AUGUSTANA GEAR UP TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED NEW ALBUM ON APRIL 26TH, 2011 FIRST SINGLE, “STEAL YOUR HEART,” GOES TO RADIO FEBRUARY 14TH

Augustana will release their eagerly awaited self-titled third album for Epic Records on April 26th, 2011. The first single from the album, “Steal Your Heart,” will go to radio on February 14th. The band, which is fronted by vocalist/lyricist Daniel Layus, recorded the album in Los Angeles with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Jacquire King, who is known for his work with Kings of Leon and Norah Jones, among others.

“The creative and musical progression of this record feels like the most true expression of who this band is in its most basic form,” said Layus. “We worked really hard to bring the sound to a new frontier, but not so far that it lost that sense of organic sensibility.”

The album delivers on the emotionally resonant, rootsy pop/rock that Augustana have become known for since launching themselves onto the scene with their major-label debut, 2005’s All The Stars and Boulevards. The album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. It also spawned two Top 40 hits, “Stars and Boulevards” and “Boston,” which was certified digital platinum. The band’s follow-up, 2008’s Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt spawned the singles “Sweet and Low,” and “I Still Ain’t Over You.”

Augustana is vocalist Dan Layus, guitarist Chris Sachtleben, bassist Jared Palomar, and drummer Justin South.

The track-listing for Augustana is as follows:

1. Steal Your Heart
2. Wrong Side Of Love
3. On The Other Side
4. Counting Stars
5. Borrowed Time
6. Shot In The Dark
7. Someone’s Baby Now
8. Hurricane
9. Just Stay Here Tonight
10. It Only Means I Love You (You Were Made For Me)

Mansions Release “Blackest Sky” New Single From Forthcoming Album Dig Up The Dead

NEW ALBUM DIG UP THE DEAD OUT APRIL 5

Louisville, Kentucky native Christopher Browder’s heartfelt second album, Dig Up The Dead, released under the moniker Mansions, will be released April 5 through Burning House Records/King Bones Recordings. Starting today, the album’s first single, “Blackest Sky” is available for free download.

Browder may look unassuming enough, but he’s a man who’s both prone to embracing what’s in front of him and running with it, and an artist who’s not afraid to look over his shoulder for inspiration.

Completing the majority of the recording alone, Browder creates a sound that is intimate, honest, and raw.

Says Browder, “Recording the album alone as I was moving around from place to place was cathartic. The record really is a diary of the intense and profound changes I was making in my life.

Biffy Clyro Nominated for Brits and NME Awards After Ten Years, Scottish Trio Are an Overnight Sensation Storming Stateside February 10th With Headlining Tour, Second Tour With Cage The Elephant to Follow This Spring

Biffy Clyro Nominated for Brits and NME Awards After Ten Years, Scottish Trio Are an Overnight Sensation Storming Stateside February 10th With Headlining Tour, Second Tour With Cage The Elephant to Follow This Spring

“Serious Contenders for the Title of Greatest Band in Britain” – NME

Breakthrough band Biffy Clyro has been nominated for three UK music awards. The Scottish trio was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group, alongside The xx, Gorillaz, Mumford & Sons and Take That. Biffy also received nods from the Shockwave NME Awards for Best Live Band and Best British Group, alongside Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and Foals.

These nominations add to Biffy’s already lengthy list of accolades. Their fifth studio release, the Garth Richardson-produced Only Revolutions, has spawned three Top Ten singles in the UK and is well on its way to being certified double-platinum there. Only Revolutions was nominated for the coveted 2010 Mercury Prize and their single “Captain” won Best Video at both the Kerrang! and NME Awards in 2010.

Only Revolutions has also received substantial critical acclaim in the UK. The Sunday Times, Kerrang and Q each gave it four stars, Esquire labeled it “a blistering triumph” and the NME declared that the release “springs the band instantly level with the greatest rock acts in the world.”

Vocalist/guitarist Simon Neil, bassist James Johnston and drummer Ben Johnston formed Biffy Clyro in 1995 and quickly began honing their unique sound, a mind-boggling mix of off-kilter tempos, itchy, unpredictable guitars, soulful choruses and feral screams. Relentless touring built a dedicated army of followers and turned Biffy Clyro into one of the most celebrated live bands in the UK — they’ve shared the stage with Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Linkin Park, filled Wembley Arena on a recent headlining run and became the first band ever to play in the Houses of Parliament.

On February 10th Biffy Clyro will be arriving in America for a headlining tour. The month-long string of dates kicks off in Washington, DC and brings them to New York’s Gramercy Theater February 12th and Los Angeles’ Troubadour March 1st. Biffy will also be supporting Cage The Elephant on several dates of their upcoming US tour, beginning March 31st in Cincinnati, OH.

