades work, in short this is the definitive Doves Best Of.

Furthermore, in addition to a host of B sides, rarities, and unreleased tracks that make up the second disc there is a smattering of brand-new recordings, ‘Blue Water’, “Drifter” (Featuring Cherry Ghost’s Simon Aldred) and the brilliant new single ‘Andalucía’.
