If you DID catch Tobacco on his last tour, perhaps you witnessed openers The Hood Internet. These Chicago mash-up pranksters have created a stunning speculative collaboration between Tobacco’s Maniac Meat and Felt’s new record, Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez. Felt is the trio of Slug + Murs + Aesop Rock. The whole 5 song EP is available to stream or download below

The Hood Internet vs. Tobacco vs. Felt

Order Maniac Meat here

“What makes Maniac Meat so wildly invigorating is Fec’s ability to craft weather-treated (‘Sweatmother’), blood-pumping (‘New Juices From the Hot Tub Freaks’) and downright original sounding songs that somehow come off like they were written on the first take. Like so many cliché-ridden sports announcers have said over the years, ‘he just makes it look so easy.’” – Daniel Sylvester, Exclaim!

“The record hits somewhere between the surreal and the sublime — jagged, raw and filled with hellishly catchy melodies.” – Jeff Weiss, LA Times’ Pop & Hiss Blog

“Taking the next step and making that creepiness sound appealing is what makes Maniac Meat the feel-weird hit of the summer.” – Nate Patrin, Pitchfork

“On his second Anticon solo disc, melted mellotrons and tingly synths slither over tufts of vocoder fuzz and a slo-mo shuffle-thump. Not much has changed; it’s just been both fortified and demented, buzzsaw harsh and woozily intergalactic. Beck shows up twice – piecing together a jigsaw rap in the fleeting ‘Fresh Hex’ and singing wispy incantations throughout ‘Grape Aerosmith’ – but he barely registers. He doesn’t need to.” – Bernardo Rondeau, FILTER

“It’s definitely one of the coolest and weirdest records you’ll hear all year.” – Kevin O’Donnell, RollingStone.com

BENEATH ME CHARTS AT #6 ON “HOT 10 LIST” AT WGDR MAD RADIO SUMMER TOUR TO BEGIN IN AUGUST, DETAILS TO COME!

BENEATH ME CHARTS AT #6 ON “HOT 10 LIST” AT WGDR MAD RADIO SUMMER TOUR TO BEGIN IN AUGUST, DETAILS TO COME!

Chicago, IL natives BENEATH ME are pleased to announce a promising charting position at #6 at WGDR Mad Radio in Vermont! The band is garnering some excellent praise in radio, and this honor is being reflected by some big names. “Beneath Me has a new and different sound,” states Mudvayne guitarist and backing vocalist Greg Tribbett. “They have big potential to break new ground.” BENEATH ME recently appeared live on Rebel Radio WPJX 1500 AM in their home state of Illinois, as well as KJML 107.1 in Columbus, Kansas.

BENEATH ME released their new record, Wish I Wouldn’t Care, on April 13th, 2010, and are looking forward to more live radio appearances in the near future to accent their upcoming U.S. run! The band is thrilled to mention that they will be heading out on the road this August, kicking off in Peoria, IL. More details on the tour will be announced soon.

BENEATH ME is the amalgamation of two Chicago outfits that both met their demise in 2007. The first of which featured twin brothers Mikey Vujasin (Rhythm/Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals), Andy Vujasin (Drums) and George Sack (Rhythm/Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals). The second band was helmed by bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Johnny Drugan. Members of both groups were mutual partners in crime, so after the demise of their respective bands it was only natural for them to get together to form what would become BENEATH ME.

ABOUT KENNY G:
Having sold an astonishing 75 million+ copies worldwide in his unparalleled career, Kenny G is easily the world’s most renowned instrumentalist. After years of playing professionally with groups like Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra and Jeff Lorber Fusion, Kenny signed with Arista Records in 1982. His big moment came in 1988 on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. A producer insisted that the artist should perform a track accompanied by a vocalist. Kenny felt it was important in this moment to establish himself with an instrumental. The debate continued up until minutes before show time when Kenny launched into “Songbird,” the landmark recording from his fourth album, Duotones and a star was born. From there Kenny went on to become a multi-platinum sensation soon collaborating with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Frank Sinatra. His next studio albums, Silhouette and Breathless were enormously successful. Miracles was Kenny’ first album to hit number #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and became the best selling holiday album of all-time. 2004’s all-star album entitled At Last…The Duets Album featured performances by Barbara Streisand, Burt Bacharach, and LeAnn Rimes. 2006’s I’m in the Mood for Love: The Most Romantic Melodies of All Time, the saxophonist’s unique take on some of the greatest love songs ever written including standards such as Dorothy Fields’ “The Way You Look Tonight,” right up through modern hits such as Alicia Keys’ “I Ain’t Got You,” and James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful.” An avid aviator and golfer, Kenny G resides in California.

Under Byen Releases New Video and mp3 Download for “Kapitel 1”

UNDER BYEN RELEASES NEW VIDEO AND MP3 DOWNLOAD FOR “KAPITEL 1”

“…hard to get out of your head once you’ve given yourself over to it…Under Byen give themselves over completely to a particular way of doing things, in the process crafting an album whose utter strangeness is arresting and whose consistency of vision is impressive.” – Pitchfork, 7.6 Review

Denmark’s heavily atmospheric and strikingly beautiful septet Under Byen recently released their video for “Kapitel 1” (available on Vimeo), along with the mp3 download for the song (available for posting). The clip so closely parallels the song that Stereogum, who premiered the video, remarked “the result is as moody and taut as the track…The sparse track’s strings also give the impression, almost, that it was written as a soundtrack for the video, because they’re so in sync.”

Directed once again by visual artist Sidse Carstens, who was behind their video for “Alt Er Tabt” (All is lost), the clip focuses on a few dramatically coiffed characters, each enacting individualized, powerful gestures, collectively focusing on their hair. As the director states, “I’ve decided to do this as a piece of art, not a music video in the common sense of the word. I often work with different characters in my movies.”

“Kapitel 1” (Chapter 1) is taken from Under Byen’s recently released fourth album, Alt Er Tabt, available now on Paper Bag Records.
