Montreal’s Winter Gloves back with brand new EP and tour dates with Young Galaxy

Montreal’s Winter Gloves back with brand new EP and tour dates with Young Galaxy.

Toronto — Following hot-on-the-heels of their acclaimed second album All Red, Winter Gloves are forging ahead with a slew of new music released over the next month. In addition to a five-track iTunes Live Session released via the site on February 22nd, three new songs on the Heart Out EP will be released digitally on March 8th from Paper Bag Records. Winter Gloves will debut their new material live on their upcoming tour with label-mates Young Galaxy and at their showcase at Canadian Music Week (full list of dates below).

The Heart Out EP consists of three brand-new tracks recorded at the band’s hometown studio in Montreal over the Christmas holidays as Winter Gloves took that time to finish ideas that were started during the recording of All Red. Born Ruffians’ Luke Lalonde passed through the studio to contribute his signature vocals on the chorus of ‘Paper Pile’ after the bands’ successful fall tour together. Winter Gloves are currently working on a video for ‘Dancing My Heart Out’ that will accompany their time on the road next month.

All Red is Winter Gloves’ sophomore release on Paper Bag Records, highlighted on iTunes’ Best of 2010 list. In a return to the roots of the original EP that first introduced Winter Gloves’ poppy mix of gritty bass and synths sound, the album was produced by the band’s Charles F (lead singer, guitar, synths). The foursome is rounded out with Patrick Sayers on drums, Vincent Chalifour on bass and synths, and Nico Ormiston on guitar and bringing back the glockenspiel that was a well-mentioned highlight on their debut about a girl album.

“Look for this cheerful, infectious disc on next’s year Polaris Prize short list” – Globe and Mail (3.5/4 stars)

“While everyone has been paying attention to Montreal’s indie poster-bands, a new slew of talented acts are making up the next wave. Slot Winter Gloves onto that list.” – Montreal Gazette (4 stars)

“All Red defies the boundaries of run-of-the-mill electro-pop with its sophisticated arrangements and clever lyrics. And with only three songs reaching the three-minute mark, Winter Gloves’ preference for the short and sweet is apparent. Wisely, they always leave us wanting more.” – EYE Weekly (4/5 stars)
