MTV2 PREMIERES MUSIC VIDEO FOR THE WOMBATS HIT SINGLE “TOKYO (VAMPIRES & WOLVES)”

APPLAUDED NEW ALBUM THE WOMBATS PROUDLY PRESENT: THIS MODERN GLITCH
OUT THIS WEEK ON BRIGHT ANTENNA/ILG

Liverpool’s The Wombats return with their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Wombats proudly present … This Modern Glitch. BBC declares it “a flawless modern classic…[an] incredible, irrepressible, ecstatic, brilliant record…the pop album of the year, by at least a dozen choruses,” while SPIN proclaims it “Echo & the Bunnymen for the Internet Age.”

The video for their hit single “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)” premieres today on MTV2. The song, which is making huge waves at Alternative radio, offers sweeping synths, a driving bass line and propulsive beats set against an exuberant chorus that speaks to the band’s immediately familiar songwriting.

The 10-song set retains the immediacy and hook-filled sensibility of their stunning 2007 UK platinum-selling debut, while introducing aggressive dance elements and a heavier, wryer lyrical bent to their infectious alt-pop. Featuring the trio’s trademark humor, self-deprecation and pop-culture piss-takes (as on the single “Techno Fan”), the album’s darker subject matter, as on “Anti-D,” which deals with antidepressant addiction, adds a new edge to their dancefloor anthems.

More Praise for The Wombats proudly present: This Modern Glitch:
“Echo & the Bunnymen for the Internet Age …” -Spin.com

“Taking their trademark wit, self-deprecation, teen angst, and pop culture fanboy-ism, This Modern Glitch is heavy on the sweet sounds of synth and a ton of nerdy boyish ache. Don’t, however, let that awkwardness skew the fact they’re mature, dedicated songwriters.” – Consequence of Sound

“danceable rhythms that all build to infectious, energetic choruses.” – Paste Magazine

“a fun, immediate sugar-rush of a listen.” -Drowned in Sound

“This Modern Glitch is a flawless modern classic…[an] incredible, irrepressible, ecstatic, brilliant record … The pop album of the year, by at least a dozen choruses.” -BBC.co.uk

“A ten-song masterclass in spiky, lyrically-vivid, synth-coloured pop … Snap, crackle, pop immediacy, instant and profound. Nothing can detract (or distract) from this album’s infectiousness.” – Sunday Times
