Jeremy Messersmith Announces June Tour

“A singer-songwriter from Minneapolis with an keen ear for 1960s chamber pop and folk, Jeremy Messersmith arrives to tout his new album, “The Reluctant Graveyard,” which evokes the Beach Boys, the Association, the Turtles, Simon Garfunkel and modern masters like Sufjan Stevens.” – Wall Street Journal

“Imagine Elliott Smith driving in a convertible, the wind flying through his hair, singing about sadness and somehow creating joy enough to forget his troubles for a while.” – The Onion

“Inspired by his sojourns through a historic cemetery, Jeremy Messersmith set his darkly romantic thoughts to an unexpected soundtrack-sunny, Beatles- and Beach Boys-style pop-on The Reluctant Graveyard” – UTNE Reader

“Like his previous outings, but even better, the chamber-power-popster knows how to write a vintage sing-along.” – Some Velvet Blog, Bruce Warren WXPN

In support of the recent release of The Reluctant Graveyard, Minneapolis’s Jeremy Messersmith will be touring throughout June. Jeremy made his way through the West Coast in May, including dates with Frightened Rabbit and Telekinesis, as well as a sold out release show at Minneapolis’s historic Cedar Culture Center — a record number of ticket sales for the venue. He was also recently the cover story for Village Voice’s City Pages. Jeremy will cover the rest of the country on this jaunt, this time joined by Brooklyn’s KaiserCartel.

Jeremy’s music takes cues from ’60s Beach Boys, Beatles and Zombies-influenced chamber pop and classic pop. He puts his own energy and spin on the pop formula, and has a genuine talent for writing updated, instantly-memorable songs. His music has been featured on NPR, MTV and “Ugly Betty” among others. While featuring the track “Violet!” as the “Song of the Day” (mp3 download available for posting here), NPR called The Reluctant Graveyard “one of the year’s sunniest and most endearing pop records.”

A highly active member of the social media world and music community, Jeremy was invited to this year’s SXSW Interactive as an example of new and creative ways artists can brand themselves. He was also featured in a recent AOL Spinner piece on the subject as well. Jeremy updates his website every Wednesday with new content, from a b-side track, show announcement, lunchtime video concert, to streaming video from the recording studio allowing for live fan feedback.

Be sure to look out for what Jeremy has to offer on his site from the road and catch him live when he comes to your town!
