SEABEAR RELEASE WE BUILT A FIRE THIS WEEK, READY THEIR SEA(BEAR) LEGS FOR SXSW + TOURING DEBUT!
Icelandic dream-pop septet Seabear’s sophomore release, We Built A Fire, is out this week on Morr Music! What started as a lo-fi solo project of Icelandic singer/multi-instrumentalist Sindri Már Sigfússon, has grown into a rambling experimental/indie-folk collaboration. The band is now preparing for their first-ever set of performances in North America starting with SXSW. Catch Seabear with Via Tania and fellow Morr Music/Sound of a Handshake artist and Seabear member Sóley when they come to your town!
Download the mp3 for their single “Lion Face Boy,” featured as an NPR “Song of the Day” and SXSW 2010 Recommended Artist…

“Seabear’s quiet execution gives its music a breezy quality. It’s a sonically lush whisper, sharing secrets with anyone curious enough to listen.” – NPR
“Seabear sounds like nothing you want to keep to yourself… rolling out hushed, percolating songs about dreamless sleep and punching holes in the sun. The tunes are no less intimate than their bedroom origins” – Paste Magazine “Emergent Artist”
“Sigfússon’s voice is the main focus, soft, cool, unstrained” – Blurt
“There’s a happy melding of folkie tunefulness on acoustic assemblies of fiddles, drums and guitars with ambitiously subterranean and yet sunny techno textures.” – American Songwriter
“Their rise into the International consciousness is nearly as serendipitous as their creative process” – Corduroy Magazine
“… intricate melodies, with its confetti-strewn walk through woods and trippy, fireworks display” – Filter Magazine
“Dreamy imagery and explosions of color go perfectly with the song’s lush folk sound” – Magnet
“‘We Built a Fire’ conveys a penchant for understatement, which just might be its greatest charm.” – Agit Reader