Unique European residency in February: Mondays in Amsterdam (Paradiso); Tuesdays in Berlin (White Trash); and Fridays in Paris – full-scale U.S. & Euro tours to follow

(February 1, 2011- New York, NY) With loyal fanbase followings on every continent around the world, Island Records group the Airborne Toxic Eventis set to release its first new single in nearly two years – as “Changing” goes to Alternative radio on January 31st and is available at all digital partners today! Produced by Dave Sardy (credits: Oasis, Band of Horses, the Ting Tings, Twisted Wheel), “Changing” is the first single pick from the Airborne Toxic Event’s long-awaited new album, ALL AT ONCE, in stores April 26th.

In advance of the album release, the Airborne Toxic Event will play an unprecedented trio of European residencies in February. Throughout the month, they will perform every Monday at Paradiso in Amsterdam, every Tuesday at White Trash in Berlin, and every Friday at a different venue in Paris (while also touring extensively throughout the three countries and the UK during the month).

Since its release in 2008, The Airborne Toxic Event, the band’s self-titled debut album has sold over 200,000 copies in the U.S., and over 300,000 copies internationally. Named “Debut Album of the Year” by the Boston Herald, the record spent 53 weeks on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, with eight of those weeks logged at #1. The album’s breakthrough single “Sometime Around Midnight” rose to #4 on the BillboardModern Rock chart, and was named Alternative Song Of The Year at iTunes. The next single, “Wishing Well,” broke the Top 20 at Alternative radio. The songs received major airplay internationally on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Austria, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and South East Asia.

The Airborne Toxic Event – Mikel Jollett(vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen(guitar, keyboards), Anna Bulbrook(viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals), Noah Harmon (bass, backing vocals), and Daren Taylor (drums) – have earned their reputation as an aggressive touring band, known for playing more than 350 dates in support of their debut album release, supporting Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, the Ting Tings, and many others.

The Airborne Toxic Event is certainly no stranger to grand musical gestures like the European residency. They were the only modern music artists to perform at the esteemed Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles during its 2009 fall season. The result was the concert-documentary film All I Ever Wanted, released September 2010, and chosen as an official selection to the Raindance Film Festival. The band also performed with The Colorado Symphony last month. Full-scale U.S. and European tours will follow this spring, with dates to be announced February 15th.

The Airborne Toxic Event is also familiar to television viewers, having debuted on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly, and appeared on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, NBC’s The Tonight Showwith Jay Leno, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the old NBC Late Night with Conan O’Brien. They headlined a one-hour concert special on DirecTV. VH1 designated them a “You Oughta Know” artist, later peaked at #4 on VH1’s Top 20 countdown. They have also received A-list rotation on MTV2.

mtvU ANNOUNCES THE “2011 mtvU WOODIE AWARD” NOMINEES FOR SHOW AIRING LIVE FROM AUSTIN, TEXAS ON MTV, mtvU AND MTV2 ON MARCH 16TH

Artists Include Matt & Kim, The Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa, LCD Soundsystem,

Wavves, Two Door Cinema Club, Mumford & Sons, B.o.B, Sleigh Bells, and more

Kanye West Battles Die Antwoord, Lil B, Yelawolf and Das Racist for “Left Field Woodie”

New York, NY – February 1, 2011 – MTV’s 24-hour college network, mtvU, today announced the nominees for the “2011 mtvU Woodie Awards”- the one night of music where college students make their voices heard to recognize their favorite emerging artists. As the show heads south to Austin, Texas during the 25th Anniversary of the South by Southwest Music Festival, artists including Matt & Kim, Two Door Cinema Club, Wavves, The Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa, Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend and more will vie for “2011 mtvU Woodie Awards.” The show will air live Wednesday night, March 16 at 12:00 am ET/PT on MTV, mtvU and MTV2. mtvU will announce performers and presenters on a later date.

The Black Keys lead the nominees this year with nods in the “Best Video Woodie” and “Woodie of the Year” categories. Other artists up for “Woodie of the Year” – or the artists who made an indelible stamp on the college music scene this year – include B.o.B, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, and Wiz Khalifa. The “Left Field Woodie” recognizes boundary-busting artists who refuse to be put in a box and continuously surprise fans with fresh sounds. Kanye West joins emerging artists Die Antwoord, Lil B, Yelawolf, and Das Racist on this list thanks to his movie “Runaway,” and his ability to transcend hip hop, giving fans a new, unexpected sound with each album. Das Racist is nominated in this category based off their do-it-yourself approach and original sound that’s tough to categorize; Die Antwoord for their rap meets rave meets train wreck “wtf” sound; Lil B for pioneering warped, stream-of-conscious rap with (literally) no rhyme or reason; and Yelawolf for his unexpected murky, deep south hip hop.

