Echo & The Bunnymen Launch US Tour In Support Of The Fountain! Dates Include Coachella Festival Appearance

British post-punk legends Echo & The Bunnymen are launching their first US tour in support of their acclaimed new album, The Fountain. The shows are hot on the heels of the band’s recent tour celebrating their landmark album Ocean Rain that included orchestral performances at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.Their highly anticipated appearance at the Coachella Festival will kick off the tour.

The Fountain started to come together in 2007 when frontman Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant started working on new songs. For the next year, the group brought the album together in Liverpool’s Parr Street Recording Studios. McCulloch calls The Fountain “the best thing we’ve done since Ocean Rain.” The press has been raving about the record with Alternative Press praising its “brisk, vibrant pop songs” and Filter calling it “ replete with shimmering, flaw-repellant pop, all glorious melodies and gorgeous atmospherics”

UK’S MUMFORD & SONS ANNOUNCE NEW US TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF DEBUT SIGH NO MORE ALBUM DEBUTED AT #2 ON BILLBOARD HEATSEEKERS CHART BAND RECENTLY PLAYED SOLD-OUT NYC AND LA SHOWS; APPEARED ON THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN

New York, NY – Celebrated British indie rock imports Mumford & Sons will hit the road this spring for a much-anticipated run of headlining tour dates. The tour kicks off May 13th in Montreal and sees the band making their way across the US, wrapping up June 16th in Kansas City, MO. Along the way, Mumford & Sons will make stops at the colossal Bonnaroo and Sasquatch music festivals in Tennessee and Washington, respectively. Australian band Middle East will open all the shows. Full tour dates below.

Mumford & Sons’ US debut album Sigh No More was released to critical acclaim, with glowing reviews from The New York Times and others. The album entered the Billboard Heatseekers chart at number two in its first week. The band recently played to sold-out crowds in New York City and Los Angeles, and made their first TV appearances, on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Mumford & Sons’ gutsy, banjo-driven, old-time sound marries the magic of Crosby, Stills & Nash with the might of Kings of Leon and harmonies Brian Wilson would be proud of . Sigh No More was recently released in the UK to critical accolades. The album debuted in the UK iTunes Top 10 and is being lauded by tastemaker publications such as NME (“A band who know they’re onto something not just good, but spectacular”) and Q Magazine (“A record that swings from arresting fragility to hearty dynamics.”) The album was recorded at Eastcote Studios, where Arctic Monkeys, Brian Eno, Tindersticks and Laura Marling all honed their sound. The band teamed with producer Markus Dravs who has worked with such acts as Arcade Fire, Bjork and Peter Gabriel.

Since their inception in 2007, Mumford & Sons have self-produced three EPs and toured the UK extensively, bringing their rootsy rock across the country. The band recently wrapped a handful of well-received performances during the annual CMJ Music Marathon in New York, which left TIME OUT NY to comment, “The Brit combo has a spine-tingling way with harmony.”

BENNI HEMM HEMM RELEASES NEW HOMESPUN RETALIATE EP DOWNLOAD THE MP3 FOR “RETALIATE” HERE

During a recent move to Edinburgh, Scotland, Iceland native Benni Hemm Hemm aka Benedikt Hermannsson learned two things: 1.) to speak Scottish, and 2.) that it’s just as much fun recording at home as it is to record in Sundlaugin, the Sigur Rós studio.

To practice his recently discovered knowledge, Benni made an EP with his home recording gear, aptly named, Retaliate. Benni plays most of the instruments, in addition to the wonderful contributions of Emily Scott (double bass) and Peter Liddle (trumpet & alto-horn). The resulting EP is a collection of five songs which feature knives, gold, lazy pioneers, confident talibans, blood thirsty vampires, Stan-Stan-the-caretaker-man and last but not least blood, lots of blood.

Retaliate is Benni Hemm Hemm´s third EP (and sixth overall release), and is his first release sung completely in English. It will be released on a 10″ vinyl and on CD April 24th on Kimi Records (FM Belfast, Reykjavik!). Benni Hemm Hemm will tour Europe this spring and summer, with plans to hit the US later this year.

“The urgency of many instruments joining in sets many of the songs apart from the ruminative, airy acoustics…still, by changing up predictable guitar chords just slightly– by hollowing them out and creating surprising vocal harmonies around them– the songs become summery memorabilia as opposed to forgettable.” – Pitchfork

“A different sort of Icelandic fair for those more attune to Sigur Ros or Mum or Bjork, but just as smart, just as creative. More like Benni Mmmm Mmmm!” – Amplifier magazine

ACTIVE CHILD RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “SHE WAS A VISION” TODAY MARCH 2ND FORTHCOMING 6-SONG EP ON FILTER US RECORDINGS ACTIVE CHILD PERFORMING AT SXSW MUSIC CONFERENCE IN AUSTIN, TX

ACTIVE CHILD RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “SHE WAS A VISION” TODAY MARCH 2ND FORTHCOMING 6-SONG EP ON FILTER US RECORDINGS ACTIVE CHILD PERFORMING AT SXSW MUSIC CONFERENCE IN AUSTIN, TX

Los Angeles, CA – After building considerable hype with several critically-acclaimed singles in the UK, ACTIVE CHILD- the moniker for indie pop artist Pat Grossi- releases his debut single in the US “She Was A Vision” b/w “Voice Of An Old Friend,” today March 2nd on Filter US Recordings. A six-song EP, also on Filter Magazine’s label, is slated for release later this year. ACTIVE CHILD will appear at this year’s South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, TX. Dates below.

This highly-anticipated release comes on the heels of myriad press raves. In the US, ACTIVE CHILD has garnered positive reviews from Stereogum, Pitchfork Media, The Fader, and LA Weekly who called him “evidently capable of great, great things” and proclaimed that he “excel[s] at a sort of ethereal organic sprawl that’s been absent from LA music.” Pitchfork Media lauded ACTIVE CHILD’s mixed-genre work as “a good example of the positive results to be yielded from a musician straddling two disparate styles.” In the UK, tastemaker magazine the NME called his songs “divine,” while The Guardian named ACTIVE CHILD Band of the Day.

ACTIVE CHILD’s songs feature the skilled use of various 80s-tinged synths to create ethereal, soaring soundscapes, punctuated by crisp electronic drum samples and handclaps. All of this lays the groundwork for Grossi’s exquisite vocals, which, with their unearthly sound and evocative lyrics, take on an enchanting, hymnal quality. Grossi participated in choirs throughout his childhood; the influence of chorale singing, along with the sensibility of non-secular music, is as apparent in ACTIVE CHILD’s work as the influence of 80s synth pop bands like New Order, Joy Division and Tears for Fears.
