RMR/Virgin Records’ Australian rock trio Sick Puppies will release Tri-Polar Deluxe on May 17 as a follow up to its 2009 sophomore smash LP, Tri-Polar, which has sold over 300,000 units to date. The new deluxe version will include songs from Tri Polar, Polar Opposite (a mini-album of re-imagined unplugged selections), three B-Sides and one unreleased track. To coincide with its release Hulu will be launching their ‘Polar Opposite Sessions’ May 17. Their VEVO sessions including “Maybe”, “White Balloons”, and “Riptide” can be found here.

To date Tri-Polar features four top 10 Rock tracks “Maybe”, “Odd One”, “You’re Going Down”, and their current single “Riptide” which entered the Active Rock chart at #4 this week after a Yahoo! Music exclusive 24-hour video premiere on the homepage. These tracks have steered the way to appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Lopez Tonight.

Co-founded by Shim Moore and Emma Anzai while in high school, Sick Puppies introduced themselves to the world with their “Free Hugs” video for the song “All the Same.” Boasting more than 68 million views on YouTube, the video was shot in a Sydney shopping mall featuring their friend Juan Mann, who held up a hand-written placard offering “Free Hugs.” In the past four years, Sick Puppies have shared stages with the likes of Nickelback, Seether, Shindeown, Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, Deftones, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell, Flyleaf and many more.

The group is currently featured on Cinemax’s Tour Stories, a five-part documentary about the band’s life and stories from the road. And be sure to check Sick Puppies out live as they will be touring all Summer long with stops at Rock on the Range and Rocklahoma.