Recognizing artists on the brink of breaking through to mainstream, “Breaking Woodie” nominees include Local Natives, Sleigh Bells, Dev, Wavves, and Two Door Cinema Club. For the first time, mtvU will collect votes in this category via Tweets and Facebook posts that include a combination of the nominee’s official “@” Twitter handle and the hashtag #Woodies. Artists will earn more votes as the “social voting” gets amplified via re-tweets, “likes” and comments. Additionally, Vampire Weekend, Duck Sauce, Gorillaz, Chiddy Bang and The Black Keys face off in hopes of bringing home a chunk of wood for the “Best Video Woodie,” and The National, Girl Talk, Matt & Kim, Robyn and Mumford & Sons compete for this year’s “Performing Woodie.”

“We are excited to be nominated for the ‘Woodie Awards’ and are super stoked that MTV has been so supportive of our videos,” said Patrick Carney of The Black Keys.

“We couldn’t ask for a better category to be nominated in,” said Matt & Kim. “Playing live is what this band is built on. And the nomination isn’t just for us… it proves our audience is the best, funnest, and wildest party animals out there.”

“mtvU is like home to me. This nomination is both an honor and a pleasure,” said B.o.B.

Woodie Award voting begins today at woodies.mtv.com and runs through March 1, 2011, except for the “Breaking Woodie” category which will continue during the live show on March 16.

Once again, mtvU is also honoring 50 pioneering college radio stations committed to bringing students the latest indie and emerging music. Lauded for championing artists before they achieve mainstream success, these student-run radio stations represent the new music vanguard long since abandoned by traditional FM radio. The top stations are chosen based off accolades from CMJ College Radio acknowledgements, Princeton Review top list, online nominations through Rate My Professors and Twitter and independent questionnaires completed by a cross-section of record labels. Top 50 radio stations can be found on http://radiowoodie.ratemyprofessors.com/, where fans can vote for their favorite station. 25 nominees will move forward to the next round and then the list will be narrowed down to the top 10 before one ultimately wins the 2011 “College Radio Woodie.”

As the only award show to honor and highlight the music and artists voted ‘best’ by the US college audience, the 7th annual show promises an unforgettable night of music and performances. College students established the “mtvU Woodie Awards” in 2004 and has since propelled numerous recognized acts to the next level of their careers – including surging record sales, headlining tours and mainstream notoriety. Examples include: Fall Out Boy (Streaming Woodie ’04), the Killers (Breaking Woodie ’04), Death Cab for Cutie (Best Video Woodie ’05), Plain White Ts (Breaking Woodie ’06), Gym Class Heroes (Woodie of the Year ’07), Paramore (Woodie of the Year ‘08) and Matt & Kim (Best Video Woodie ’09).

The Black Angels Confirm New Tour Dates

BLACK ANGELS ANNOUNCE SPRING HEADLINE TOUR

Blue Horizon is pleased to announce that The Black Angels will be heading out on a headlining tour this spring in support of their latest release, Phosphene Dream. The tour will kick off at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, LA, on March 31st and conclude with a home state stop in Dallas, TX, at The Loft on May 21st. In between these dates, they will also be performing at their third annual Austin Psych Fest, which will take place April 29-May 1st. It is no secret that the band loves to tour, and their stunning live shows illustrate their dedication. NPR attended a performance at Seattle’s Triple Door late last year and proclaimed, “The group tore the roof off and let its razor blade leads and wailing organ-synth rain down. Leader Alex Maas barked with a ferociousness that sunk into the skin.” The Black Angels will also spend the month of February touring throughout Europe, further proving they have no plans to slow down anytime soon.

Phosphene Dream marks a huge leap forward for The Black Angels. It was produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother) in Los Angeles, a far stretch from the cozy Austin studios that delivered their first two records. This new one presents a fresh take on the neo-Psychedelic movement they’ve been at the forefront of for years.

The Black Angels spent the past Fall on the road with Black Mountain in support of this new release, which Rolling Stone praised, claiming: “there are smartly layered riffs and echo-slathered melodies, and the Angels brighten up on tracks like ‘Telephone,’ a 119-second nugget that would have fit in on an early Kinks album.” Filter agreed, calling Phosphene Dream”face-melting,” while the BBC declared, “rock album of the year, if anyone’s counting.”
